I visited "Cc Dim Sum" for lunch on the middle day of a three-day weekend. It's about a five-minute walk from Omori Kaigan Station on the Keikyu Line, located very close to the entrance of the Shinagawa Aquarium. The restaurant has a stylish exterior that makes it hard to recognize as a Chinese restaurant unless you see the menu displayed along the national road. Since the seating is limited and it can get crowded, I made a reservation in advance through Tabelog.
The lunch menu includes four items: pan-fried dumplings, boiled dumplings, spicy chicken, and wontons, all priced at 1,200 yen with a drink included. I ordered the boiled dumpling set for 1,200 yen and a draft beer for 680 yen. I learned that I could choose the filling for the boiled dumplings from six options and selected shrimp and chives. Soon, my beer arrived, but for the price, I found the size of the glass a bit disappointing.
Eventually, my boiled dumplings and other items arrived. The boiled dumplings were smaller in size, with eight pieces that had a thick, chewy skin, which seemed to be homemade. While I was expecting a balance of shrimp and chives, there was almost no shrimp flavor, and I mostly tasted the chives. I used the provided spoon to eat them directly, and although the taste was a bit weak, adding the homemade chili oil from the table enhanced the flavor significantly.
The steamed vegetables included broccoli, shimeji mushrooms, pumpkin, carrots, and corn, along with a single sticky rice shumai. The sauce they recommended for dipping was incredibly delicious and was likely homemade as well. However, both the boiled dumplings and steamed vegetables felt a bit lacking as accompaniments to the rice. The pickles were refreshing but a bit too light with just celery. I wondered if having rice at all was necessary, but that might make the dish feel less filling.
The female staff member who served us was always smiling and provided attentive, pleasant service. As for the kitchen, I initially thought it was a couple running the operation, but I saw a man diligently preparing dim sum in a small room right near the entrance. It seems they make the dumplings, boiled dumplings, and wontons after taking orders, which explains the freshness.
