Sometimes I feel like having breakfast outside. I had heard about the Japanese-style sandwiches and coffee here, and they were really delicious. The flavor might not be for everyone, but I really like it. The sandwich had pickled vegetables like takana, mixed with mayonnaise or butter, but it wasn't overpowering at all... I could eat it all up. The grilling was also perfect. And the coffee was especially delicious. I wonder why it's such a good price? The owner is very attentive, and the atmosphere is very nice. I wish there was a place like this near my home. I had a great morning here. I'd like to try the other sandwiches too! Thank you for the meal ★

However, it's a shame that the mixed scent of purple smoke in the shop changes the atmosphere, but they have stuck to the same style as before. I think it would be improved by increasing the ventilation power a bit more... The price of a cup of chocolate mocha, which has a bitter taste but also hints of milk chocolate, is reasonable. The taste leans more towards bitter coffee than gentle acidity, and adding sugar makes it even closer to the milk chocolate side. The refined smoothness of the taste is similar to blended coffee or Mandheling. The person I was with that day said they liked Mandheling and often drink it at Kikuchi Coffee Main Store. The shop still exudes the same calm atmosphere, with many elderly customers reading analog information such as newspapers in the Showa retro setting. As usual, the atmosphere is the same, with waiting customers buying coffee beans and others coming into the shop, making it quite busy. This time, I was focused on a meeting there, so my awareness of enjoying the coffee was low, but I still felt the stability and affordability of the high quality. Shop information (as before) There should be four stores now, but Kikuchi Coffee Main Store is located at 3-33 Kita 1 Jonishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, with a convenient parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. It offers a stomach-friendly double-roasted coffee with a consistently delicious taste.

I have been to Kikuchi Coffee Main Store a few times with a friend I have known for a long time and have a relationship with. We have had both business and private conversations here. This time, since we are quite familiar with each other, I took a few photos as well. During my longer stay, I had two cups of hot coffee. The first cup was a blend and the second cup was Mandheling blend, which was particularly delicious. Mandheling is probably G1 Special. It had a smooth and clear taste, with a deep and mellow bitterness. The potential of the coffee here is high and it is reasonably priced, but the lack of complete non-smoking areas is a bit of a concern. I tried to take notes while talking continuously, but my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details of the coffee here. The Kikuchi Coffee Main Store is located at 3-33 Kitacho Nishi 20, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. They have a convenient parking lot with plenty of spaces. Their double roasted coffee is gentle on the stomach and consistently delicious.

On the second day of my short trip to Sapporo, I successfully conquered the "Curry Udon Tsubaki" at Udon EAST, one of the top 100 udon shops. I was delighted to find out about their temporary closure through a last-minute check, allowing me to adjust my visit plan and still succeed in conquering it. Since I had booked a flight back to Tokyo in the afternoon with plenty of time to spare, I decided to spend a leisurely coffee time after lunch. The coffee shop I visited for this post-lunch coffee time was located about 500 meters from Nishi 18-chome Station. The owner, Yoshimi Kikuchi, is originally from Otofuke Town in Tokachi. After graduating from Hokkai Gakuen University, he worked for about 22 years at the Sapporo branch of Kabushiki Kaisha Ueshima Honten (now known as Sapporo Coffee Co., Ltd.). In 1986, he founded Kikuchi Coffee Co., Ltd. and opened the first store in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. This is the store I visited. When asked about his thoughts at the time of founding, he mentioned that he felt the handling of beans was somewhat sloppy in large companies, and the passion for coffee beans was diminishing. He decided to pursue independence in order to create his own coffee beans with dedication. In October 2003, he opened a second store in Miyanozawa, Nishi-ku, under the name "Roasting Kiln Kikuchi Coffee Blue Mountain Hall." Furthermore, although the opening date is unknown, he also opened a store in the basement of Odori Fujii Building in Nishi 11-chome, Chuo-ku, called "Roasting Kiln Kikuchi Coffee Odori Nishi 11-chome Store," and in March 2013, he opened a store in the basement of Minami Odori Building in Nishi 10-chome called "Kikuchi Coffee Minami Odori Building Store." Currently, he operates four stores. The location of the store I visited is about a 6-7 minute walk north from Exit 1 of Nishi 18-chome Station, on Nishi 20-chome Street. The red letters "Kikuchi Coffee" on the outside of the building are prominently visible even from a distance. I arrived at the store around 11:30 am, shortly after finishing lunch. The interior of the store has 5 counter seats and 12 seats at 6 two-person table seats, but the area behind the curtain serves as a smoking corner with 8 seats at 4 tables, making a total of 25 seats. However, the smoke from the smoking corner leaks out, giving the whole store a smoky feel, so it might be better to be more thorough with the non-smoking section if they are going to have separate areas. The store was surprisingly crowded, and while the counter seats near the smoking corner were available, the non-smoking section was almost full. Luckily, one person left just as I arrived, so I was able to secure a seat. While there seemed to be paper menus available upon request, they didn't bring one unless you asked, so I ordered from the menu posted on the wall. The coffee options included blended coffee for 360 yen, American coffee, cafe au lait, iced coffee, iced cafe au lait, and milk, with only Blue Mountain No. 1 available as a straight coffee for 700 yen. The food menu had limited options, with 3 types of toast and hot sandwiches each (ranging from 300 yen to 390 yen), and the only dessert available was a rare cheesecake for 340 yen. I ordered the rare cheesecake and blended coffee. While the individual prices were not too high, without a set discount, the combination felt slightly expensive at 700 yen. It would be nice to have some sort of set discount, even if it's just a small one for food and dessert. The order was served in about 2 minutes, which was surprisingly quick. However, the coffee seemed to be pre-brewed rather than freshly dripped. While they may have a strong commitment to the beans, pre-brewing may not showcase that dedication. Conversely, if they don't put much effort into roasting the beans, it might be better to focus on that aspect more.

I was looking for a cafe that opens in the morning, and I found it by searching. I visited around 7:30 in the morning. It's the main store of Kikuchi Coffee near the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art. The retro atmosphere tickles the hearts of cafe lovers. The menu includes light meals such as hot sandwiches. Since there were two of us, we ordered iced coffee and a hot sandwich. You can choose two fillings for the hot sandwich, so we ordered tuna and egg. The black coffee in the morning has a refreshing bitterness without any off-flavors. It was delicious, so I might visit again. The food is freshly baked and quite filling. Please note that you must order at least one coffee when you visit here (although I don't think you need to worry). Also, if you come frequently, there are coffee tickets available which are a good deal. There are surprisingly few options for cafes that open in the morning, so it's nice to have a place like this. I will come back again, thank you for the meal.

I visited around 7:50 in the morning during the Bon holiday. There were 4 customers before me. Fortunately, there were no smokers, so it wasn't smoky, but there is no clear partition between the smoking area, so it depends on luck. The American coffee was delicious, even though it was made light, it had a depth to it. The hot sandwich was different from ones you make yourself or buy at a school festival, and it was tasty. Eating the banana while mixing it in your mouth added a sweetness to the hot sandwich and made it delicious.

I feel like having a morning meal, so my wife and I went for a walk and visited this place. The area around the governor's mansion is easy to walk around and has a retro vibe. The inside of the restaurant has a nostalgic charm, with red velvet chairs, vintage counters, and plastic menu boards. The food and coffee were delicious, but what really sets this place apart is its unique atmosphere. The famous U-no-hana sandwich was amazing, with moist bread and a hint of acidity that paired perfectly. The iced coffee was also carefully brewed. To imagine the appeal of this place, think of a fried bread shop. Some places serve fancy fried bread in trendy cafes, while others focus on a nostalgic, local style. This place falls into the latter category, with a history of 80 years in the community. It's delicious, but not in a flashy way. If you appreciate consistent quality and a timeless charm, you'll love it here.

On the way to the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, we stopped here for a quick bite. The seating is divided into smoking and non-smoking areas, with smoking tables in the back and non-smoking tables near the entrance and counter. There are no physical barriers, so if there are many smokers, it may be bothersome. Fortunately, there were no smoking customers at the time, so there was no smell of smoke. I had the "American" coffee (360 yen), which was very light and lacked bitterness or acidity. I like light coffee, so it was perfect for me. The "Egg Toast" (350 yen) was not what I expected, but it was delicious with plenty of butter and minced egg whites on top. It reminded me of bread from a certain bakery. The dish came with a banana slice and a boiled egg. My companion had the "Iced Coffee" (390 yen), which had a good balance of bitterness and acidity in the blend. I didn't buy any coffee beans this time because I still have plenty at home, but I'm curious about the limited edition "Chocolate Mocha" beans and would like to try them next time. Thank you, Kikuchi-san, for the meal!

The start of this Sapporo tour was from "Kikuchi Coffee Main Store"! It doesn't really matter, but the day before, something really annoying happened at work... I was falsely accused of not doing something, and even though I tried to explain myself, they wouldn't let me speak and said they hate people who make excuses! The only good thing was that I could easily fast in preparation for the tour. By the way, Kikuchi Coffee opens at 7 a.m., but there were already customers there before opening time. I can't say for sure, but maybe they are regulars or the service from the owner? While I was there, there were about 8 groups of customers, and it's popular even early in the morning! I ended up ordering "Uno Hana Hot Sandwich (¥390)" and "Blue Mountain No. 1 (¥700)" despite the slight price increase. The service from the owner and what seemed to be his wife, to put it bluntly, was not great haha. They were managing the store by themselves, and with many customers, it took about 30 minutes for my order to arrive after placing it. But from a different perspective, the careful roasting of the coffee and the time taken for both the coffee and food to be made indicate that there is a certain level of deliciousness. The coffee and hot sandwich were worth the wait! The crispy surface with a slight burnt taste and the fluffy texture inside with a hint of sweetness! It's clear they use good bread! Uno Hana seems to refer to okara. The combination of the nutty flavor of soybeans and the sweetness of carrots creates a gentle taste that is easy to eat! The butter and mayonnaise add richness different from a tuna sandwich, and the simple atmosphere brings a sense of comfort. I also like healthy dishes like okara hamburgers and okara donuts! The boiled egg and banana were delicious too. Depending on the storage conditions of the coffee beans, the Blue Mountain I had had a sweet aroma as a characteristic. The bold but not overpowering bitterness that spreads with each sip, as well as the gradually emerging sweetness and acidity, make it a cup worth the price. Despite the price increase, isn't it amazing that you can enjoy a product that would cost four digits at a different store for only ¥700? The owner apologized for the delay in the food's arrival, but I feel bad because the delicious food and drinks at such a low price make me feel undeserving. I ended up spending the highest amount for a sandwich and coffee, but they were delicious, so it's all good! If I ever need a morning pick-me-up again, I might use this place. Thank you for the meal.

A cozy coffee shop with a coffee connoisseur where you can enjoy delicious coffee at an affordable price. The nostalgic red velvet chairs add to the charm of the place. The coffee is great and the bonus banana and boiled egg that come with the toast menu are a nice touch. Blend coffee for 340 yen + Egg toast for 330 yen = 670 yen.

There are about 4 branches of a coffee shop that sells coffee beans for takeout. The price of the beans is already cheap, but during the campaign period, it became even cheaper by about 150 yen. Two bags of 100g each cost 640 yen including tax, which is too cheap that it makes me feel uneasy. The original blend has a good balance of sweetness and complexity, making it easy to drink. On the other hand, the Mocha Sidamo G2 has a bit of complexity and acidity, giving it a taste reminiscent of old coffee and old coffee shops.

I have been recommended by a regular at my favorite sauna "Nikori Fle" to visit the main store, although I have been to the Daodori West 11th Avenue and Minami Daodori stores connected to the subway Nishi 11th Avenue station. I had never been to the main store before. There is a saying, "Believe in the followers of Dainichi Nita and saunas when it comes to restaurants," so if it wasn't for that person's recommendation, I probably would have just passed by the store without going in. After checking out of Nikori Fle, I decided to walk to Nishi 11th Avenue station and thought I might as well visit the main store. This time, I had a firm determination to eat the "Unohana Hot Sandwich," which can only be eaten at Kikuchi Coffee besides. I chose the blend coffee from the retail showcase beans. The Unohana Hot Sandwich also comes with bananas and boiled eggs. The main store, as well as the other branches, has a calm atmosphere without the people I dislike who only order one cup of coffee and stay for a long time studying or working. I was able to enjoy my coffee and eat the Unohana Hot Sandwich in an elegant mood. The goodness of this place can only be understood by those who have been there.

I went to a coffee shop after visiting the dentist at North 1st Street, West 20th Street. I had some time to spare as I took the morning off for the dentist appointment. My lips and cheeks are still numb from the anesthesia. I usually drink Kikuchi Coffee, but this was my first time at the main store. They offer a unique system where you can choose beans from the ones sold in the store and have a straight coffee brewed for you. I chose Guatemala coffee this time. Coffee from Guatemala is considered high quality when grown at high altitudes. It had a good balance of acidity and richness. It was a relaxing time. Now it's time to head back to work. Thank you for the meal.

Hokkaido has an interesting coffee culture, known for its dark roast coffee. I ordered a blended coffee and also tried their unique dish, the toasted tofu bread. The coffee was dark roast, slightly light, but still had a hint of sweetness. It was a rare flavor but delicious. This restaurant offers great value for money. The toasted tofu bread is a unique dish with a gentle flavor. The place was packed with locals and regulars from the moment it opened. There are several branches in the city. It is a well-established and popular cafe in Sapporo.

The interior of the shop, which is not completely divided but has partitions, gives off a sophisticated atmosphere with jazz music playing in the background. The retro-style decor, especially the distinctive red chairs, adds to the ambiance. I ordered the Black Kilimanjaro coffee, which had a refined and crystal-clear taste. It was slightly weaker in intensity than I expected, but it had a clean and sharp sweetness with a hint of the coffee beans' potential. As the temperature cooled, a slight acidity emerged, but it was a pleasant type of acidity that I enjoyed. The milk I tried after finishing the coffee had a Coffee Fresh-like flavor, which was not a problem. I was looking forward to savoring the aroma of the Black Kilimanjaro coffee, but unfortunately, the environment was not conducive for that. The pervasive tobacco flavor in the air cannot be ignored, but I hope that depending on the time of day, it will be a comfortable space for enjoying drinks. I felt the strong influence of the tobacco flavor, as if I was sitting in a place where the smoke was flowing directly towards me, which was quite challenging for the coffee flavor to stand out. I wished for better ventilation and environment, but I also thought that my evaluation might have been different if I had bought the beans and enjoyed the coffee at home. In contrast to Miyakoshiya Coffee, this place is more affordable, but I couldn't help but feel a deep connection between coffee specialty shops and smoking. On a certain weekday, I stopped by my favorite cafe, Kikuchi Coffee, a little early before lunch. There is a small parking lot here, which is very convenient. When I arrived, older customers were dozing off in their own ways. Since it was before lunch, I decided to try the limited edition "Chocolate Mocha (380 yen)" instead of toast. The staff was handling everything alone, so the service was a bit slow. I took a sip... Ah, it's delicious as always. The hand-dripped coffee has a rich Mocha flavor, with a hint of chocolate that I couldn't quite figure out, but the rich aroma of the beans spreads nicely. Thanks to that, I was able to spend my time efficiently. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

After eating spicy food, it's important to take care of your stomach. I went to the longstanding coffee shop, Kikuchi Coffee Main Store, which is conveniently close to my office.
