I recently visited a newly opened oyster bar called Uohide in Yoyogi Hachiman, which opened on July 5th! This location is part of a chain that also has stores in Shibuya. The interior is bright and beautifully designed with a white color scheme, creating a cheerful atmosphere. The back area features greenery in the ceiling, adding an elegant touch!
This time, we enjoyed a selection of recommended dishes from the à la carte menu. The "appetizer" was a gentle and comforting shijimi clam and ginger soup. We ordered the "5 types of fresh oysters," which included varieties from Iwate Prefecture (Akazaki and Rice Mishima), Fukuoka (Mojiko), Miyagi (Shizugawa), and Hyogo (Aioi). The largest oyster from Hyogo was impressively big, incredibly plump, and creamy. The smaller Iwate oysters were refreshing and delicious! These oysters are sterilized using flowing deep ocean water, ensuring they are safe to eat; they were all very fresh.
Another dish I enjoyed was the "salmon rare cutlet with homemade shibazuke tartar." The pink tartar, made with shibazuke pickles, was unique! The rare cutlet was soft, fresh, and incredibly crispy on the outside. The "assorted burrata cheese" came with seasonal fruits, including watermelon. The saltiness of the prosciutto enhanced the sweetness of the watermelon, and the cheese was delightfully creamy.
We also tried the "homemade rum raisin butter served with a baguette," which is a sophisticated adult flavor that pairs well with drinks. The sweetness of the rum raisins combined with the aroma of the butter was delightful!
The "black bolognese" pasta, made with squid ink, was striking in appearance and topped with gold leaf—definitely a luxurious dish! Underneath its bold look, the bolognese sauce was rich and slightly tangy, making it fantastic.
Next was the "shrimp and oyster ajillo served with a baguette," which arrived sizzling hot with chunks of oyster, shrimp, and various vegetables and mushrooms inside. We also had the "Milan-style mixed pizza with oyster toppings," another indulgent dish, topped generously with cheese, oysters, shrimp, and even some fish roe.
Overall, Uohide offers a stylish atmosphere where you can indulge in fresh oysters and delicious dishes. I definitely plan to visit again when I'm in the Yoyogi Hachiman area!
