The curry is beef curry. The beef has a fibrous texture, giving it a satisfying chewy feel. The vegetables are cooked until they are soft and tender. The curry sauce is on the thick side, lacking a bit of richness, and not too spicy. The pork cutlet is crispy and about 6-8mm thick. And the best part, there are two sunny-side-up eggs! The runny yolks were a delightful surprise. Overall, it was delicious. The service and smile from the wife as always were fantastic! It was heartwarming to be remembered even though it had been a while since my last visit.

Interior: The setting exudes an American taste. There are counter seats, table seats, and raised tatami seats, and despite the appearance, the restaurant can accommodate a good number of customers. It is kept clean and you can enjoy your meal comfortably. Service: The restaurant is run by a couple. Especially the wife's service is fantastic, with a smile, kindness, and consideration, making it a great find! Dish: Katsu Half (Curry & Meat) for 1100 yen. Served sizzling hot like at "Restaurant Izumiya" in Kushiro. First, the curry. It has a mild spiciness with a rich flavor that is not too overpowering. The crispy yet tender cutlet pairs well with it, with a nice balance of softness and chewiness. Of course, it also goes perfectly with the thin pasta. The meat sauce is also quite delicious. Overall: I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, but it was a big hit! I felt the level of quality similar to a privately-owned Western-style restaurant in Lake Akan Onsen. The excellence of the wife's service was spot on (*^^*). I didn't get to hear the master's story, so I'll have to visit again later. This is definitely a place I'll revisit!

I checked if it was possible to board the sightseeing boat at 1:00 PM and then entered "Cafe Elm". They seemed to recommend the spaghetti with homemade sauce, but I decided to try the "Elm Rice" (pork cutlet, buttered rice, pasta, salad) named after the restaurant. It was a bit pricey, but it reminded me of the pork rice dish I used to eat often when I worked in Toyama. The pork cutlet had a similar texture and was delicious.

I went to Café Elm! While walking, I came across this place...though it's actually on the main street. Let's go inside. The interior is more like a café than a traditional coffee shop. I sit at the counter and look at the menu. They offer pasta, curry, and pizza. I choose pasta. I go for the Japanese-style mushroom pasta for 900 yen. It's ready in 5 minutes, quite fast. The portion is quite generous, with a lot of seaweed on top. The noodles are a bit firm, with a slightly tough texture. It seems to be finished with butter, as there is a lack of oiliness. The saltiness is just right. The mushrooms are mainly shimeji, and there is a lot of seaweed to mix in. It's a bit dehydrating. Next time, I might try the curry. Thank you for the meal.

Visit date March 20, 2020. Lunch with a companion at Elm. Arrived around 13:20. Two groups of customers before us, no customers after. Ordered: - Elm Rice 1200 yen - Omurice 950 yen Food was served in about 10 minutes. Elm Rice: Butter rice, pork cutlet, pasta, salad on one plate. The cutlet was crispy but a bit tough. The sauce was plentiful but not as flavorful as it looked. The rice was firm, with a weak butter flavor. The pasta had no toppings, just lots of ketchup. The noodles were cooked well. The salad had cabbage, tomato, dry parsley, and mayonnaise. Omurice: My companion ordered this. The chicken rice inside was strongly flavored with ketchup and pepper. The chicken pieces were small and not plentiful. The egg was on top of the rice, with 1/3 ketchup and 1/3 demiglace sauce. The ketchup was a bit overpowering due to the strong chicken rice flavor, but the demiglace sauce was very tasty. The sweet fukujinzuke served with it paired well. My companion enjoyed the Omurice. I personally found the Napoletana pasta delicious, so I would recommend the pasta dishes here. The female waitress was polite and had a smile, but the male staff seemed unfriendly and hard to hear when greeting customers. It's important to at least greet customers loudly in a tourist spot like Lake Akan. Thank you for the meal.

During lunchtime in Lake Akan Onsen, as I was walking around the town, I spotted a cafe-like shop. I was looking for something light to eat because of my hangover, but my junior colleague preferred something hearty, so we decided to go in. The atmosphere inside the shop was cozy and welcoming. We were seated at a table in the middle and checked the menu. I was worried that pasta or curry might be too heavy for my hangover, so I ordered a half portion of both – curry pasta and meat pasta. The curry pasta reminded me of the time when I had it at the International Ski Resort as a kid. My colleague ordered pork cutlet with spaghetti, which was also very filling. In conclusion, the food was delicious. I will definitely come back next time when I'm feeling healthier.

I went to work at Akkan and hadn't eaten lunch yet. I noticed this restaurant in front of me and decided to try it the other day. I didn't really pay attention to the opening hours, but it was past 11:30 so I assumed they were open. Today, it was past 12:00 and they were open. I sat at the counter, which had about 5 seats. This place is better for groups of 2 or more, so I was seated at a table. The atmosphere was jazz music, and the staff, a man and a woman who seemed like a couple, were very friendly. The woman was especially nice. The man was good too. The sound of cooking utensils was loud and energizing. The open kitchen setup added to the excitement. I ordered the "Peperoncino" and the staff seemed busy. After about 12 minutes, the Peperoncino arrived. It seemed like they sautéed pre-cooked pasta. It was crispy and had nori and red pepper flakes. The spiciness was moderate and the garlic flavor was subtle. The pasta was a bit dry, but it was still enjoyable. The regular customers, including a young man, were having a great time. Although I didn't see it, I wish the staff had said "thank you" when serving the food. Overall, the Peperoncino was light and tasty, not authentic, but still good!

Recently, I visited Lake Akan with my friends and went on a drive. We visited a clothing store and then had lunch at a restaurant that my friend found. The restaurant was surprisingly lovely and spacious inside. It seemed like it was run by a married couple, with the wife being very beautiful and friendly. The husband was the chef. I ordered the Oriental Rice, while my friend ordered the Elm Rice. The food was made right in front of us, and it arrived in less than 10 minutes. The side of Napolitan pasta was my favorite part. The curry-flavored rice was subtle and complemented the meat well. My friend also enjoyed the Butter Rice. The prices were a bit touristy, but we didn't mind because the food was satisfying. The restaurant quickly filled up with customers as we ate. It was a wonderful dining experience.

We were exploring power spots with my partner and before we knew it, it was already past 2 o'clock. My partner, who didn't mention being hungry, suddenly said when we arrived at Lake Akan, "Let's eat here!" It turns out they were hungry. We found a small restaurant next to a souvenir shop. Inside, the owner and his wife were resting at a large table. Since it was already late, we were seated at a table towards the back with a smile from the wife. We looked at the menu and my partner ordered bacon and tuna, while I ordered a half-and-half cutlet. My partner asked if I wasn't hungry, but the half-and-half referred to the flavors, not the portion size. It was a hot day at 33 degrees by Lake Akan. About 10 minutes later, my partner's bacon and tuna arrived sizzling hot on a hot plate. The pasta was not the thick type commonly found in Kushiro, but a thicker type commonly served at home. My partner started eating, and soon after, my dish arrived. The cutlet was small, and in the slightly dimly lit atmosphere of the restaurant, the curry and meat looked similar (funny). First, I tried the curry. It wasn't spicy, but it wasn't bad. The cutlet was small but crispy and juicy, making it delicious. Next, I tried the meat... It was tasty, but if you're used to the flavors of Kushiro, it might feel a bit lacking. The pasta was slightly burnt in some parts, maybe due to its thinness. My partner seemed to enjoy the bacon and tuna. We'll have to try something different next time. Thank you for the meal!

On a regular lunchtime, with the snow melting and the road conditions improving, I decided to make a rare trip to Lake Akan Onsen. As it is the off-season, there are hardly any tourists around, creating a quiet atmosphere. Additionally, there is a free parking lot available during the winter season, which is a nice bonus. Lake Akan is completely frozen, making it easy to enjoy ice fishing for smelt with tents lined up regularly, as well as the opportunity to ride snowmobiles, adding to the appeal of visiting Lake Akan in winter. I visited a place that I had passed by last year but did not enter, feeling regretful afterwards. The location is within the "Kouun no Mori" shopping street in Lake Akan Onsen, which is a bit of a distance from the hotel area, so it is important to pay attention to where you park your car as it will affect how far you have to walk. This particular restaurant is close to the Ainu Kotan, so it is recommended to park in that area. It was around 12:30 PM when I arrived, with 3 groups of customers (10 people) already seated and no one waiting. The interior of the restaurant has 5 counter seats, 4 table seats, and a raised area at the back that could accommodate a small party. It seems to be run by a husband and wife. The husband has the appearance of someone who was probably a bit of a troublemaker in his younger days, while the wife, who is said to have many fans, has a lovely smile and manages the place with style. The chic exterior of the restaurant stands out from the others in the shopping street, and the interior has an American-style ambiance with fashionable elements, showcasing the couple's sense of style. After some consideration, I decided to try the "Oriental Rice," a menu item with a somewhat ambiguous price range. There were no photos on the menu, making it difficult to gauge if it was expensive or not. The dish turned out to be a unique combination of curry-flavored rice with pork chops, salad, and pasta on the side. It arrived in less than 10 minutes, with a creative presentation on a single plate. The rice had a dry curry-like flavor, and the meat was tender beef sagari that easily melted in the mouth, complemented by a sweet and sour demi-glace steak sauce. The combination worked well and was delicious. Personally, I really enjoyed the simple and tasty flavor of the accompanying Neapolitan pasta, even when it had cooled down. It seemed like there were quite a few regular customers, with the husband chatting and smoking at the counter with the customers seated there. While it may be a great place to hang out once you become a regular, I'm not sure about the value for money. If you want to meet the beautiful wife, then definitely give it a try! Thank you for the meal.

We took a sightseeing boat around Lake Akan and disembarked at 12:20. Then we headed to a restaurant with three people. A young couple welcomed us, followed by a group of elderly people of 13 who needed to leave by 13:00. They asked for their food quickly, but we let other customers go ahead as we wanted to take our time since we had to check into our inn later. The dish we ordered, "Oriental Rice," was unbelievably delicious! The texture was perfect, the flavors were distinct in every direction - from the pork chop to the curry fried rice and pasta with salad. It was a perfect meal, and all the effort put into researching beforehand paid off. The restaurant has a new menu but has maintained its reputation from the previous owner. It's a great place for a meal in a tourist spot. The group of 13 finished their meal in just 15 minutes. I had to tell the master, "Hats off," for such a delicious lunch. It was a truly enjoyable dining experience.
