This place is in Chuocho, Kushiro City, but it may only be understood by Kushiro locals, so please check the map on Tabelog as usual. I have actually been to this restaurant before, about 25 years ago, and although it is not located along the main Ohtetsusen Street, it is a bit hidden in the back so it can be easy to overlook, but we managed to find it and parked our car in the front parking lot before heading into the restaurant. The restaurant has been rebuilt and looks impressive compared to when I last visited. Inside, I sat at the counter and looked at the menu, and as always, I ordered the "Shio Ramen". As we waited for our order, local customers kept coming in one after another, and we were the only ones who were tourists or not locals. The Kushiro Ramen arrived in about 4-5 minutes, with slightly cloudy soup revealing the characteristic thin curly noodles. I started by tasting the soup, which had a strong bonito flavor, followed by a light chicken broth flavor, and the overall umami taste seemed to be more subdued than before, with a slightly salty level of saltiness. Next, the noodles were perfect with the typical thin curly noodles from Sanemaru Seimen, which were easy to slurp. Finally, the toppings included two small slices of chashu, menma, naruto, and green onions, following the simple ingredient composition typical of Kushiro Ramen. As it was almost noon when we left the restaurant, the parking lot was already full and more customers were arriving. This restaurant was established in 1961, and has been loved by the local people of Kushiro for over half a century, so I hope it continues to thrive for many years to come.
