There was a traditional Japanese sweets shop in Shinsaibashi. I originally wanted to eat inside the shop, but it was already full and there was a line outside. To save time, I bought the seasonal limited edition matcha warabi mochi to go. The warabi mochi was a lot, so I shared it with two other people. The sensation of dipping it in matcha was refreshing and delicious.

Finally. It's autumn now. It's been about half a year since I got to know Angetsu-san. First, it was the steamed sweet bean jelly "Hanamame Yohkan" in spring and summer, then the light jelly "Kuri Wakase", and now the "Kuri Steamed Yohkan"! It seems to be Angetsu-san's signature product. I wonder what it tastes like? The Kuri Steamed Yohkan - looking at the cross-section... So many chestnuts! A luxurious amount of chestnuts. The ratio of chestnuts to sweet bean paste is said to be 2:1, but it doesn't look that way at all. The taste I'm curious about... Moist sweet bean paste, chestnuts with a strong sweetness. Truly exquisite, the most delicious among all the Yohkan I've had so far! With big chestnuts scattered throughout, there's no way it could taste bad. Looking at the ingredients, there's a mention of kudzu starch. Could this be what creates the moist texture? Is it the traditional production method and carefully selected chestnuts that make it so good? It's the best Kuri Steamed Yohkan!

I wanted to have Sanmasu, but it was not available on the day, so I opted for Anzuki for takeout this time. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. Inside, there is red bean paste and mochi. It's not too sweet at all, and I feel like I could eat as much as I want. Now I'm starting to crave Sanmasu again. Thank you very much. It was a feast.

It seems not well known, but there are various combinations of menu with matcha sets! Right now, I really want to go for shaved ice (laughs). I chose the classic manju set, and it was really delicious. I will definitely visit again!

I used to buy "Hanamame Yokan" at the traditional Japanese confectionery Angetsu. This time, I wanted to try a different Japanese sweet, so I revisited the shop. I had already decided what I wanted to buy, so I quickly made my purchase. ⭐️Kuri Wakase⭐️Kuri Iri Mikasa⭐️Kuri Wakase These Japanese sweets seem to have been made during the Ansei era, which is the late Edo period. The contrast between the green and white colors, and the yellow color of the chestnut inside, is wonderful. As for the taste... it was a moist and soft sweet that made me crave tea! The green part is a light kanten, and the white part seems to be a Murasame with yuzu flavor. I could definitely taste the yuzu flavor! Be careful as the green part is fragile! The website had the green part placed at the bottom, but the photo shows it the other way around, haha. ⭐️Kuri Iri Mikasa This is an amazing Mikasa with a large chestnut inside. The cross-section is beautiful. The sweet bean paste is not too sweet. The dough could be a bit more moist. Next time, I want to try their manju.

Visited the Angetsu in Shinsaibashi. The atmosphere of this long-established store is unmistakable. Here, they sell signature items such as "Hanamame Yokan," as well as the autumn limited edition "Steamed Chestnut Yokan," and ice manju, among others. This time, I purchased the half-size of the "Hanamame Yokan," known for its refined sweetness! The taste was... It had large chestnuts and flower beans mixed in, providing a delightful texture. The chestnuts and beans take up a significant portion of the yokan. It felt luxurious. The flower beans, rich in fiber and iron, were sweet and delicious as they were candied. The slight bitterness of the flower bean skin added a nice touch. Truly, the refined sweetness was exceptional. I am in awe of their traditional techniques. I would like to buy the Steamed Chestnut Yokan next time.

Visit time: 13:40 on a weekday Waiting time: None Menu: Chestnut-filled Mikasa for 270 yen + Angetsu Namagashi for 237 yen I stopped by Angetsu after having lunch at the nearby Baranoki. I wanted to buy the popular chestnut yokan, but it was a bit pricey, so this time I bought Mikasa and Namagashi instead. Mikasa has chestnuts in smooth red bean paste, and it was delicious. The Namagashi also had red bean paste with a thin layer of mochi inside, which was tasty. This time, I only bought a small amount of Namagashi, but next time I want to buy more. Thank you for the meal.

The expiration date is 4 days for the "Steamed Chestnut Yokan" ♡ (It seems to last a little longer if stored in the refrigerator) This is a seasonal limited edition yokan that is a rare find♡ I received it as a gift◎ Anzendo was established in 1868☆ It had a lot of delicious chestnuts, so much so that it's not an exaggeration to say there is sweet bean paste mixed in with the chestnuts! I feel like I'll finish it soon w

Established in the 4th year of Keio (1868), this dish, Chestnut Steamed Yokan in half size, is priced at 2,484 yen per building (including tax) with a base price of 2,300 yen. It is filled with a surprisingly large amount of fresh chestnuts, harmoniously blending a pleasant texture and elegant sweetness. We use only the highest quality fresh chestnuts, simmered in sweet syrup at our shop, and sealed in a moist steamed yokan.

When I returned home, my wife gave me a souvenir. It was chestnut steamed yokan. The packaging looked expensive, and it turned out to be around 2500 yen for a half-size. I wouldn't buy it myself, but when I saw it, I noticed it had an abnormal amount of chestnuts. It felt like chestnuts were solidified with yokan, rather than yokan with chestnuts in it. Surprisingly, the chestnuts were domestically produced. When I cut it, I saw that it was packed with chestnuts. The yokan was not too sweet, bringing out the flavor of the chestnuts. The chestnuts were delicious and had a nice texture. Even though it cost 2500 yen, it was worth it. It's like the budget for four dinners! I don't know where to buy it, but if you find it, you should definitely get it.

This shop seems to have been renovated, maybe... Well, as long as it's open, let's buy something... When I asked for a recommendation, the obaachan subtly recommended the kuri shiyoukan... It's quite expensive... Did she read my expression? She also casually mentioned the half-size... The obaachan is good. I paid 2,484 yen for the cream shiyoukan small with a card... There are tables, so can we eat here? I asked, and she said they had shaved ice during the summer... And they also have ice shiyoukan, not water shiyoukan... Maybe I'll come back in the summer? For now, I'll head back home. I had it as a late-night snack at home, and it was a refined, subtly sweet taste... Different from the overly sweet ones you find everywhere (although I like those too)... It's a confectionery that showcases the chestnut ingredient... It feels like a long-established shop.

Anzuki is a famous shop known for their steamed chestnut yokan. Their wagashi (Japanese sweets) are also delicious! The chestnut yokan, which I often rely on in autumn and winter, is popular as a gift or souvenir. The generous use of chestnuts gives it a comforting sweetness. This time, I bought three half-sized flower bean yokan and some wagashi for myself. I'm happy that the sweetness is mild. I look forward to visiting again when the timing is right.

Having lunch by the window at Nazar's. Outside the window, there is a nice Japanese confectionery shop. I checked it out while waiting for my meal to be served and found out it's in the top 5000 on Tabelog. After lunch, I stopped by and bought a half stick of Hanamame Yokan for 1,944 yen including tax. It's famous for its steamed chestnut yokan, but they didn't have it this season, so I got the Hanamame Yokan instead. It's filled with large kidney beans and chestnuts. Since it's steamed yokan, it doesn't feel heavy after eating. The chestnuts are big and soft. The kidney beans themselves are delicious, but they also serve as a flavor enhancer, making the chestnuts taste even better. When I first saw the price, I thought it was a bit expensive, but considering the amount of chestnuts packed in, it might not be that pricey after all. I want to treat my parents to this, so I need to revisit before going back home.

I was thinking of buying a souvenir, so I searched on Tabelog and found this place! It has a solemn atmosphere facing Europe Street. The staff member was riding a nice mama-chari. The souvenir I bought here was a set of chestnut yokan and manju, around 5000 yen. The chestnut yokan was packed with chestnuts and looked delicious. The price was quite high. I actually had the dorayaki. I love dorayaki, especially the one from Mini Stop. How does this dorayaki taste? When I tried it, it was just good, nothing extraordinary. It seems like it's not their main product, so it's a suitable snack to buy on the side. Thank you for the meal!

This is a famous Osaka restaurant that you can occasionally find in Tokyo, but the main store is actually located in Shinsaibashi. They offer a special set for Setsubun called "Fukuwa Uchi," which includes three items: a red bean paste treat shaped like an oni (demon) with food coloring, a manju (sweet bun) shaped like an okame (female mask), and a sweet potato baked snack. The oni looks cute, but the okame is a bit scary. Overall, it doesn't seem very kid-friendly in terms of appearance and taste.

I was told by a friend who loves sweets that the steamed chestnut yokan here is incredibly delicious. "It's quite pricey though, haha," they added. So, I decided to visit the shop right away. It was smaller than I expected. The steamed chestnut yokan is only available for sale from September to January when fresh chestnuts are in season. Since it was the end of January, I was worried if they still had it, but the staff reassured me, "Yes, we still have some♪" According to the staff, last year was a good year for chestnuts. Although my friend recommended the chestnut yokan, I was more interested in the white bean and chestnut yokan, so I bought that instead. The White Bean and Chestnut Yokan (Half Stick) costs 2,592 yen including tax. Even the half stick feels quite heavy♪ It is made with white beans from Hokkaido and finished with white anko. It looks beautiful as well. I tried it as a dessert after a meal. Just as it looks, it has chunks of chestnuts inside♪ When I tasted it, I felt a very elegant sweetness! Not too heavy, with a light sweetness. I cut it into thick slices and enjoyed it, but it didn't feel heavy at all. It is indeed incredibly delicious haha. It was a bit pricey, but I think it's definitely worth it. The staff's customer service was polite, and I had a pleasant shopping experience. I'm grateful to my friend for recommending such a good shop. Next time, I want to try the chestnut yokan featured on the sign. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I went to Shinsaibashi in Osaka. Near my destination, I happened to stop by a popular Japanese sweets shop. Angetsu, a traditional Japanese confectionery shop established in Kobe in 1868, expanded to Osaka after the war. They are known for using the finest ingredients and putting in a lot of effort to create high-quality Japanese sweets. One of their popular items is the seasonal "Chestnut Steamed Yokan." They had various types of yokan available, and next to them, they proudly displayed a medal from Tabelog's "Top 100 Sweets Shops." They also sold fresh sweets and soba mochi. I bought a few pieces of soba mochi, which you can purchase individually. The "Chestnut-filled Mikasa" was made by skilled confectionery artisans who hand-bake them. Inside the soft dough, there were large chestnuts and sweet red bean paste. The softness of the dough and the natural sweetness of the chestnuts were delightful. I enjoyed it with the red bean paste. The "Soba Mochi" uses natural yams from Yamato and buckwheat flour from Oguni, Yamagata Prefecture. Inside, there were large red beans. The steamed dough was plump and had a rich flavor. I savored the taste along with the aroma of buckwheat. I refrained from buying larger Japanese sweets this time due to my luggage, but I hope to purchase the seasonal "Chestnut Steamed Yokan" next time I visit the area.

On November's Premium Friday, I started the day with a bar crawl in Osaka city and ended up with a full stomach. To walk it off, I decided to walk from Temmabashi to Minami. As I passed through Shinsaibashi's "European Street," I spotted the long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop "Antsukido," founded in Keio 4. When you think of Antsukido, you think of their autumn/winter limited edition "Steamed Chestnut Yokan," right? I remember how delicious it was last year, so I decided to buy it again this year. When I arrived home, I was quite drunk from all the alcohol, so I saved the Steamed Chestnut Yokan for the next day, Saturday. The Steamed Chestnut Yokan is filled with an abundance of fresh chestnuts. There is definitely more chestnut than red bean paste, and the chestnuts have a crispy texture with a strong chestnut flavor. The aroma of the azuki beans is also delightful. It was delicious as always. Although the price is a bit high, the taste justifies it, especially when you consider the high-quality chestnuts used. I am satisfied to have been able to enjoy it again this year, and I look forward to buying and eating it again next autumn. Thank you for the meal!

I always come here to buy Oseibo gifts. When deciding what to send to someone who has helped me, I always struggled and pondered endlessly. The conclusion I reached after much deliberation is this: Why not send something to someone who has money? They have everything. They receive gifts from various people. What should I send? This was a dilemma for me since my 20s. The answer is something they can buy, but might not buy for themselves! This steamed chestnut yokan from here is filled with chestnuts that really evoke the feeling of autumn. Plus, it costs around 5000 yen per piece. Only a true gourmet with a lot of money would buy it (lol). But once you taste it, you'll appreciate its deliciousness and value. And it's only sold at this store in Osaka. I buy it from such stores. By the way, for Ochugen, I go with Agemochi. And my criteria for choosing a gift is whether it would make the recipient's wife happy. By the way, when I bought it for my mother without saying anything about the price, she was so surprised by how delicious it was that she called me (lol).
