In 2018, I went on a drive to Biei and Furano with my brother, Kazeru. We decided to visit Furano instead of the crowded Biei. The weather was perfect with clear skies. We joked about how it never rains in Furano! We visited Furano Marche, where they sell famous Hokkaido sweets like Marushie Butter Sand. Next, we went to Farmers Market Ogall, where we saw a little girl playing in the mud and getting her clothes dirty. We jokingly called her "Dirty Girl" as she stayed silent when scolded for getting dirty. We tried the Nokyo Chips Furano (lightly salted), which had a strong potato flavor and a salty taste, making it a perfect snack to enjoy with drinks. Delicious!

Located inside Furano Marche 1, a collection of restaurants and souvenir shops in Furano. This store primarily sells local agricultural products, including vegetables, rice, melons, processed vegetable products, and fruit-based sweets. The bright and airy store with glass walls doesn't feel like a typical farm produce market. I bought the local potato chips called "Furano Chips" here and tried them as a beer snack back at my accommodation. The light salt flavor was just right and paired perfectly with the beer.

Freshness is outstanding with produce directly delivered from the farm. The texture is different and there is a shine. The frequency of touching hands of such people is low. Although there are many B-grade items, the freshness is not lacking. Buyers also need a discerning eye. Today, I was aiming for haskaps but couldn't find any, so I indulged in three varieties of mini tomatoes, B-grade cherries, cucumbers, snap peas, and broccoli. The cool mini tomatoes are crunchy and the green color enhances the freshness.

I visited Furano for the first time in nearly 20 years since my honeymoon. While driving on the national highway after work, I came across a trendy shop area and decided to stop by. It was called "Furano Marche" and inside, there was a place called Ogall. As it was a farmers' market, there were many items that looked fresh and appealing. The carrots in the curry were delicious, so I bought a 100% Furano carrot juice. It was very easy to drink and tasty. There were also many unique souvenirs that can only be found in Furano, so I bought a few.

I went to Furano Marche and stopped by. There weren't many vegetables at this time of year, but I found some cute tofu and bought it. It's called "Yume Tofu" and comes in various flavors, but I bought the plain and edamame ones. Both are silky smooth and soft, with a nice sweetness from the soybeans. The edamame flavor has a hint of green soybean taste. The size is perfect for a single serving. There were other flavors like yuzu, so I'd like to come back when there are more vegetables available and try those too next time.

I came to Furano Marche. I originally came to eat soft serve ice cream, but when I arrived, I realized I didn't really want to eat it. I bought some bread instead, and in front of the bakery, they were selling vegetables. It is run by the "Furano Agricultural Cooperative" and seems like a direct sales store. I went inside and it was crowded. The first thing I saw was a family from a foreign country, and a chubby girl was carrying rice. I thought she was going to buy it, but she dropped it on the pile of rice and started pounding it! Her family was laughing, but I was not amused. Let's not pay attention to others. I got angry watching them. My wife was looking at tomatoes. Our tomatoes didn't turn red this year, so she bought a lot. I also bought some broccoli. Our homegrown broccoli turned out delicious this year, but it's all gone now. Anyway, it wasn't a big shopping trip. The tomatoes will be on our dinner table. I love tomatoes, so I ate them all at once. Tomatoes are really delicious these days. They must be in season. The broccoli was used in the vegetable salad for lunch. It's a bit too hard, but it's better than overcooked or overeating. I had some delicious broccoli.

I purchased this at the Hokkaido product exhibition at Tobu Funabashi. It was a little while ago when I bought it. The Furano Soup Curry is made with Hokkaido-grown carrots, and the ingredients are integrated into the soup. The chicken meat, which I noticed was from the US, was a bit compact but turned out to be soft and tender. This time, I ate it as it was packaged, but it seems like it would also be good to add vegetables on your own.
