On a hot day with temperatures exceeding 30°C, I went to an event with my friends and we were looking for a cool place to relax. We found that there were few cafes in Takikawa city, so we decided to go to Rubian near the agricultural cooperative. The parking lot was small and cars were sticking out onto the sidewalk, but we had no choice. Inside the cafe, we were surprised by the retro Showa era atmosphere. There was even a sign for "Let's Meet in Sanraku Street" next to us, making us feel like we could hear Frank Nagai's song playing. The interior was a mix of subdued, flashy, and retro, giving off a pure coffee shop vibe. I ordered an iced coffee, while my friends got parfaits. The menu seemed to focus on different types of coffee, with many options that you wouldn't know until you tried them. The iced coffee came in a glass cup, which was unusual as tall tumblers are more common. The taste was delicious, with a strong coffee bitterness and flavor that showed they really cared about their beans and made it fresh. The lingering bitterness at the bottom was reminiscent of Blue Mountain coffee, leaving a lasting impression. Overall, it was a tasty iced coffee. The parfaits my friends had were classic and well-made. If you want to enjoy a Showa era parfait, I recommend giving it a try.
