The restaurant used to be in Shimokitazawa but has returned after being lost due to redevelopment! I remember it had more unique menu items and a more authentic taste back in the day. Now that it’s finally back, I went to visit. The menu has become more standard, and the flavors aren't as distinctive as they used to be, which is a bit disappointing. However, considering the overall prices in Shimokitazawa's Thai dining scene, it still offers good value for money—excluding the drinks.

The gapao rice was delicious!!! It had a perfect level of spiciness and was very satisfying with the rice! The fried egg on top added to the overall satisfaction! I don't think it was even 1000 yen for lunch, so I think it's quite a good value! It's a place you can casually visit when you're craving Thai food in Shimokitazawa!

I feel like Burn Kila used to be in a different location, but did it move next to Don Quijote? The taste of the Pad Thai was delicious, but the flavor of the Gapao rice was a bit too strong. It seems that some dishes are really tasty while others are just average.

I used to be in a very old building on the north side, which had a great local feel, but the building was demolished and we closed down. I visited the new location for the first time since its opening in February this year. It's part of the Don Quijote building, but they've expanded the space using plastic sheets. I enjoyed standard dishes such as soft shell crab salad, fresh spring rolls, and chicken stir-fried with cashew nuts, all paired with beer. Everything was reliably delicious.

This Thai restaurant in Shimokitazawa has been open for a long time and is great for a second drinking spot since it stays open late! They have a very large menu, making it ideal for groups. In addition to the standard pad thai and ga pao, there are many unique dishes that are not commonly found. There are a lot of spicy options, so it pairs well with drinks! Thank you for the meal! ☺︎

A popular Thai restaurant, known from Shinjuku, has opened a branch in Shimokitazawa! It has a street food vibe, and the dishes are quite affordable and delicious! The scrambled eggs with minced meat were amazing! The Yum Mama (instant noodle salad) would be better with instant noodles—I don't think it should be classified as soup. Haha! #Shimokitazawa #ThaiFood

Nichō (Shinjuku 2-chome) loves Baan Kilaow! It's a popular spot among the LGBTQ community since long ago. I didn't know there was one in Shimokitazawa too! Even after eating quite a bit at Torida Mura, we were totally hyped to go to Baan Kilaow! So we rushed in, toasted with a bottle of Singha beer, and ordered ◆ Phu Nim Pad Pong Curry ◆ Yum Woon Sen ◆ Yum Pak Chee ◆ Kai O Chim Moo Sup ◆ Pad Thai. It's been a while since I've had Thai food! Everything is affordable, and since the portions aren't too large, it's perfect for sharing among five people! On a hot day, enjoying food from a hot country is delightful. The food comes out super fast; it took less than five minutes after ordering! Both the kitchen and the staff are from Thailand. When we arrived, the place was full, but the turnover was quick, as everyone seemed to eat and leave swiftly (perhaps because the seating is quite tight). We also enjoyed our meal and were ready to move on to our third stop! The Shimokitazawa location had a slightly sweeter flavor overall. (Outdoor seating is available for smoking.)

I was craving something with a lot of ground meat and was torn between keema curry and mapo tofu, but then I thought that tom yum fried rice could be an option, so I headed to the restaurant. I was tempted by the khao man gai on the menu but resisted and went for the tom yum fried rice instead. What I got was packed with ground meat, and I was in a great mood while eating it. I thought it could have been a bit spicier, but it was still a good portion. Next time I come, I might try the khao man gai.

I visited for the first time since moving to a new place. It was tidier than before and had a nice, comfortable atmosphere. The taste was consistently delicious, and when it comes to Thai food in Shimokitazawa, it's definitely Baan Kiraow. I had the Tom Yum Kung ramen for 900 yen, and I appreciated that they maintained the lunch price until 5 PM for my 4:30 PM visit. I want to come back next time to try the green curry.

This restaurant used to be on the second floor of a mixed-use building at Kitaguchi. Now, the interior has changed from a cluttered Thai street food vibe to a bright and clean appearance. Nonetheless, I'm so happy that it has returned! The prices are still reasonable, and the staff are always smiling. I hope it continues for a long time! The Pad Thai in the photo is priced at 935 yen including tax. It was way too much for me to have as a snack with my drinks, haha. The Som Tam (papaya salad) is spicy! But that's what makes it great!

I stopped by while shopping in Shimokitazawa. It seems that this place used to be a coffee shop, but it looks like it has recently opened as a new restaurant. All lunch options are priced at 900 yen. Since it's hot outside, I decided to go for the Tom Yum Kung ramen, which has a large serving option for an additional 200 yen. While it wasn't beyond my expectations, it was a delicious Tom Yum Kung ramen that didn't get boring, matching its price. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to avoid making a mistake when choosing lunch.

Baan Khun Yai, which had been in the North Exit of Shimokitazawa Station for many years, was located on the second floor of a building with a nostalgic Showa-era charm. The building was demolished due to redevelopment, and the restaurant was temporarily gone. However, it made a comeback in February this year at the location of the former Don Quijote store! Their lunch is priced uniformly at 900 yen, but side dishes and drinks are additional, which gives a somewhat expensive impression overall. In today's world of rising prices, though, this might be the norm. This time, I ordered the "Green Curry." The menu has a spiciness icon system, indicating whether it’s spicy or not with two options. If there’s even one chili icon, you can be assured it’s properly spicy! The green curry was delicious and well-made. The portion of Thai rice was quite large—almost too much to finish. Half of that would have been sufficient. The atmosphere of the restaurant is rich in Asian decor, making it quite comfortable to dine in. One concern, however, is that this location has seen many restaurants come and go, so I hope this place can establish itself well, especially since it was long-lasting at the North Exit before.

I used to visit Baan Kilo often for Tom Yum Kung Ramen in Shimokitazawa! Since they relocated, I went back for the first time in a while. I love Tom Yum Kung and went there to eat it again. First, the soup… wait, is it sweet? Is there sugar in it? It was spicy and sour, and I was sweating while eating, but the flavor was completely different. I thought there might have been a mistake with the seasonings, so I told the kitchen staff that it tasted sweet and was different from what it used to be. The Thai staff member tasted the soup and responded that it wasn't sweet. Maybe the person making it has changed. I can't agree with the taste that thinks that isn’t sweet. It’s disappointing.

It used to be located on the second floor of a building across from Legal in Shimokitazawa. It seems they moved here due to the renovation of the building. I was glad to be able to eat here again after a long time. There isn't much information available yet, and it's not clear what payment methods are accepted from outside, but I was able to use PayPay.

It takes about 7 minutes to walk from the south exit of Shimokitazawa. The place has a vibe reminiscent of a Thai street stall, and there are terrace seats available. I visited during the lunchtime rush on a weekend, and the restaurant was almost full and bustling with activity. This time, I ordered the following: Yam Woon Sen (Thai glass noodle salad), fresh spring rolls, Gapao rice, Pad Thai, and green curry. It felt like I ordered all the classic Thai dishes, and each one was absolutely delicious. The green curry was quite spicy and packed with ingredients. All the dishes were quite filling, and I left feeling very satisfied!

I casually walked by and had a feeling that the food would be delicious, so I decided to go in! It was hot outside, so I ordered a beer and some snacks, starting with Yam Woon Sen. The Yam Woon Sen was authentic and absolutely fantastic! For the main dish, I was torn about what to choose, but I went with the classic Green Curry. It was yet another genuine taste of Thailand! I’m definitely coming back! Next time, I’ll visit in the evening!

I found a Thai food stall in Shimokitazawa and confirmed that dogs are allowed on the terrace, so I decided to go in. I ordered a simple green curry from the lunch menu for 850 yen. I asked them not to make it too spicy, but when it arrived, it was spicier than I expected, and I ended up drinking several cups of water. However, it was a truly authentic green curry and extremely delicious! I couldn't help but order an extra small rice for 150 yen. It was really tasty, and the price was reasonable. The staff seemed mostly to be Thai, and they were all very friendly, which was great.

I first visited Barn Kiloa over a decade ago, located on the second floor of a building in the northern part of Shimokitazawa. I've been there several times since and really enjoyed the street food-style dishes. Unfortunately, it closed in 2021, likely due to redevelopment. Recently, it reopened on the first floor of a Don Quijote building. This time, I went for lunch. The lunch menu has limited options but is quite affordable. I ordered the M-sized green curry and a mini som tam. I was pleased to see the mini series. The flavors were reminiscent of the original Barn Kiloa, and they resonated with me. However, I was disappointed that the lunch menu didn’t include the crab curry (pu pa pa pong curry) and that the rice was a bit dry. Nevertheless, I still really like Barn Kiloa.

The dish that was served looked nothing like the photo and was too small, with a messy presentation. The taste was decent and the atmosphere was full of exotic charm, which I appreciated. However, I was going to order fried rice, but decided to eat somewhere else instead. I only took a photo of the fresh spring rolls. The prices are affordable.

I recently visited Bar Kila, which has reopened next to Don Quijote in the south exit area after being at the north exit. We started with a toast using Chang beer and fresh spring rolls. The soft shell crab was delicious. We had a variety of dishes including green papaya salad, thick noodles similar to kishimen in stir-fried noodles, seafood stir-fry, tom yum ramen, gapao rice, and green curry. We ended up feeling very full. The level of spiciness, sourness, and sweetness can be adjusted with the condiments they provide, so it's fine even if you're not great with spicy food. The cost performance is still excellent; everyone had about two drinks and spent around 3000 yen each. I’ll definitely go again!
