◾️About the Restaurant|・7-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station ・Jamaican cuisine specialty store ・The signature jerk chicken is exquisite. ◾️Order Menu|・Charcoal-grilled Jerk Chicken (1,200 yen) The signature dish "jerk chicken" is marinated in a unique blend of over 10 herbs and spices, then grilled over charcoal. The skin is crispy, and it is served with a sauce similar to green onion sauce. In addition to the spicy dipping sauce, there’s also the Scotch bonnet sauce, which adds a sweet and spicy flavor, allowing you to enjoy a variety of tastes. It's recommended when you crave a hearty meat dish in the afternoon. Thank you for the meal!

A new store has opened in Shimokitazawa Ichibangai. Jamaican cuisine is quite rare, so I visited right away. The interior is simple yet filled with a reggae vibe, creating a unique atmosphere alongside the entrance bolts. I ordered the charcoal-grilled jerk chicken for 1,200 yen and a draft beer for 660 yen. Since it was a one-person operation, it took quite a while for my order to be served. The jerk chicken had a crispy skin and juicy meat. The spices were well-balanced and delicious. The rice cooked with coconut milk and herbs was also a first for me. It paired well with the chicken, making it quite tasty as well. I’m also curious about the jerk pork and curry goat, so I look forward to visiting again.

I visited the newly opened Jamaican dining spot in Shimokitazawa. It's on the 2nd floor of a building, easily identified by the green and yellow colors of the Jamaican flag. The interior is surprisingly spacious. The Jamaican staff member is working solo, but his Japanese is quite fluent (Wait a minute, I think I recognize him... *Cue foreshadowing*). There are three groups ahead of me (and more coming in after). It's been a while since I had Jamaican food, and while I would love to try jerk chicken, I noticed a big advertisement for the Shimokitazawa Curry Festival starting from October 18 right after getting off the station. So, I decided to order the Jamaican Curry Goat (1400 yen). It arrived in about 15 minutes, and considering he was on a fairly long phone call during that time, the usual serving time is probably around 10 minutes.
As I took a whiff, the aroma of goat meat wafted through the air. The unique wild smell of goat is something that those who love it will really enjoy. It feels more like a goat stew rather than a traditional curry. “If you like it spicy...” he said, handing me a Scotch bonnet pepper. This is delicious! It has a refreshing fruitiness paired with a sharp kick! If someone isn't fond of the goat flavor, I recommend trying this (but be warned, it's quite spicy, so avoid it if you're not into heat). I’m also happy that it comes with rice and peas— I absolutely love rice cooked with coconut milk. It reminds me of Good Wood Terrace in Shibuya (*Foreshadowing 2*).
As I was leaving, I casually mentioned how delicious the food was, and it turned out he had worked at Good Wood Terrace in Shibuya for seven years! I thought he looked somewhat familiar. Given the taste of the rice and peas, and his fluency in Japanese, I noticed the similarities, but I hadn’t been to Good Wood Terrace in seven or eight years, so I had no solid proof. I was shocked to discover it was indeed him! (Even though I don't usually remember faces, my remarkable memory concerning food is due to my love for it.)
It was so good that I plan to visit again soon (next time, immediately). By the way, when I asked if the Scotch bonnet was available at Kaldi, he replied, “Hmm, I’m not sure, but they sell it at the National Market in Hiroo.” Hmm... I think I’ll buy it on Amazon instead—I really loved it!

A new Jamaican restaurant has opened in Shimokitazawa Ichibangai. You can recognize it by the bolt illustration on the first-floor entrance and its colorful sign. The restaurant is located on the second floor. The interior is bright and clean, featuring a vibrant mural of Bob Marley on one wall. The star-shaped lighting and attention to detail add to the atmosphere. The background music is reggae. The chef is from Jamaica but speaks Japanese fluently. There were also foreign customers reminiscing about the local flavors. It's a perfect spot to brighten your mood for a casual lunch on weekends. ✧ • ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ • ✧✦
Jerk Chicken is a famous Jamaican dish, and it was my first time trying it. It's a mildly spicy roasted chicken. The charcoal grilling made it tender and juicy. You can enjoy it with ketchup or on its own to savor the spice flavor. It's served with long grain rice cooked with beans and coconut milk, which has a flavor reminiscent of red rice and a rich taste from the coconut milk that's quite addictive. I enjoyed it in various ways, such as adding brown sauce for extra flavor or eating the chicken and rice together in a bowl.
✦ Goat Curry is traditionally eaten during celebrations in Jamaica. It has a different flavor from chicken and is surprisingly easy to eat without being gamey. Like the jerk chicken, it's richly spiced but not overly spicy, and it includes a lot of finely chopped vegetables. The rice served with it is the same as that with the jerk chicken.

While walking around Shimokitazawa, I discovered a restaurant that got me really excited as a jerk chicken lover! They had jerk chicken and jerk pork, and even half-and-half options. I ended up visiting just 10 minutes after lunch had ended, so the one-plate lunch wasn't available, and I had to order rice separately, which was a bit pricey. Plus, there was an additional tax charge.
I ordered the half-and-half jerk chicken and pork with rice and peas. The jerk chicken and pork are grilled over charcoal and marinated with a blend of over 10 spices and herbs, making it a Jamaican dish that I absolutely love! Of course, the taste was delicious, but I think it would be great if they offered a one-love option for lunch because outside of that, it can get expensive. I'm thankful for the chance to try the rare jerk pork for the first time!

I came across this restaurant on Instagram and decided to visit because it specializes in my favorite, jerk chicken. The signature dishes, jerk chicken and jerk pork, were exquisite, with just the right amount of spices and herbs that allowed the deliciousness of the meat to shine through. The fish dish made with ackee fruit was a unique offering, and the staff kindly warned me that it might be an unfamiliar taste. However, I found it creamy and with a texture reminiscent of avocado or cod roe, which I genuinely enjoyed. Everything else, including the melt-in-your-mouth oxtail stew, was delicious as well. I learned that the goat curry actually uses lamb for easier eating, so I'm looking forward to trying that next time.

I found a rare Jamaican restaurant called ONE LOVE Jamaican Kitchen while wandering around Shimokitazawa, thinking about where to have lunch. I was really excited to try Jamaican cuisine! When I climbed the stairs and entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a counter and table seating in a cozy atmosphere. The overall greenery and background music gave off an exotic vibe! Without hesitation, I ordered the Charcoal-Grilled Jerk Chicken for 1,200 yen, as it was recommended! They also have Jamaican curry, which sounds interesting!
Here it comes! The beautifully grilled chicken with a large serving of rice! I can’t wait to dig in! The spiced chicken had a crispy skin and was tender on the inside—it was delicious! The rice served alongside was great too! It had a sweet taste with a hint of ketchup’s acidity, and I could enjoy it on its own! I finished everything quickly! I wonder if the atmosphere would feel different if I came back at night to drink!
