On this day, after soaking in the hot spring at "Oyado Kawasemi" in Kita-yuzawa, my companion said he was hungry, so we headed to Kutchan. Following my companion's guidance, we visited this restaurant and sat at the counter. We ordered "Gomoku Chahan" (mixed fried rice) and "Gomoku sauce yakisoba" (mixed sauce fried noodles). We could see a large iron pot being used to cook behind the counter. After about 15 minutes, the Chahan was served. The portion was huge! My companion happily exclaimed, "There are so many vegetables and it's delicious!" After about 5 minutes, the yakisoba was served. It was too much for us to finish (>_<) I first divided it in the middle and urged my companion to eat some (laughs). I quickly started eating with chopsticks. It was delicious! The abundance of ingredients without being too greasy was great. I finished my portion within the boundary line without stopping my chopsticks (^O^)／ As for my companion, even he couldn't finish it and had to put down his chopsticks. I'm sorry for leaving the rest, owner-san. Overall impression... It was the best ankake yakisoba I've had this year♪

On April 30, 2017, I revisited this restaurant for the second time after trying to go a few times but finding it crowded and feeling like it was more for groups of friends. This time, my daughter joined us. She had the mapo ramen, which was not spicy as they removed the spiciness for her. However, she found it too hot because of the sauce. My husband had the tonkatsu ramen again, and I tried the Cantonese noodles. The Cantonese noodles were loaded with plenty of vegetables, finely chopped so you scoop them up with the spoon and sip the soup, giving a satisfying fullness. It was light and flavorful with soy sauce. Although I didn't taste the mapo ramen, my daughter said it was delicious. It was very filling! I realized that the omelette rice was no longer on the menu. I also got the sweet and sour pork to go, and the meat and vegetables were finely chopped but I liked the taste. It was a bit pricey at 1,100 yen, but overall, it was a good meal!

I think the vegetable stir-fry set meal at this restaurant is incredibly delicious.

I have been going to Kutchan more often and often end up having dinner before heading back. So, I wanted to take a break and found this ramen shop when I searched. It seems like the kind of place you would go for a meal after drinking. It's probably popular with the locals! I had the chicken cutlet set meal. My husband had the tonkatsu ramen with rice. The chicken cutlet had a lot of cabbage and the soup was delicious, and it was quite filling. The tonkatsu ramen my husband had was soy sauce flavored and the soup was simple and tasty. The rice we ordered was also a large portion and very satisfying. I saw pictures of omurice on Tabelog and thought about ordering it, but it looked like a lot so I decided against it. Next time, I want to try the sweet and sour pork!

When I visited a mom's shop in Kutchan that I have been familiar with for a long time, I received information that said, "This place is amazing!" and decided to go there for dinner. It's called Kutchan's Manzoku Shokudo. They only open at night. The menu mainly consists of ramen, with options like katsudon as well. The prices are reasonable. Here is the special ramen that my companion ordered. It's a thick noodle soup with plenty of bean sprouts. I tried the famous omurice that I heard was amazing. It's not a large portion, but it's a big omurice in terms of size and height. The traditional ketchup flavor is delicious. Even I, who have a big appetite, had to give up in the end because it was late at night. Kutchan's Manzoku Shokudo is truly impressive. It was a small cafeteria with counter seats, table seats, and a raised area. The atmosphere inside was like a ramen shop. The menu offered set meals, rice bowls, and Chinese noodles, with a decent variety at affordable prices. They also had manga and magazines, making it seem more geared towards students and men. When we went, we had just come from skiing at Niseko and were still in our snowboard boots. However, the staff didn't seem to mind at all and were very accommodating, which we appreciated.
