After two months, I finally made it back. I went to enjoy dumplings and beer with my two good friends early in the day. Before we knew it, the place was packed. Today, they had cheese dumplings, which was such a treat! They paired perfectly with white wine, and I was so happy. Everything else we ordered was delicious too. Thank you very much! ☆

⭐️ I recently dined at the stylish gyoza izakaya "Okann no Gyoza," located near Ogikubo Station in Tokyo. ⭐️ The dishes I tried included the "Okann no Gyoza," salted kimchi gyoza, shiso gyoza, and boiled gyoza. From the very first bite, I was amazed. Each gyoza has a chunky meat texture, as they seem to be made primarily of coarsely minced meat, allowing you to enjoy the rich flavors of the meat more with every chew. Additionally, the filling in each gyoza is generous, providing a high level of satisfaction! Each type of gyoza has its own unique characteristics, so I highly recommend trying a variety. The signature boiled gyoza has a wonderfully chewy texture that I absolutely love. It's hard to choose a favorite because each gyoza is so delicious, and you can tell that each one is made with great care. The owner and staff were also very friendly and attentive, providing wonderful hospitality. Thank you! ^_^ There's also a secret room-like seating on the mezzanine, allowing you to enjoy a unique experience. With an abundance of hospitality, this is a fantastic place to enjoy exceptional gyoza, whether you're alone or with a group! Be sure to give it a try! ^_^/@okangyoza #OkannnoGyoza #OgikuboGourmet #OgikuboGyoza #OgikuboIzakaya #OgikuboFood

I had previously passed by this restaurant and was very curious about it, so when I found myself nearby again, I decided to stop by. It was just before 7 PM, and I was able to sit at the counter. The place specializes in gyoza and has a cozy atmosphere with counter and table seats on the first floor, as well as a second floor.
The restaurant is very reasonable, with no cover charge or appetizer fee. They offer a variety of dishes, many at around ¥500. I was hoping to find a gyoza set meal, but unfortunately, they didn't have one. Instead, I ordered a ¥400 orange juice, a ¥950 assorted gyoza platter (three kinds), and ¥300 rice. The orange juice was 100% juice, which was nice. The portion sizes were generous, which made me happy.
The assorted gyoza included "Mother's Gyoza," "Salted Kimchi Gyoza," and a weekly special gyoza that was shiso cheese-flavored. The "Mother's Gyoza" is described as "a large gyoza filled with hearty ingredients, the pride of my mother! Enjoy it first as is, then customize it with your favorite condiments." I tried it plain first, and the meatiness was impressive.
The salted kimchi gyoza featured kimchi from a renowned pickles shop, Shimizuya in Kichijoji. I was advised to eat it with pepper, and it paired perfectly with drinks. Finally, the shiso cheese gyoza was my favorite. I enjoyed the gyoza on rice, and they were quite filling.
Thank you for visiting my review! I’d be thrilled if you saved this post. If you find it helpful, that makes me even happier! I’d love to return the favor, but it’s hard to know who saved it, so if you could send me a message, that would be great! ^_^♡

Located just a two-minute walk from the west exit of Ogikubo Station, this restaurant features a variety of seating options including table seats, counter seats, tatami rooms, and standing drink areas, making it a versatile spot for different occasions! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, providing a great sense of comfort!
This time, I ordered:
- **Grilled Gyoza Platter (3 types) - ¥950**
A luxurious dish that allows you to enjoy three different types of gyoza at once! Each variety boasts distinct ingredients and flavors, with a crispy, fragrant exterior and a juicy filling packed with meat juices and the umami of the ingredients! Each bite offers a different taste experience, making it an absolute delight for gyoza lovers!
- **Boiled Gyoza (3 pieces) - ¥450**
These boiled gyozas have a chewy skin that becomes even softer and juicier through cooking! They pair perfectly with the dipping sauce, delivering a simple yet deep flavor experience. Their gentle texture is comforting and relaxing!
- **Daily Special Side Dish - Dashi-Maki Tamago (Japanese Omelette) - ¥500**
The fluffy and soft dashi-maki tamago is rich in the flavor of the dashi broth, exuding a homey warmth typical of traditional side dishes! With a hint of sweetness, it complements the gyoza well and adds a smooth balance to the overall meal. It was delicious!
The combination of gyoza and beer was unbeatable! I can't wait to go back!

This is my second visit to "Okan's Gyoza." The manager and the girls are friendly, making it a very enjoyable izakaya. The food menu isn't extensive, but there are some creative options available. I hope they have a gyoza menu packed with garlic!

This was my first visit to a small restaurant with a counter and a few tables. There were familiar customers at the counter, and some had bottles kept there. I came in alone and sat at the counter, which was easy for a solo diner. I ordered fried rice, a platter of three types of dumplings, and kimchi. The fried rice was flavorful and delicious. The dumplings included kimchi, pickled ginger, and one more type (six in total). They had a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, and the staff had a nice vibe. I definitely want to come back.

Recently, I went to this dumpling place with my mom, and it was delicious! I love making and eating dumplings, so whenever I hear about a dumpling restaurant, my family and I make sure to check it out. This time, we visited "Okan no Gyoza," which had a stylish interior perfect for dates. Each menu item was fairly generous in size, providing a satisfying experience, so sharing was a great option!
One unique feature of their dumplings is that they are larger than typical ones! Even for someone with a big mouth like mine, it was impossible to take a bite in one go! The filling was also packed tightly, making it very satisfying. The meat had a coarser texture, which added to its meaty goodness.
◾︎ The three types of pan-fried dumplings:
- "Okan no Gyoza" – a stable deliciousness! It pairs wonderfully with their homemade chili oil.
- "Salted Kimchi Gyoza" – recommended with pepper, which made it even tastier!
- "Cheese Gyoza" (a weekly special) – delicious on its own, but dipping it in the homemade chili oil made it even better!
◾︎ The boiled dumplings had a plump skin that was irresistible! Dipped in ponzu, they were so good that I could get addicted.
◾︎ The choose-your-own side dishes:
- "Tara and Shirataki Noodle Stew" – the shirataki was full of flavor and made a great snack.
- "Chicken Gizzard with Green Onions and Salt" – perfectly seasoned with a fantastic texture!
I also ordered the highly intriguing "Gyoza Zosui" (dumpling rice soup), which was packed with chunks of meat. The saltiness of the broth was just right, making it a perfect comfort food to wrap things up.
If you're looking for a good spot, definitely consider checking this place out!

I visited "Okan no Gyoza" in Ogikubo, where I enjoyed delicious gyoza with a satisfying meaty flavor in their fried gyoza and a succulent texture in their boiled gyoza. I've been wanting to go here for a while, and after seeing it frequently on social media recently, I was eager to try the gyoza.
The interior has various seating options, including tables, a counter, and standing bar spots, making it a relaxed atmosphere for different occasions. I learned that the second floor is available for private parties. I was seated at the counter, and we started with a toast over some beer.
First up was the braised pork belly, which was tender and flavorful after being properly cooked. It pairs perfectly with alcohol, so if you're unsure, definitely give it a try! The main dish was a mixed plate of three kinds of fried gyoza. The classic "Okan Gyoza" had a robust meatiness that was just what I was craving. The salted kimchi was served with vinegar and pepper, and it was juicier than I expected! Those who prefer spicier kimchi might find it a bit lacking, but I personally really enjoyed it. The weekly special gyoza featured shiso, which was my favorite. It's juicy but leaves a refreshing aftertaste, making it easy to have multiple pieces.
Next, we tried the boiled gyoza, which had a delightful, springy texture—definitely a must-try, as recommended by the owner. The side dishes were also delicious, making this spot perfect for anyone who enjoys a drink. The owner was very friendly, allowing for some great conversations during our visit. I'll definitely be back! Thanks for the meal!
Here's a look at their prices:
- Fried gyoza (3 kinds) ¥950 (one serving)
- Boiled gyoza ¥450 (3 pieces)
- Braised pork belly ¥500
- Dashi omelet ¥500
- Draft beer ¥580
If you have any recommendations for other places along the Chuo Line, please let me know!

While walking in Ogikubo, I happened to drop by a place called "Okkan no Gyoza" in an alley. The staff were really friendly, and I had a great time enjoying my evening drink. The gyoza was delicious, but the burdock curry kinpira was perfect with beer and really stood out.

♡Okan's Gyoza
I found a heartwarming set lunch in Ogikubo! This is definitely something I want to eat regularly!
What I ordered: Gyoza Set Meal - ¥990 with Jasmine Tea. It includes 5 gyoza, two side dishes (on this day, they were "infinite green peppers" and potato salad), miso soup, and rice (with free extra serving), plus a soft drink. This price is just too good!
The gyoza has thicker skin and is packed with filling, truly a classic gyoza! The way the skin turns crispy is impressive! I was happy to see options like vinegar, pepper, chili oil, and ponzu for various ways to enjoy them! The side dishes paired well with the rice, and I particularly liked the potato salad! The rice was also delicious, and I finished my meal in no time!
The restaurant has table seating and a counter, so it's perfect for solo diners too! The service was great, and I definitely want to go back again!

This restaurant specializes in gyoza, offering four types that are all large and generously filled. The gyoza is made and cooked fresh after you place your order. While the selection of side dishes isn't extensive, each one is well-crafted. You can enjoy gyoza and drinks, have gyoza with rice for dinner, or use the restaurant for casual gatherings with family and friends. It's a versatile place that's easy to recommend. Additionally, we have recipe videos for Moroccan, Russian, Myanmar, and Gambian cuisine on YouTube. Search for "Gambian recipes at home" or visit https://youtube.com/@KitchenStudioLoop8.

Okans Gyoza is a gyoza specialty restaurant located on the first floor of the Sakae Building in Kamiyagi, Suginami Ward, Tokyo. True to its name, this place offers heartwarming gyoza that feels just like what your mom would make. With its homey atmosphere and delicious gyoza, it has become a beloved "hidden gem" for many.
The signature gyoza is handmade, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The perfectly crisp skin and the rich flavors of the ample filling of meat and vegetables create an exquisite combination that makes it "impossible to stop after taking one bite." The taste, filled with a mother's love, evokes nostalgia and truly is a dish that can "boost your spirits with every bite."
Additionally, Okans Gyoza features an original dipping sauce that is another highlight. You can adjust the flavors to your liking using soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil, allowing you to enjoy a personalized experience with each bite. Not only do they offer pan-fried gyoza, but also boiled and deep-fried options, giving you the joy of choosing based on your mood that day.
The interior is a cozy and welcoming space, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or dropping by solo for a quick bite. The warm hospitality of the staff further enhances the charm of this restaurant. Okans Gyoza truly is a special place that can "satisfy your heart with gyoza." If you're craving delicious gyoza in the Ogikubo area, be sure to visit. You’ll likely be captivated by the charm of Okans Gyoza and find yourself wanting to return again.

I visited for the first time and was very satisfied with the signature dish named after the restaurant! On this day, I tried all three types (two regulars and one weekly special listed on the menu). I ordered a second serving of my favorite gyoza because the seasoning of the filling was just right. The gyoza, which was slightly larger, had a high meat content but was just juicy enough to make me appreciate the delicious filling! It reminded me of the filling I loved from my favorite soup dumpling restaurant, and I mean that as a compliment! In addition, I was pleased with the friendly service, the cleanliness, and although the space was small, I can understand why it’s popular.

I took the Chuo Line for a day out on my day off and had lunch in Ogikubo for the first time in a while! I visited a restaurant that just opened in April of this year. It originally operated as a pop-up in Harmonica Yokocho in Kichijoji. Now it has branched out to Ogikubo✨ It's an izakaya that mainly serves "gyoza," which is reflected in its name. Since I went during lunch hours, the atmosphere inside was calm. There are both counter and table seats, making it easy to enter whether you're alone or with a group!
This time, I ordered the lunch menu item "Gyoza Curry"! I was curious about whether gyoza and curry would actually go well together, but it turned out to be delicious!! The meaty filling of the gyoza paired perfectly with the mildly spicy curry sauce! I appreciated that the ingredients in the curry sauce were finely chopped, so as not to overpower the gyoza. It reminded me of the delicious gyoza my mother used to make. The night menu also looked intriguing, so I definitely want to invite friends to visit for dinner next time!

While walking around looking for an izakaya where I could have Hoppy after 3 PM on a Saturday, I stumbled upon Okan's Gyoza, which had caught my attention before. Although the door was closed, the menu was out, so I thought it would be okay to go in, and I found out they were indeed open. I ordered the long-awaited black Hoppy and three types of gyoza. The three types included Okan gyoza, salt kimchi gyoza, and cheese gyoza, with two of each, making a total of six. This was just the right amount for a solo dining choice. The Okan gyoza had a satisfying, chewy texture. It wasn't too overpowering and was delicious enough to eat endlessly. I wouldn't have ordered the cheese gyoza on its own, but since it was part of the three types, I got to try it. The six gyoza disappeared in no time, so I ordered boiled gyoza as well. This was also light and wonderfully chewy. I had to cut my visit short due to another engagement, but I look forward to trying other menu items next time.

This time, I visited Okan no Gyoza, a place just 2 minutes walk from Ogikubo Station. Gyoza and drinks go so well together! I was excited to visit this memorable spot in Ogikubo with a friend. The two side dishes, Mapo Eggplant and Stir-fried Pork with Ginger, were incredibly delicious! Of course, the gyoza was also fantastic. The menu offers a wide variety of snacks, and the drinks are reasonably priced, including generous-sized options, which is awesome! The owner was friendly, creating a great atmosphere. A few minutes' walk from Ogikubo Station, the area gets quieter as you venture a bit off Hakusan-dori. I had been interested in this place for a while, but it often seemed bustling with customers at the counter, making it difficult to get in. Fortunately, on this day, there was an available seat, so I decided to try it out. Although it was close to last call, they welcomed me without any issues. Contrary to what the restaurant name might suggest, the staff were all young women, and it appeared some customers were specifically there to see them. I ordered a mixed platter of three types of gyoza and a bean sprout namul. The bean sprouts arrived quickly, and I enjoyed a Hoppy while I waited. About ten minutes later, the gyoza came out. The platter included two each of three types: “Mama's Gyoza,” “Salt Kimchi Gyoza,” and the weekly special (Red Pickled Ginger Gyoza), for a total of six pieces. The gyoza skin was thin but a bit firm, giving it a unique texture.
“Mama's Gyoza” was filled with coarsely ground pork, cabbage, and chives. It wasn't greasy at all, and there was hardly any juiciness from the filling. However, the stuffing was quite packed. The Salt Kimchi Gyoza contained pork and onion; the kimchi wasn’t spicy, and I couldn’t quite identify which part was kimchi, but it was noticeably juicier. The Red Pickled Ginger Gyoza likely had the ginger mixed in with “Mama's Gyoza,” but it didn't have a strong red color. However, it did offer a subtle hint of pickled ginger flavor for a nice touch. The bean sprout namul was a bit watery, but I guess that can't be helped.
It seems like a great place to enjoy drinks along with gyoza, creating a casual bar-like atmosphere. They also seemed to have bottles available. I got the feeling that becoming a regular and getting to know the staff could enhance the experience even more, which is pretty typical for a bar. Thank you for the meal.

Three types of gyoza: 950 yen
Bean sprout namul: 400 yen
Black Hoppy + refill: (550 + 400 yen)
Various barcode payment options available
Total: 2300 yen

There’s a gyoza shop in Ogikubo that turns into a gyoza-centered izakaya at night and offers gyoza lunches during the day. The menu features not only the main gyoza but also salt kimchi gyoza, pickled ginger gyoza (weekly special), and boiled gyoza. After some deliberation, I decided to try everything! The gyoza from the kitchen was large and packed with filling, making it blissful to enjoy with a beer. The pickled ginger gyoza had such an addictive flavor, I couldn't get enough! Since it's a weekly special, I might get to enjoy different flavors next time I visit. The boiled gyoza was silky smooth, going down effortlessly, and the miso soup that came with the set was just the kind I love. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

It's a calm and welcoming gyoza restaurant with great service. The stylish izakaya has a thoughtfully designed interior. There are counter seats and tables, and you can also enjoy standing drinks at a leisurely pace.
Here’s what I had this time:
☆ Steamed Chicken with Zha Cai - ¥500
☆ Okasan's Gyoza (3 pieces) - ¥450
☆ Salted Kimchi Gyoza (3 pieces) - ¥450
☆ Boiled Gyoza (3 pieces) - ¥450
The gyoza were delicious—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Each of the three types of gyoza was tasty, making it hard to pick a favorite! I also heard they serve lunch, so I definitely want to visit again. If you're in Ogikubo, I highly recommend checking it out!

I visited "Okan no Gyoza" located in Ogikubo! Here’s what I had: a plate of three types of fried gyoza, which included Okan's gyoza, salt kimchi gyoza, and the weekly special gyoza; boiled gyoza; Okan's bean sprout namul; shredded chicken with pickled mustard greens; and Okan's daily side dish. They recently moved from Harmonica Yokocho in Kichijoji! The gyoza has a hearty meat filling and the atmosphere is great for solo dining. In addition to gyoza, the other menu items, like the side dishes, are also exquisite.
First, we tried the gyoza platter with two of each of the three types, allowing for a comparison. The special for that week was red ginger gyoza! They were all delicious, but Okan's gyoza stood out with its ample filling – truly classic!
Then we had the boiled gyoza, which is said to be a hidden favorite. The skins were plump and they slipped down easily... I could eat these every day!
We also enjoyed the dashi omelette (featured as one of the daily side dishes). I heard there are various options like eggplant and sesame dressing too! The freshly made dashi omelette is so comforting.
Above all, the atmosphere is so cozy that before I knew it, I had enjoyed a good drink! I'll definitely be going back!

[Delicious Homemade Gyoza That Reminds Me of My Mom!] Okan no Gyoza, a gyoza shop located just a two-minute walk from the west ticket gate of Ogikubo Station. I enjoyed a solo lunch and drinks on the weekend! I tried the Okan no Gyoza, salt kimchi gyoza, shiso gyoza, and boiled gyoza, along with steamed chicken with pickled mustard greens. The gyoza had a deliciously chewy skin! The boiled gyoza was plump and juicy! All the gyoza were large, filled to the brim with ingredients✨ True to its name, Okan no Gyoza offers a homely flavor that everyone loves! The shop was previously located in Harmonica Yokocho in Kichijoji for about three years before moving to Ogikubo and opening in April of this year. Just 10 seconds from this shop, there's another gyoza place called Nogata Gyoza, making it a great spot to hop between gyoza shops for a drink! I hear they also serve lunch sets, so I'm looking forward to trying that next time!

(This is the 576th store in the Ogikubo area) This is a new restaurant that opened at the west exit of Ogikubo Station. The interior is spacious, and you can enjoy your meal at the counter. There were two ladies attending to the customers.
This time, I ordered:
- Mom's Gyoza (450 yen, tax included): Three thick gyoza dumplings, served with ponzu and homemade chili oil. The chili oil isn’t very spicy.
- Salted Kimchi Gyoza (450 yen, tax included): The kimchi flavor is subtle, and it's recommended to pair it with vinegar and pepper.
- Stir-fried Pork and Green Onions (500 yen, tax included): I chose this from the obanzai menu. It had plenty of green onions and was a surprisingly great hit, making for a nice snack.
- Red Star Beer (bottle) (700 yen, tax included).
The total was 2,100 yen (tax included). There's no cover charge, making it a nice place for a light drink with gyoza.
