Recently, I visited a new sandwich shop called "SamSand" that opened near my place. They serve a delicious sandwich called "SamSand" for 280 yen and a soft serve ice cream from a local farm for 320 yen. The soft serve was smooth and creamy, made from high-quality milk. The sandwich was filled with seafood like salmon, shrimp, tuna, and egg salad. The soft serve machine they use is from Carpigiani, known for its high performance and smooth texture. It's like the Ferrari of soft serve machines, producing a rich and creamy soft serve. However, it requires complex maintenance and is not commonly used in Japan due to its high cost and technical difficulties. Overall, the experience at SamSand was enjoyable, especially the delicious soft serve ice cream.

After running some errands in the area, I happened to pass by this cute looking cafe around 2:30 pm on a weekday. I decided to stop by and was pleasantly surprised by the affordable menu options, such as sandwiches with smoked salmon. The frozen section had pizzas starting at 500 yen, which seemed like a great deal. The staff were friendly and they even had rusk and soft serve ice cream. The sandwich I ordered was generously filled with salmon and cream cheese, and it was delicious. The Margherita pizza for 500 yen was also a steal, with a good amount of toppings and great flavor. I was really impressed by the quality and value of the food. I definitely want to come back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I went around 4 pm, so there were few options available. I bought a fruit sandwich, chocolate banana, egg sandwich, and a pork cutlet sandwich (forgot the name). They were delicious. I have bought from the Daimaru store before, but this was my first time visiting the one in Nishimachi. I noticed that prices get cheaper after 5 pm from the sign. Next time, I want to try the fruit sandwich with red bean paste filling.

After dinner, I visited a sandwich shop in search of dessert and was drawn to the soft serve ice cream on display. I tried the soft serve ice cream from Kitahiro Farm for 320 yen. Despite the evening warmth, the ice cream was so soft that it started melting and dripping. The taste was creamy like whipped cream, with a refreshing aftertaste. It was delicious.

On a certain weekday, I remembered a sandwich shop that I had not visited before, and I stumbled into the branch located at 6-5 Nishimachi Minami in Nishi Ward. There is no parking lot, so I had to use my head. The building itself is large, but the interior was surprisingly compact with a refrigerated showcase and a display shelf for rusks and other items right by the entrance. From the menu that day, I chose a few items that caught my eye to avoid overlapping with what was in the showcase. The "Marinated Salmon and Avocado Cream Cheese Sandwich (280 yen)" looked interesting in terms of appearance and price. After taking a bite, I was surprised by the strong flavor of the salmon, with almost no marinated taste. The avocado and creamy cheese balanced the flavors well. I also ordered the "Fruit and White Bean Cream Sandwich (460 yen)" expecting orange bean cream, but was surprised to find this one in the bag... I don't have any preferences, so it's fine, but it was disappointing that it was the same as another branch. This sandwich had more thickness compared to the salmon avocado one, with plenty of whipped cream on slightly moist bread... Hmm? Oh, I see. Is it okay to have white bean cream with whipped cream? The blend of sweetness was interesting, with a refreshing orange taste at key points and kiwi, strawberry, and white balls with kinako. I suddenly realized that the soft serve ice cream, which was my main goal this time, was not available due to machine adjustments. Thank you for the meal.

Recently, I've been eating too much and my stomach has been upset, so today I wanted a light meal and stopped by Sam Sandwich. When I entered the store and looked at the sandwiches lined up in the window, the case was fogged up and I couldn't see anything haha. I got closer and checked each menu one by one, and ordered the ham cutlet sandwich and coleslaw sandwich. Even at this point, I couldn't see the visuals well, so I ordered by menu name haha (the window was useless...). When I got home, I checked the visuals again. The coleslaw had cheese in it, which I'm not a fan of... (I wouldn't have bought it if I had known...). The presence of cheese wasn't too bothersome, but the coleslaw itself lacked a bit of saltiness and didn't have much crunch, so it felt a little unsatisfying. The ham cutlet sandwich had thick slices of ham and was very satisfying and delicious. It was just lacking a bit in flavor, so I added mustard mayo and sauce to enhance the taste.

Lately, I've been craving soft serve ice cream, especially the hand-rolled kind, so I finally found the perfect timing to visit a place that serves it. It's located next to the Seiyu Nishimachi store, which is perfect for a quick stop after shopping. I was mainly looking for soft serve ice cream, but they also had parfaits. I prefer the simple ones, so I decided to try their soft serve. I also decided to try their Salmon Avocado Cheese sandwich. It was a bit pricey, but I wanted to try something different from my usual spot. Soft Serve Ice Cream - 320 yen, Salmon Avocado Cheese Sandwich - 280 yen. When I received my order, it felt quite heavy. I took a quick photo outside the store and then started enjoying my treats. The soft serve had a firm texture, not as fluffy as I expected, but it was rich in milk flavor and light on the palate. It satisfied my soft serve craving completely. When I got home, I tried the sandwich. It was a simple salmon sandwich with thick slices of salmon, reminiscent of Costco's salmon. The cream cheese was soft, similar to the filling in an egg sandwich, and the avocado was also soft. The flavors were focused on the natural taste of the ingredients. I really liked the soft serve and I might visit again when I'm in the area.

After shopping at Seiyu Nishimachi store, I went to SamSand Nishimachi store right next to it. Despite the appearance of the building, the inside was quite small. With Kotoi Sand now closed, this sandwich shop is quite valuable. I immediately got the Egg Shrimp Cutlet Sandwich, the Salmon Avocado Marinated Sandwich, the Avocado Cream Cheese Sandwich, and the SamSand Special Pistachio Pudding Sandwich, as well as a cup of soft serve ice cream from Kitahiro Makiba Farm in New Tokachi-cho. The shrimp cutlet was crispy and the shrimp was delicious. The salmon avocado had a perfect combination of fresh salmon and avocado. The pistachio sandwich had a strong pistachio flavor and the mochi texture of the sweet bean paste was a nice touch. The soft serve from Kitahiro Makiba Farm brought back nostalgic memories of the location from the morning drama "Natsuzora".

On a day off, after visiting various shops in Ebetsu, we ended up in Nishi-machi in Nishi Ward. It was a spontaneous decision to visit SamSand in Nishi-machi, which is part of the same group as Nagayama Rest. I had been curious about their sandwiches. The Teriyaki Chicken and Egg Sandwich was large with a generous portion of chicken and egg salad. The teriyaki flavor was just right, allowing the natural taste of the chicken to come through. However, the chicken was a bit thick and slightly undercooked, which was disappointing. The egg salad was finely chopped, giving it a smooth texture with plenty of mayonnaise, making it delicious. The Pistachio Pudding Sandwich consisted of pistachio pudding and cream. The pudding had a rich pistachio flavor and aroma, making it a treat for pistachio lovers. The Soft Serve Ice Cream was made with fresh milk from Niikappu Town, resulting in a fluffy and rich soft serve with a creamy, milky taste that was not too sweet and had a refreshing aftertaste.

I love soft serve ice cream from Betsukai Town and I was looking for it in Sapporo city. Unfortunately, the soft serve machine at the recommended shop was broken, so I ended up trying a parfait at Nagayama Rest. I mentioned in my review that I love soft serve so much that I would just eat that. I thought maybe I could find it in Niikappu Town. I visited the shop late, so they only had a strawberry parfait available. The soft serve was just the type I like. It had a good balance of sweetness and richness, with a refreshing aftertaste. I realized that I could eat this kind of soft serve every day. I love the soft serve made with Betsukai milk, and this one was similar. There was bread in the parfait, which I found strange. I think it was called "panpuri." I was hoping for more mochi instead of the bread. The strawberry jelly at the bottom was difficult to scoop with the large plastic spoon provided. I wish I could have finished it neatly. Nagayama Rest is much closer, so I will go there next time I crave it. I apologize for my excessive request this time. Thank you as always, wu-ta-san!

A line-up of sandwiches. Is the trend of fruit sandwiches still going strong or is it over? Fruit sandwiches seem a bit pricey. I'll go for the salmon and avocado. It seems that some sets only include one sandwich. But having two of the same flavor can be good for those who want to feel full and can't try different varieties.

I happened to go to SEIYU and found a new store? They were serving soft serve ice cream which caught my attention (laughs). It's the soft serve ice cream from Kitahiro Ranch! It's the fluffy soft serve ice cream from Calpis Journey! It seems like they also have a sandwich shop. They also have frozen pizzas. The soft serve ice cream is rich and creamy! Because it's Calpis Journey, it's smooth, but because it's fluffy soft serve, it's dense. It's a little on the sweet side.

On April 5, 2022, "SamSand," located on the first floor of "Sunshine Sports Club" near Nijo Market, opened its second store in Nishi-machi. There were rumors of a planned opening at the Daimaru Sapporo store, but it seems to be on hold. The location in Nishi-machi is across the street from the back parking lot of Seiyu, where various restaurants have come and gone. When I visited around 3 pm on a weekday, the bright and clean interior had a few sandwiches displayed in a refrigerated showcase. I rang the bell and a female staff member appeared to take my order of a "Ham Cutlet @180 yen" and a "Chocolate Banana @220 yen" for takeout. The ham cutlet had slices about 5mm thick with a light sauce, but I prefer thicker ham for the price. The chocolate banana had a mild chocolate cream with banana, and while the flavors were okay, the cost performance was not great. I would like to visit again during a busier time to try more items.

Near the subway bus center, there is a shop called Samsand that is planning to open three new stores in the suburbs, with one of them being the Nishi-machi store here! I was planning to buy a fruit sandwich, but when I saw a customer coming out of the shop with soft serve ice cream, I was tempted. And when I entered the shop, I saw they had Instagram-worthy parfaits! They also sell rusk made from the crusts of sandwiches for only 100 yen, in flavors like cinnamon, cheese, and Cajun. I love this kind of thing! Even though making sandwiches involves more effort and probably doesn't have a high profit margin for the shop, I appreciate that they don't waste ingredients. The 660 yen strawberry parfait was very sweet and filling, with ripe banana instead of strawberries, which was a nice surprise. I might end up just buying rusk from now on, but that's okay!

Sam Sand is highly recommended.
