A new confectionery shop in Higashikawa Town! This time it was my mother's birthday, so I ordered a strawberry cream decoration cake from a newly opened confectionery shop that I had been curious about for a while. The exterior sign had the name and message of the customer picking up today's order, which made me feel warm and happy as I entered. Inside the shop, there were stylish cakes lined up, and the staff kindly helped with the plate and candles. The strawberry cream decoration cake comes in three sizes to choose from. The cake has a rich yet easy-to-eat cream, a classic decoration, and a taste that makes you feel happy. The sponge is light and fluffy, making it easy to eat. I would like to order this decoration cake again for my family or loved ones' birthdays. There are many other cakes that caught my eye, so I would like to visit again.

This winter, the strongest cold wave has arrived, and Sapporo is experiencing poor visibility due to a blizzard. However, Asahikawa and Higashikawa are enjoying clear skies. I visited "PATISSERIE Harukuru" again. As a greeting, I passed through the small door of Taro. The staff informed me that they have just started selling eclairs. I jokingly asked for one, but my wife hit me on the head for it. The Eclair Chocolat is priced at 496 yen (tax included) and consists of hazelnut praline between layers of pastry, filled with custard-based chocolate cream, and topped with baked chocolate coated with more chocolate. The collaboration of chocolates on top is deliciously bitter. However, the hazelnut praline didn't stand out, and the chocolate cream was a bit monotonous. The pastry was mediocre compared to Harukuru's moist sponge cakes. Overall, the eclair was not bad, but I questioned whether it was worth the price. Perhaps they didn't need to start selling eclairs after all. This experience made me realize the importance of revisiting and reviewing restaurants, even if it may be a bit cold.

In November 2022, I took a drive to Higashikawa Town with my junior seat rider, Taro. The car's navigation TV screen showed a familiar face - Hasegawa Hajime, just for the first ride! He may not be as handsome as me, but he's quite good-looking, right? We were in high spirits for our first ride. It's great that the Nishikoi (carp) sold well, isn't it? So, we visited "PATISSERIE Harukuru" again, a favorite spot of the chappytsum family. It's a small shop where only two groups can enter at a time, but it's quite popular, with four groups visiting during our 5-minute stay. Taro entered and exited through the children's door next to the entrance, which was appreciated by both the staff and other customers. We ordered the Natsumizuki Tart for 486 yen (tax included). The custard cream had a perfect balance of richness and sweetness, and the strawberries (Natsumizuki) were fresh and delicious. The tart had a moist texture with an elegant sweetness and a hint of bitterness, making it a truly delicious treat.

On the way to get stamps at Higashikawa Michi-no-Eki Roadside Station, I ate spicy curry and then felt like having dessert. I searched and found a nearby Western confectionery shop! When I arrived, I found a cute shop with lots of baked goods and cakes inside. I was greeted warmly by the bright and charming shop owner. Although the delicious-looking cakes in the showcase caught my eye, I chose four baked goods to eat in the car. I purchased "Croquant" (162 yen) with a crispy and enjoyable texture, full of almond flavor. "Cocoa Sablé" (119 yen) had a crunchy texture and a rich bitter cocoa taste. "Chocolat Florentin" (206 yen) had a chocolate-flavored sablé with almond and cocoa nib nougat on top. "Acorn Cake" (270 yen) was made with homemade hazelnut paste in a cute acorn shape, with chocolate, pistachio, and almond to represent the shell. They were all delicious and I definitely want to try their pound cake and financiers next time. I must visit again! Thank you, "Harkuru"!

This time, "Harukuru" Tokawa, do you like spring? I also like spring, but I'm alone in Tokawa. I think I didn't choose Asahikawa because I wasn't looking for deliciousness in eating ramen. I was planning to go to Asahikawa, but I found a memo I had made a while ago in Tokawa. The memo had a map attached, and when I looked at it, there were many X marks in a small area. I thought I could earn efficiently... and at that moment, ramen became secondary. The memo seemed to be a cake shop called "PATISSERIE," but I didn't know what kind of shop it was just from "PATI"... I imagined it might be a cake shop. I navigated there, but it guided me far past the location... it wasn't there. So I had to rely on Google again. Finally, it brought me to a residential area. I thought, is it really here? It was a lovely shop. The interior and the cakes were very nice, and the prices were also nice. The very pleasant young lady recommended the "Shine Muscat Tart," and I decided to order it. Of course, it was expensive. I also ordered a "Shortcake," which was also expensive. It exceeded 1000 yen. It was more expensive than ramen. The cakes were really expensive. I understand, but cakes are expensive indeed. The young lady was very nice. The crust was crispy. It wasn't a cookie, tart, or sablé. It crumbled when bitten, bringing back memories. The sweet and sour Shine Muscat was delicious, and the cream was sweet. It was a delicious cake. The crust might be the key. I bought it thinking it was from a different shop, but it was from here. The crust was unexpectedly moist, the sweetness was mild, and it was easy to eat. The chocolate? It was a delicious baked confection.

Harukuru Patisserie: In September, I finally had a late summer vacation and visited my wife's hometown. On the way to Obihiro, I decided to stop by this shop in Higashikawa town. Located at the entrance of Higashikawa town from Asahikawa, this shop is in a new residential area. As soon as about 5 people entered, the shop became crowded with a variety of Western-style confectionery and baked goods on display. The Chocola Orange cake is a rich and elegant chocolate cake with a refreshing orange flavor as a nice accent. It is incredibly delicious! Personally, I think this is the best shop in the Asahikawa area.

In the tranquil countryside of Higashikawa Town, a new patisserie opened in May. As you enter the shop, you'll notice a small door next to the regular entrance, adding a playful touch. Inside, you'll find a variety of cakes, baked goods, jellies, and gift items on display. The cakes, especially those using summer fruits, were plentiful due to the season. I purchased three items: "Ameli" (411 yen) - coated in pink ruby chocolate with nuts, filled with raspberry jelly and lychee mousse. The fruity raspberry jelly paired perfectly with the sweet mousse and ruby chocolate. "Ete" (454 yen) - featuring passion fruit and mango sauce with a light coconut mousse base, including coconut dacquoise inside. "Peach Melba" (454 yen) - peach and raspberry jelly with a mild vanilla mousse. The cakes had a beautiful appearance and tasted excellent, reflecting a refreshing summer vibe. The shop owner previously worked in patisseries in the Tokyo area and later established a popular shop in Biei. It seems they have now opened their own shop here. Another delicious patisserie by a talented pastry chef has joined the scene!
