It had been a while since my last visit, as the place had become quite popular and there was always a line. I decided to try the seasonal dish, the oil-drenched chicken curry. I opted for extra rice, and when the dish arrived, it was a large plate filled with rice, curry, and plenty of oil-drenched chicken. The curry was delicious, with tender beef cooked to perfection. The oil-drenched chicken was also tasty, although the sliced chili peppers on top made it quite spicy. Overall, the curry was still of high quality and I left satisfied.

It took a long time to get seated. The restaurant only has counter seats, so I thought the turnover would be quick, but even if there was one seat available, they wouldn't seat you until there were two empty seats. Once seated, the cooking process also took longer than expected. If you have children with you, even after the adults finish eating, you have to wait for the children. Even if you place your order before being seated, they only start cooking once you're seated. The curry was delicious though.

"I also like the roux, but this beef curry is also delicious." That's how I felt when I visited a popular restaurant in Takatsuki and tried their tender and flavorful Goro Goro Beef Curry. Personally, I hadn't visited Takatsuki much before, but there was a restaurant I had been wanting to try when I visited this time. That restaurant is Vasco da Gama, located in Takatsuki, Osaka. I had heard about their curry through a collaboration with House Foods, known for their retort curry sold as one of the top 100 curry restaurants on Tabelog, and I was eager to try it in person. Although I was tempted by the limited-time Yann Yom Shrimp Curry, I decided to go with the classic menu item, the Beef Goro Goro Curry. Served with cabbage pickles on the side, this curry reminded me of Indian curry commonly found in Osaka, with a sweet flavor followed by a kick of spice and richness. However, I found the flavor to be even richer than traditional Indian curry. What stood out to me the most was the beef in the curry. As the name suggests, there was plenty of tender beef in the curry, and I was amazed by how easily it fell apart with just a spoon. It had been a while since I had a beef curry where the meat itself was so delicious. If you enjoy sweet and spicy curries or beef curries commonly found in Osaka, I highly recommend trying the beef curry at Vasco da Gama when you have the chance to visit Takatsuki.

This is a shop located in Al Plaza in Takatsuki City, but it is not inside Al Plaza. It faces the Akutagawa Shotengai. I arrived 30 minutes before the opening at 11:30 and there was already one group waiting. There are only 8 seats, but 20 minutes before opening, there were already 8 people waiting in line. It's a must-visit shop with a simple menu as shown in the photos, with a limited-time offer feel. The taste is spicy but not too hot, with a complex flavor that also has a hint of sweetness. I understand why there is always a line. On the way back, I bought some retort food from the neighboring Heiwado store.

I wanted to buy something near Takatsuki Station, so I had dinner at a highly rated curry restaurant. It was a weekday night and there was only one group waiting. I ordered the katsu curry. It was a sweet and spicy curry typical of Osaka, with a thick and heavy roux compared to Indian curry. I was surprised to see that there were two pieces of katsu on the curry. I upgraded to a larger size for free, but considering the rich roux and the volume of katsu, the standard size might have been enough. I was quite full after eating. Note: Rating when used 3.66

I visited around 8:00 PM on a regular night. I was torn between the limited-time Stamina Curry and the temptation of calories, but I ended up ordering the Katsu Curry. The curry had a European taste with a rich flavor, and the thick cutlet fit perfectly, making it a very satisfying dish.

I had been curious about this place because I often saw it. My wife, who had a slightly stuffy nose, and I decided to try it since we thought curry might help clear her sinuses. We waited for about 15 minutes as there was one person ahead of us. The first person to come out of the restaurant was a solo diner who had been waiting with us. The restaurant had seating for 8 people at the counter, and it seemed like most of the diners were there in pairs. As for the curry, at first, I tasted a strong sweetness, but as I continued eating, the spiciness started to kick in. It was delicious, but the curry was heavily seasoned, and it made my stomach feel heavy until the evening. Maybe because I've gotten used to the lighter taste of soup curry recently, I realized that I prefer a lighter curry.

I had to go to Takatsuki for work, so I decided to try the curry at Vasco da Gama. I ordered the large serving of pork cutlet curry with cabbage pickles. The cutlet was crispy, and the curry had a unique and delicious taste. It had a lingering spiciness that was just right. It's the kind of curry that you crave for once in a while. It was delicious. There are rumors that Vasco's curry has increased in price a bit. However, this is a restaurant worth visiting even with the price increase. Today's limited-time special is the Summer Vegetable Keema. This is a seasonal limited-time curry they do every year. The abundance of vegetables in it helps reduce the guilt of eating curry. In fact, with so many vegetables in it, even if you get the large portion, it's still a win-win situation! I might go eat the Summer Vegetable Keema again this month.

This is a restaurant I've always wanted to visit! It's my first time here, and I decided to try the limited-time curry instead of the regular one because the Kalbi curry caught my attention. I love spicy curry, and this one was delicious with a nice kick to it! The person next to me seemed to struggle with the spiciness though, so be careful if you're not a fan of spicy food. Since it's Kalbi curry, it was a bit rich, but I still enjoyed it. I'd like to try the beef curry or vegetable curry next time!

This was probably the first time I didn't have ramen for lunch in Takatsuki. I arrived in Takatsuki a bit later than usual, around 1 pm, and decided to pass by Hakkaisan first. Surprisingly, there was no line at this time. Normally, I would rush there right when it opens, but going around lunchtime might be a good idea. Tempted by the charm of no line at Hakkaisan, I reluctantly moved on. Back to the shopping street, I headed straight to Vasco Da Gama. Luckily, no wait here either. There were two seats available at the counter. Since it was my first time, I ordered the classic pork cutlet curry (regular rice) for 1,100 yen. I thought about getting the one with lots of meat, but I felt like having the pork cutlet curry. I didn't add any toppings. The limited-time menu was the spicy cod roe chicken curry for 1,200 yen. That also caught my attention. The sound of frying cutlets in the kitchen was comforting. Now, about the taste. At first, there was a strong sweetness followed by a delayed spiciness. Interesting, I didn't expect that. The cutlet was cut into small pieces for easy eating, and it was crispy from being freshly fried. I can see why it's popular. Knowing that there are other appealing restaurants besides ramen in Takatsuki, I may have more dilemmas in the future about where to eat lunch. It's a problem.

It has a strong Madras influence. I wonder if the owner likes it, or is it just their specialty? The curry was a bit thicker than other places, with a slight richness that I enjoyed. The beef curry with plenty of meat for 1,200 yen was impressive! I heard they have monthly specials, so I'd like to come back and try them out.

I visited the main store on June 4th to try the limited-time shrimp mayo curry, which is available until June 4th. There were about four people in line, but we were called in quickly. The owner thinks that curry over 1000 yen is a bit expensive, but when you see the amount of shrimp, it's understandable. I will definitely go back at the beginning of the month to try the limited-time menu again.

I ordered the pork cutlet curry for 1,100 yen. The curry was similar to Indian curry, sweet and spicy with a thick consistency. The cabbage pickles were also similar to Indian curry. I visited the curry restaurant in Takatsuki that I had been curious about. I arrived before lunchtime and there was a waiting list for 2 people. It's truly a popular place. Looking at the menu, I was intrigued by the monthly curry menu, but I ordered the Beef Chunk Curry and waited. While waiting, I listened to the BGM in the restaurant, which included songs by female idols from the 1980s such as Marilyn (Minako Honda), Kuchibiru Network (Yukiko Okada), and Roppongi Junjouha (Yoko Oginome). As someone from that generation, it felt spot on, and I suspected that the chef cooking was also from the same era. Now, the ordered dish has arrived. The curry, with three large chunks of beef, is very generous in portion. The roux has the characteristic taste of Osaka curry - sweet, spicy, and with depth. It was delicious. I wish there were curry restaurants like this in Sakai. Thank you for the meal.

First visit. Went to a famous curry restaurant near Takatsuki Station. Ordered the Beef Goro Goro Curry with seared cheese on top. Arrived in about 5 minutes. The aroma of the seared cheese was amazing. The curry was sweet and flavorful, with a strong hint of spiciness that made it very delicious. The meat was plentiful and the portion was generous. The store opened right on time. When I looked back, there was already a line forming with those who missed the first round. It was quite impressive for a weekday before noon. There were also many takeout customers, so the store was bustling with activity from the moment it opened. First, water and pickles were served, and then the curry was served about 10 minutes later. Let's eat. I immediately tasted the curry. The initial taste was smooth and had a rich, rounded flavor. However, the spiciness quickly pricked my tongue. The spiciness continued to attack my body, making me sweat on my forehead. It was delicious. The impression was not just a sharp sweetness and spiciness, but a combination of roundness and prickliness. I could also enjoy the depth while feeling the beef flavor. It was a busy dish all in one.
