Visited on Saturday, May 7, 2022, around 12:00 pm. I made my first visit to the original revolving sushi restaurant "Nagoyakatei" in Kushiro. There are a total of 18 stores in Kushiro (4 stores), Sapporo (9 stores), Obihiro (3 stores), and Shiga Prefecture in Kansai outside Hokkaido (2 stores). The Harusatori store is located about 4 km away from Kushiro Station in the suburbs, making it a bit difficult to access without a car. The parking lot is spacious, with a traditional Japanese exterior, and next to it is a yakiniku restaurant owned by the same company as Nagoyakatei. I was able to enter smoothly during the weekend on Saturday at lunchtime. "Nagoyakatei" offers the possibility of checking the congestion status and making reservations from a smartphone for all stores. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and has a relaxed atmosphere, with loud calls from the staff creating a lively atmosphere. Today's recommendations were written on strips of paper hanging down, with a variety of seasonal items including special menu items for Golden Week. The conveyor belt was filled with delicious sushi passing by. As for ordering, touch panels are not installed, so you need to write down your order on the order sheet provided on the table. You can hand it to the sushi chef nearby or even verbally communicate your order. Nagoyakatei's specialty "overflowing series" is famous for overflowing salmon roe, but I decided to try the overflowing sweet shrimp. It arrived on a gorgeous checkerboard patterned plate for ¥671, with a pyramid-shaped mound of sweet shrimp. To my surprise, there were 18 pieces. While the standard at most revolving sushi restaurants is 2 pieces per serving, this was quite a large portion. If you love shrimp, I highly recommend ordering this dish! Another must-try at Nagoyakatei is the affordable 3-piece assortment. It's a plate that combines the top 3 items from the menu, such as a salmon assortment, seared assortment, or a special marinated assortment, perfect for those who want to try a bit of everything. I ordered the mackerel assortment for ¥506, which included the "Tsubasa no Saba" that I wanted to try. It was a delicious sushi with thick, fatty mackerel from Nagoyakatei's exclusive contracted fishing ground! In addition, the menu includes favorites like Taraba crab miso battleship sushi, Tokachi-produced fatty saury and flounder, fatty salmon, straw-grilled bonito, and a total of 11 plates, all delicious. In conclusion, along with "Triton" and "Nemuro Hanamaru," Nagoyakatei is considered one of the top three revolving sushi restaurants in Hokkaido, each with its own unique characteristics. Nagoyakatei offers Kushiro's specialty Zantare, popular sweets like potato dumplings and pumpkin dumplings, and features like a drum performance when ordering overflowing salmon roe (currently suspended due to COVID-19), making it a popular choice. Wi-Fi is available in the store. PayPay payment is not accepted. Instagram @moritapan7
