I visited the "Winter Hokkaido Food Fair" at Odakyu Department Store Shinjuku again this year (until 1/27). I wanted to buy the "Furano Baked Cheese Curry Bread" that was advertised. However, when I arrived, I found that the bread was wrapped in plastic and it was actually the "Furano Baked Curry Bread" without cheese. I decided to buy it anyway and went to the rest area. There were fewer benches available this time, and there was no standing space, so it took me a while to find a seat. When I opened the packaging and took a bite, I realized that it lacked the freshly baked feeling. The curry inside was quite spicy, with only one piece of potato and bacon each. It didn't taste as good as before, probably because it wasn't warmed up. I had a disappointing experience this time, especially since I had just eaten delicious freshly baked bread at another Hokkaido fair the day before.
I visited the "Winter Hokkaido Food Fair" at Odakyu Department Store Shinjuku again this year (until 2/4). On the first day, I bought the "Creamy Cheese Dog" and enjoyed it at the standing space inside the venue. I had recently tried the "Furano Curry Dog" at Tobu Department Store's Hokkaido fair, and I couldn't resist trying another one. The sweet and delicious bread here, topped with juicy sausage and cheese, was irresistible. When I revisited on the third day, I learned from the staff that some people come to buy this every day. They even expressed interest in buying the bread used for this hot dog, although it was not for sale. I also tried the "Bacon and Cheese Hot Sandwich" that I had enjoyed last year. The way the cheese was placed was simpler compared to last year, but it was still delicious with juicy bacon, cheese, and mayonnaise. Before leaving, I bought the "Cheese Senbei" that had caught my eye last year and enjoyed it the next day (shelf life of 2 days). The hard dough topped with cheese had a strong garlic aroma. The texture was firm, and the combination of cheese and garlic flavor was just right. I ate it as it was, but it can be baked in a toaster oven to enhance the crunchy texture and flavor.
I visited the "Winter Hokkaido Food Fair" at Odakyu Department Store Shinjuku again this year (until 2/5). I purchased the "Bacon and Cheese Hot Sandwich" and the "Mentaiko France" that were advertised. Since the dining area was crowded, I decided to eat on the rooftop. It was a bit cloudy and cool, but the rooftop was a nice place to eat. There were no tables for dining, just a few benches. I started with the "Bacon and Cheese Hot Sandwich" which was no longer warm but still had a crispy surface and soft inside. The bacon inside was delicious, even though there was only one slice. The "Mentaiko France" bread was my favorite type of French bread, with just the right amount of chewiness. The mentaiko wasn't too much, but it had a slightly spicy taste that balanced well with the buttery flavor. It was a pleasant experience to eat outside, and I even shared some bread with a pigeon that came by.
