"Biennale" is a Western-style delicatessen that focuses on handmade dishes with the concept of "bringing the taste of the restaurant home." They offer a wide range of Italian-based dishes such as omurice, pasta, and hand-made hamburgers. Their salads are particularly delicious, making it a favorite delicatessen shop. I usually buy their salad, but this time I decided to try their cheese-filled omurice. The cheese melted nicely on top of the fluffy omurice, creating a delicious dish. Next time, I think I'll try their pasta!"

Today, I visited the large food court at Sapporo Esta once again. However, I have no intention of completing it before closing time (laughs). In fact, I noticed two shops that had closed at the end of March just by glancing around. One of them was a Chinese-style restaurant with an eat-in corner. I remember it being quite delicious, but I haven't seen anyone dining at the counter recently. It used to always be packed with customers... Today, I decided to try this Italian-style bento and deli shop. I was drawn to the last remaining item, the "Spaghetti Aglio e Olio for 500 yen," so I ordered it immediately. I took it back to my room to eat. Since it was cold, I heated it in the microwave for about 3 minutes. When I opened the lid, I saw a decent portion of pasta. The Italian-made pasta, coated in olive oil with a nice amount of salt and a strong garlic flavor, had a good texture. It also had cabbage, tomatoes, mussels, and scallops mixed in. This could be a good snack with beer (laughs). This kind of deli might be exceptional. I'll have to look for something else next time (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

In August 2021, I visited a department store to buy some food for dinner. I decided to pick up some delicious dumplings and ended up at a store called Esta while looking for other items. I came across a variety of side dishes, but what caught my eye was the half-boiled egg macaroni salad priced at 237 yen per gram. I take pride in my homemade potato salad, but for some reason, I can never get macaroni salad right. The store-bought version, however, had a creamy mayonnaise sauce that I couldn't seem to replicate at home. My husband usually buys macaroni salad from another store, but this one at Esta was even creamier. Macaroni salad can make a great accompaniment to sake.

I also bought some other delicious looking items besides the crab cream croquettes at the deli shop "Biennale" in Sapporo. I was planning to buy at least one salad, but I was tempted by the young chicken... However, I resisted and decided to go for something a bit more elaborate. I found it difficult to grasp the concept of "100g" when items are sold by weight. When I asked, the staff kindly showed me the approximate amount in a container. The customer service in Sapporo is always pleasant, with many cute girls (*´∀`). I purchased a pumpkin and sweet potato salad for 129 yen per 100g, and a burdock, carrot, and lotus root sesame salad for 237 yen per 100g. The burdock, carrot, and lotus root sesame salad had a mayo-like flavor, but lighter. Although I initially felt it was a bit lacking in flavor, I found myself enjoying it more and more as I ate. The pumpkin and sweet potato salad had a sweet and simple taste that was comforting. Both were undeniably delicious. Sapporo has so many tasty options. I would definitely go back for more if I were in Asahikawa. I could easily eat this as a main dish without rice (*´∀`).

Location is the underground floor of Esta directly connected to Sapporo Station. There were various side dishes available, but I bought the pumpkin and sweet potato salad 100g. Both pumpkin and sweet potato were chunky. There was nothing unnecessary. The seasoning was also to my liking. After buying it, I carried it around for quite a while and ate it on the overnight bus. I made a mistake and took a picture after buying it. You must take a picture right after buying it. Especially on the overnight bus, it's not good. The shaking and lack of light source are fatal! By the way, the chopsticks were provided by the side dish shop where I bought the salad, which was very helpful. You wouldn't expect to eat salad on a bus, right?

In June 2019, I have hay fever, haha! Having hay fever is tough, you know! On bad days, I go through a whole box of tissues, it's terrible! chappytsum tends to worsen during seasonal changes <(_ _)> So, I went to "Biennale" restaurant. I bought bone-in chicken thigh tempura at Itoham Eye Dining, so I decided to balance it out with a salad. In the end, I ate the salad that night and the chicken thigh tempura the next morning, so the balance of the meal was not quite there, haha. The lady at the store seemed sharp and capable. The salad with Mitsuba and Hina peel costs 367 yen (tax included) for 100g. This salad is quite good! The Mitsuba adds a nice touch to it! However, the Hina peel is a bit lacking in presence. But overall, the taste is delightful!

I'm at the food court on the basement floor of Esta with my wife. She was craving omurice, so we wandered around looking for it. We ended up at "Biennale," a place that always seems busy. She decided on the classic omurice and bought a half-size portion. Even though she was so excited to eat it, she also ended up getting a "peperoncino." I've noticed that she's been eating peperoncino a lot when we eat out recently, even though she usually doesn't like spicy food. So, we took the food home. The homemade sauce on the omurice was delicious, but reheating the egg in the microwave was a bit tricky. The peperoncino wasn't too spicy and had a nice balance of flavors. It had been sitting for a while, but the pasta wasn't mushy. I'd be interested in trying other items from there in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Due to a virus causing my computer to malfunction, the migration process to a new desktop computer has been completed. It took longer than expected due to it being my first time using Windows 10 and also because of health reasons. I have resumed liking and commenting. Thank you for your understanding. [January 2019]
I visited "Sapporo Esta" after a long time. Sapporo Esta (Sapporo Terminal Building) used to be the Sogo Sapporo store, a department store that closed in 2000. After the closure, it was transformed into a commercial building mainly featuring Big Camera. The basement of Sapporo Esta still has about 70 shops in the large food court. There are also food courts, with popular chains like Hanamaru Udon and Gindaco. When I visited Sapporo Esta after a long time, I discovered a new store called "Biennale" that wasn't there before. I went with my usual companion to buy lunch. This store is located in the JR Sapporo Station area in Chuo Ward, inside the basement food court of Sapporo Esta. For more details about the store, please check on Tabelog. Looking at the products, it is an Italian-style deli and bento shop. I bought the "Young Chicken and Mushroom Tomato Stew Bento" which seemed like a good deal. The bento had two tiers and weighed 512g in total (257g for the top tier and 255g for the bottom tier). The top tier contained a young chicken tomato stew with ingredients like young chicken, onions, shimeji mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, tomatoes, and basil. It had a good volume and authentic Italian flavor. There was also fried potato and marinated carrots. The bottom tier had white rice. The price was 626 yen (tax included). The "Young Chicken and Mushroom Tomato Stew Bento" was a generous large portion bento. The stew was quite authentic and the young chicken was sizeable, which was nice. The taste was a few steps above convenience store bentos. It was a slightly luxurious bento. Two-tier bentos have a lot of volume and feel rich. It's nice that the rice doesn't get dirty from the dishes. I wonder which good value bento I should try next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Duck and lemon something with tomato and mozzarella cheese Caprese chicken with lemon and cheese sauce something. Personally, I prefer a stronger flavor for Caprese, but everything was delicious! I would like to try something different again.

I bought a sandwich and dumplings from Shirokuma, and felt like having a salad, so I went to Biennale. I usually only get potato salad, but today I decided to try something different - mitsuba and hina skin salad, and macaroni salad with half-boiled eggs. I wasn't sure about the portion size when buying by weight, so I wasn't sure if it was cheap or expensive. I got 200g of mitsuba and hina skin salad, which had a good amount. The macaroni salad, on the other hand, seemed a bit small. When I got home, I tried the mitsuba and hina skin salad first. The crispy fried hina skin mixed well with the dressing, giving it a refreshing and non-offensive taste. It had a crunchy texture and was quite healthy. I would recommend it to those on a diet. The macaroni salad had half of a boiled egg in each of the two eggs, so I was lucky. Lately, most macaroni sold is the quick-cooking type, so having such large and long macaroni gave it a restaurant-like feel. It had plenty of mayonnaise, which suited my taste. It's a salad that would be perfect for those looking to increase their waistline. Despite that, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal! 🍽️

Welcome. ---------- June 2016 ----------Located in a corner of the underground food court at Satsuekiesta, near the entrance side. Hello. This shop, which is also in Shinsatsu, opened a few years ago, but it closed down for reasons unknown, whether it was due to a bad location or not. They seem to focus on deli items. "Omelette rice and hamburger are popular here♪" Let's go for the Omberg, a combination of omelette and hamburger. The patty is simmered to perfection. Crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. The smooth texture and light demiglace sauce make it a hit with kids. The patty is small and can be bought separately, but it's a bit pricey. I wish the demiglace sauce had a bit less sweetness and more quantity. The egg is just one, right? You can taste a hint of butter in the rice underneath. It's almost cheating with how good it is! The pasta seems to be popular too, but I'm worried the noodles might stick together if left for too long. The deli items sold by the gram seem like a good option too. Thank you for the meal.

When you have to think about what to eat every day, it can be a struggle. That's why I'm so grateful for deli shops! They have a variety of ready-made menu options, so you can just buy based on your mood. Today I had salmon and tomato carpaccio. The taste was refreshing and really good.

On a certain weekday, during a slightly worrying time in Hokkaido, I stopped by a Western-style delicatessen in the basement of Esta on my way home. The store was located in a relatively good spot in the basement and had a refrigerated showcase displaying visually appealing salads and various side dishes, as well as bento boxes on the side. That day, I was drawn to the sign that read "2 for 540 yen" and decided to pick two items that caught my eye.
The first was the "Spaghetti Aglio e Olio," made with thin spaghetti that had a crispy texture and a light garlic flavor. It contained tomatoes, skin-on chicken, eggplant, onions, and a hint of red chili pepper. The second item was the "European-style Spicy Curry Chicken," which had skin-on potatoes on top of rice and a surprisingly authentic spice aroma. When I took a bite, I was amazed by the lingering spiciness and the flavorful curry, which paired well with the intentionally firm rice. The dish was generously filled with chicken, onions, and I even detected a hint of citrus-like spice.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the dishes, which exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back to try more of their delicious and affordable offerings. Thank you for the meal.
