I have never been to Katsuya before, so this was my first visit. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was full. There were also many customers getting takeout. I chose the pork cutlet set meal with miso soup. The breading was crispy and delicious. The prices are also reasonable. Next time, I want to try the pork cutlet rice bowl!

I visited "Katsuya," which opened in Ogoncho, Takikawa City along National Route 12 for dinner. They were offering a special promotion from September 10th to 12th where you could get "Katsudon," "Sauce Katsudon," "Rosu Katsu Teishoku," or "Katsu Curry" for only 550 yen (tax included). The place was packed with people coming to take advantage of the deal. I didn't have to wait long and was seated at a table. I ordered the most cost-effective option, the "Katsu Curry," which is normally priced at 869 yen but was discounted to 550 yen. The portion was generous, with thick and tender katsu and a flavorful curry sauce that wasn't too spicy. The crunchy cabbage on the side was a nice touch. I also received a "100 yen discount coupon" that I can use until the end of October when paying the bill.

Takigawa Katsuya's potato croquettes are delicious, but it's disappointing that they are sold out.

The restaurant has a lot of staff, but the turnover rate and efficiency are so poor that the meal service is slow. What's worse is that the order in which meals are served is all mixed up. Even though the counter seat customers who arrived early, then us, followed by three table seat groups, and then two more table seat groups arrived to fill the place, we waited for over 20 minutes, only to have the meal served to the second-to-last table seat customers, bypassing even the counter seat customers. This caused unrest among the customers and made the atmosphere heavy, so I never want to go there again.

There was new store information, so I went on the opening day, but it was so crowded that I visited for takeout the next evening. They offered four dishes including katsudon for 550 yen each at the opening price. I ordered the katsu curry and waited for about 30 minutes before enjoying it at home. I reheated it in the microwave and it was delicious. The rice was firm, the curry had a nice spice without being too spicy, and the katsu had a good texture. I also received a 100 yen discount coupon, so I feel like I'll be visiting this place once a month. Thank you for the meal.
