One weekend evening, I visited a Genghis Khan restaurant recommended by a friend at the main store in Otaru for a dinner with my usual friends. The parking lot in front of the restaurant can accommodate about three cars. The interior of the restaurant consists of table seats, a counter, and a raised seating area. The background music playing is a variety show on TV during prime time. I compared the menu this day and ordered a bit differently as usual. Let's take a bite... The "Raw Lamb (780 yen tax included)" may seem like it has a small portion at first glance, but each piece of meat is surprisingly thick, with a good elasticity and tenderness, making it easy to enjoy the flavor of the meat. In the end, we ended up adding two more servings. The "Raw Lamb Shoulder Loin (980 yen tax included)" seems to have the same meat as the raw lamb but with added fat. As for the limited quantity "Raw Lamb Sirloin (860 yen tax included)," the difference was hard to distinguish, with only a slight difference in appearance with some fat around the edges. As for the sauce, it leaned towards being sweet, which hit a chord with my friend. The chili pepper similar to what Daruma-san uses was a nice touch, and adding crushed garlic made it even better. However, my friend commented that while the sweetness was good, they wished it had a bit more punch, showing their expertise in sauces. Other side dishes like the flavorful "Chancha (300 yen tax included)" and "Kimchi (300 yen tax included)" had a light acidity to them. The "Large Rice (350 yen tax included)" had a decent portion size, with firm grains and was quite delicious. Finally, we finished off with a small jug of Oolong tea (280 yen tax included). Our comparison point ended up being Daruma-san, but in the showdown of raw lamb meat, this place had better texture and flavor, while the sauce was a matter of personal preference, which I didn't mind. Oh! The menu said it came with "vegetables," but it was only included in the first serving, and even if you wanted more, you could only get more meat, which felt a bit lacking compared to Daruma-san where you can easily ask for more vegetables. So, thank you for the meal.
