On the first night of my trip from Sendai to Osaka, I visited a restaurant called "Sosaku Chuka En." I had a premium Qingdao beer for ¥1,100, a 10-year-aged premium Shaoxing wine (served in a pot) for ¥2,800, fresh pickled zha cai with sesame oil for ¥700, steamed chicken with scallion and Sichuan pepper sauce for ¥1,500, and mapo tofu with fugu shirako for ¥3,300. It was honestly the best Chinese cuisine I have ever had. I arrived before 22:00 at Namba (the closest station being Nagahoribashi), enjoying the bustling atmosphere as I descended into the underground restaurant with only 7 counter seats. I started with the refreshing zha cai and Qingdao beer, followed by the beautifully presented steamed chicken, and then the unforgettable mapo tofu with fugu shirako, which left me speechless. The dish was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating, and I even ended up ordering rice to accompany it. It had just the right amount of spiciness, making me break into a sweat. I had an amazing experience and will definitely come back for the mapo tofu. Thank you for the wonderful time!

I was aiming for the Shirako Mapo Tofu, but it seems it wasn't the season for it. Well, that's okay. Usually, I'm not satisfied until I get the recommended appetizer, but the carpaccio was really delicious. My expectations are now soaring. The spiciness was also top-notch, and each dish had just the right amount of volume. Even with just two people, we easily had 4.5 dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but everything was delicious. I will definitely come back again! Thank you for the meal! ♡

My phone broke so I stopped by the Apple Store, and then casually dropped by here. Going down the stairs and to the right, there was a hidden bar-like feel with a large L-shaped counter. I ordered various dishes such as stir-fried greens, mushrooms and eggs, peanuts with chicken gizzards, mapo tofu, etc. I also enjoyed drinking alcohol heartily and you can have a delicious Chinese cuisine experience for under 10,000 yen per person. It's perfect for a cozy chat with a friend. The creative Chinese dishes are the best.

I was in Minami and casually looked for a Chinese restaurant, and it looked delicious so I decided to visit without making a reservation. It turns out, everyone who came after me had made a reservation, so I was lucky. The restaurant was small with only a counter, and had an elegant atmosphere. I had incredibly delicious Chinese food. The menu had a good variety, but the portions were a bit small. I recommend the daily specials. I had mapo tofu, scrambled eggs (I don't remember the name), cashew nuts and chicken stir-fry, hollow heart vegetables, and intestines. The intestines went really well with alcohol, so it's a must-try for alcohol lovers. The mapo tofu was so delicious, it just melted in my mouth. I can't express it well because I lack vocabulary. It was so delicious. I will definitely go back. Make a reservation next time.

Located underground with only a counter. The place is in Shinsaibashi, dimly lit with a nice atmosphere. Everyone except us was a couple. Probably a place that focuses on taste. The dishes that came out were all elaborate. However, the portions were small, so if you want to share with three people, it's just one bite each. They have a wide variety of Shaoxing wine.

Visit date and time: 18:45 on a weekday
Wait time: Reservation required
Menu: A la carte
I had been wanting to visit this popular restaurant for a while, but couldn't due to the reservation requirement. The restaurant operates only at the counter. The prices are somewhat high, but the portion sizes are generous, so it's not too expensive if you don't drink much. I enjoyed delicious dishes such as sweet and sour pork with black vinegar and shrimp mayo. The Tsingtao beer was good, but the Shaoxing wine paired well with the food and was delicious. There were many other menu options, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The sophisticated atmosphere and the cozy feeling of having only a counter are the best. Of course, the food is top-notch. If you go around 7 o'clock without a reservation, it's usually full, but if you go around 9 o'clock, you can often get in. The menu changes every time, bringing out the charm of seasonal ingredients to the fullest in Chinese cuisine.

I also visited this restaurant after a long time. If you want to eat Chinese food on a date in a casual atmosphere, this is the place to go. Since it's counter seating only, reservations are a must. I usually order the Shirako Mapo Tofu, but it wasn't available this time, so I tried a menu I hadn't ordered before. It had a nice flavor with hints of sansho pepper and chili peppers. The prices for each dish are around 2000 yen, and on this day, the total bill for two people with one drink each came to around 18,000 yen. I used to not like century eggs, but the ones here were delicious and I finished them all. I'll definitely come back in the winter to have the Shirako Mapo Tofu! Thank you for the meal.

Juicy and tender meat with flavorful mapo tofu was great! I visited a popular Chinese restaurant in Shinsaibashi, Osaka for the first time. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 9pm and was seated immediately without waiting. The restaurant is located on the basement floor and has a cozy atmosphere with high ceilings. I ordered the mapo tofu, which had juicy and tender meat with flavorful mapo sauce. It was delicious! The service was great and I would definitely want to come back to this restaurant.

I visited a Chinese restaurant called En in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, which is known as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the west. I made a reservation for one person at 9:30 pm on Friday. They accept reservations even late at night, which is great. I chose dishes from the regular menu and the daily specials. The portions were not very large, so I was happy to be able to try a variety of dishes. I had century egg, steamed chicken with Sichuan pepper sauce, and sweet and sour pork with black vinegar. Despite being described as creative Chinese cuisine, the dishes were traditional and delicious. It was a delightful dining experience.

I finally had the chance to try this Chinese restaurant that my friend had been recommending for a while. The menu looked amazing, and the food did not disappoint. The portion sizes were just right for 1-2 people, unlike other Chinese restaurants that serve large portions meant for bigger groups. I will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. The mapo tofu was quite spicy. The total bill for the dishes we ordered was around ¥11,500. The restaurant is called "Sosaku Chuka En" and is located in Osaka, Japan.

I went to a restaurant called "Sosaku Chuka En" that I was really looking forward to. The restaurant has a 2-hour time limit and smoking is allowed, which was a bit tough for me as a non-smoker because the smoke from the person next to me was quite bothersome. However, if you can overlook that, the restaurant offers great value for money and delicious Chinese cuisine. The restaurant only has counter seats for 10 people and operates with a two-person staff, but the time it takes to serve the food is very quick! The portion size of each dish is moderate, so you can order a variety of dishes, which is great. Just be careful because the food is so delicious that if you get carried away and order too much vintage Shaoxing wine, the cost performance suddenly becomes poor. However, that's just a part of the charm, so I should start learning how to enjoy drinking in moderation (laughs). This time, I ordered Kanpachi Chinese-style carpaccio, century egg, shrimp with special mayonnaise sauce, stir-fried spicy oysters, stir-fried lamb with cumin, mapo tofu with shirako, and chicken and leek soup soba. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

It's Chinese cuisine, but it's light and delicious. The food and drink menus are very extensive. Even when full, I always end up coming to this restaurant. I recommend the salt ramen for finishing, and the desserts. I want to go back again. Thank you for the meal.

There are many interesting restaurants in the night-time Chinatown bars around Shinsaibashi. I visited a hidden gem of a restaurant called "Creative Chinese Cuisine En" located underground. I chose the cheapest type of Shaoxing wine from the various options available and received a pot of it. The pickled mustard greens were refreshing with a unique aroma and texture. They were crisp and went well in between sips of the wine. I also ordered the Dan Dan noodles. The spiciness was refreshing and the flavor of the minced meat was irresistible. The generous amount of spices gave it a strong and distinct taste. Despite the thin noodles, they had a strong presence, so I recommend being careful not to choke on the spiciness, especially in the bar atmosphere. The watercress was just right for resetting the spiciness. The restaurant was bustling with customers, but it seemed like it was almost closing time as one by one, the customers left. I had the impression that they were open late into the night, but it seems they closed before the date changed.

I went there on Friday night at 10 o'clock and got in easily. I ordered Qingdao beer, steamed chicken with leek and sansho pepper sauce, salt-fried A vegetables, Sichuan tantan noodles, and chicken leek soup soba. The gentle taste of the chicken leek soup soba is perfect for the finish after drinking. It's a silver medal Chinese restaurant in Shinsaibashi!

Local favorite restaurant, Sosaku Chuka En, loved by the locals! When it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine in Minami, this is the place to go! As you descend the stairs, you are greeted with a sophisticated atmosphere that feels more like a bar than a restaurant. It's a stark contrast to the bustling streets of Minami. The Dan Dan noodles are not as spicy as they look, with a deep flavor that is enhanced by a subtle acidity. It's perfect for finishing off your meal! The stir-fried oysters and bean sprouts are also not overly spicy, allowing the plump oysters to shine with just the right amount of cooking. It pairs perfectly with a glass of Shaoxing wine! The steamed chicken with Sichuan pepper sauce is truly a work of art! The chicken is tender and flavorful, complemented by the bold Sichuan pepper sauce. The service is top-notch, giving off a refined hotel-like vibe. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

High-level Chinese cuisine "En" in Higashi-Shinsaibashi. On this day, I had dinner with a customer who I have been grateful to since my previous job. It's always a pleasure to dine together regularly. We decided to make a reservation at "En," a restaurant we wanted to revisit after a long time. It's been about 4 years since we last visited with the same person. As we descended the stairs to the underground, we entered a bar-like space with only a counter. Smoking is allowed, and they are open until 2 am, making it an adult-oriented establishment. When you come here, you naturally want to drink Shaoxing wine. It's fun to gradually compare the 5-year to 15-year aged Shaoxing wines. I tend to drink too much. Regardless of what you order, the food is delicious. Their attention to detail in the sauces is particularly impressive. Personally, I would describe it as being able to enjoy a high-end hotel-level Chinese cuisine a la carte in a casual setting. It's a favorite restaurant of mine, but the menu is only written on a blackboard at the end of the counter, which can be a bit inconvenient. Steamed chicken with scallion and Sichuan pepper sauce for 1400 yen. The tender steamed chicken is covered in a generous amount of scallions and Sichuan pepper sauce, providing a nice spicy kick. Yellowtail Chinese-style carpaccio. Not listed on the menu, it is the master's recommendation. Fatty yellowtail with a hint of spice in a Chinese-style preparation. Excellent, as expected from a recommended dish. Mapo tofu with fugu milt for 3300 yen. Mapo tofu with plenty of fugu milt. It's hard to tell if it's tofu or fugu milt! Despite the spicy kick, the rich flavor of the milt adds an addictive spiciness. It's a bit pricey, but worth ordering. Shrimp with special mayonnaise sauce for 1800 yen. Crispy shrimp tempura in a rich mayonnaise sauce. A standout dish with shrimp mayo. Stir-fried firefly squid with garlic for 1900 yen. Firefly squid with a firm texture and good bite. The garlic is fragrant and appetizing. Everything is still delicious as always. I wanted to try noodles and rice dishes, but we're going to another place, so I'll stop here. Thank you for the meal.

A restaurant located in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. It is selected as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the WEST by Tabelog in 2021. I ordered: - Taiwanese sausage for 1000 yen - Sweet and sour pork with Chinese black vinegar for 1500 yen - Mapo tofu from Sichuan for 1400 yen - Rice? (price not mentioned) When you go down to the basement, you will find a stylish bar-like restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine. There is a bartender-like person at the counter, and in the back, they prepare exquisite Chinese dishes. I went alone, but there was a couple next to me, so it seems like a good place for a hidden Chinese date. I love this kind of place. Instagram: hide06_21 I have been writing reviews on Tabelog since March 2021. My nickname is Hanchou. I like going to many restaurants.
