I found a long-established soba restaurant in Hakodate! I really liked it because they have a wide variety of menu options, they are reasonably priced, and the food is delicious! I ordered the unique "Tempura and Tororo Soba." It came with grated yam and shrimp tempura on top, and the tempura was crispy and satisfyingly filling. The tempura made with spring mountain vegetables was also delicious, especially the tempura made with udo. Check out more details here: [Hakodate Gourmet] Ebisuan Main Store offers delicious and affordable Tempura and Tororo Soba, with spring mountain vegetable tempura as a recommended option! https://saron-sayuko.com/2023/05/29/ebisuan-hakodate/

It is an old-established restaurant. The staff are so mature that the concept of "service" is non-existent. No one greets you when you enter the restaurant, and no one asks if you have decided on your order. They won't bring you water unless you ask for it. There is no formal language used. The location is easy to notice for anyone visiting Hakodate - it's right in front of the only department store, Marui Imai. I ordered a mini pork cutlet bowl and mini soba, with a large serving of soba. The pork cutlet bowl had flawless taste with no shortcomings. As for the soba, the sauce was too salty and there was too much of it. The soba water after finishing the meal was not appetizing. Let's go for the atmosphere rather than the food.

Lunch at Ebisu-an. It's a soba restaurant located in the heart of Hakodate's Honcho area. There used to be a routine for locals to eat soba here after shopping at Marui Imai department store. The presence of a drum set in the tatami room is a mystery, but judging from the old wooden interior, it seems to be a long-standing soba restaurant. I ordered kitsune soba. The fried tofu was thin. The soba and broth were of the quality you would find at a standing soba shop in the station. Maybe it's because it's kitsune soba. I can't say for sure without trying other soba dishes, but I was a bit disappointed. It's convenient being in the city center though. Thank you for the meal.

I had the chilled zaru soba for 670 yen. I passed by the restaurant several times before, but it seemed closed, probably due to Covid-19 prevention measures. However, it was open today so I went in. The soba noodles were thin and had a good texture. The dipping sauce was delicious and suited my taste.

A soba restaurant in town. When I wanted to have a quick mori soba, I discovered scallop tempura! I ordered it. The thick scallops were freshly fried and it was the right choice to order. For those with a small appetite, there is also a mini mori available, so it's a good idea to stop by for a snack before dinner.

This is my first visit to the soba restaurant at the intersection of Honcho. I had the fried eggplant tofu soba with cold soba noodles. There were more eggplants than I expected. The restaurant was surprisingly deep inside and had a lot of customers. It's convenient that they have a partnership with a nearby parking lot.

I went to a local restaurant for lunch today. I usually have salt ramen or miso ramen here, but today I felt like having curry. So, I ordered curry rice with a side of noodles for 800 yen. I was expecting the typical curry rice from a noodle shop, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had deep-fried potatoes, eggplant, carrots, and green peppers in it. The curry was spicy and delicious, with a familiar taste that I've had somewhere before. The portion of rice was small, so I had leftover curry sauce. The noodles were soft and fresh, with a light broth that had a strong umami flavor. I topped the noodles with the leftover curry sauce to make curry soba and finished it all.

At the tram stop "Goryokaku Koen-mae," there is a long-established soba restaurant called "Ebisoan Hon-ten," founded in 1923 and currently run by the third generation. Upon entering, you will see Japanese dolls displayed near the entrance and on the left tatami seating area. There are two rows of seven counter seats facing each other in the middle, and on the right side, there are tables under a decorative tile roof (four tables for two people and two tables for four people). The prices are 530 yen for Morisoba, 630 yen for Oomori, and 700 yen for Tokumori. The broth for Morisoba is mainly made from bonito flakes and kombu, while the broth for Kakesoba is adjusted with mackerel and sardine flakes, and dried bonito. The seasoning is made with Marukin soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. This time, I tried the Morisoba, which is a longer type of soba commonly found in Hakodate. Since soba-yu (soba water) was not provided, the quality of the soba broth may have been lacking. Overall, it is a convenient soba restaurant to visit while shopping in the area.

It was a cold night, so I visited for the first time in search of oyster soba. The oysters were slightly small, about 5 pieces... The soba and oysters were not bad in taste and warmed me up, but... the greeting and order-taking voice when entering the restaurant was too quiet. This is a basic of business, so points deducted there. Let's go with more energy as befits a long-established restaurant!

It's so hot today, so I decided to have some soba noodles for lunch! I went to a place in Goryokaku. The parking lot was at a nearby garage, and if you give the parking ticket to the staff when paying, the parking fee is free. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice, but some tables were not cleaned up after customers left, so I sat at a long table for solo diners. The waiting time after ordering was normal. Now, about the taste... I found it to be delicious. The flavors were easy to enjoy. The tempura included two shrimp and vegetables like green peppers and onions. There were salarymen, women, and elderly customers at the restaurant, so it's suitable for both groups and individuals.

We visited a nearby soba restaurant with three people. My nephew ordered a large serving of chilled noodles, my brother-in-law got salt ramen, and I ordered miso ramen that I had never tried before. The chilled noodles and salt ramen were served first. When the miso ramen was finally served, I noticed something was off after a few bites. They had to remake it, so we had to wait. The remade ramen was piping hot but quite light in flavor. My brother-in-law's salt ramen also seemed lighter than before. Did the taste change? Did they change the chef?

This is the closest soba restaurant to my parents' house. I visited for the first time. I ordered the salt ramen for 600 yen. It came with a large slice of chashu, menma, fu, wakame, and a cut boiled egg. The soup was salty but delicious. The noodles were medium thickness and cooked soft. They were unusually thick for Hakodate. My sister ordered the soy sauce ramen for 600 yen. It had the same toppings as the salt ramen. The soup seemed to be made with soba broth. It was also salty but had a typical soba restaurant ramen taste. I heard the soba is delicious too, so I would like to try it when I have the chance.

First visit in a while, I felt like having soba noodles for lunch, so during my stay in Hakodate, I went to "Ebisoan Main Store". I arrived around 12 o'clock. There were 2 customers before me, but more customers came in one after another after I entered. The seats were quickly filled. The interior of the restaurant had a calm atmosphere, and I was curious about the prices. There were many reasonably priced soba noodles on the menu. I wanted to enjoy a generous portion, so I ordered the special mori soba. As more customers arrived, the service became a bit hectic, and the soba arrived a bit late. The soba noodles were drained carefully. Despite ordering the special mori soba, I enjoyed it until the last bite. The soba broth was a bit too much for the noodles. I poured it in too quickly, so it was a bit difficult to eat. It's delicious for reasonably priced soba noodles. I will visit again when I want to enjoy something refreshing during my stay in Hakodate.

This is a soba restaurant. This time, it is Ebisu-an Honten located in Honcho. It's about a 2-3 minute walk from Goryokaku tram stop. The location is good along the Gyokei Street. Honestly, I wasn't in the mood for soba that day, but the restaurants I was planning to go to were either closed for lunch or had temporary closures. So, I decided to look for a restaurant in the area. After walking around and not finding a place, when I was nearing the limit of my hunger, I remembered this place. Shivering from the cold and hunger, I quickly entered the restaurant. The interior is long with a long table in the center, two-person tables on the right, and a raised seating area on the left. I sat at a two-person table. I ordered the Tokumori set for 700 yen. It arrived shortly. The portion size was good enough. The soba was relatively thin. The taste was average. The broth had a good flavor from the dashi. I wanted to feel full, so in that aspect, it was satisfying. The interior had traditional Japanese paintings and dolls displayed in the raised seating area. There were also Christmas decorations adding a festive touch. Due to its good location, the restaurant had quite a few customers, mostly solo diners. The turnover seemed fast. After feeling full, I had warm soba broth and left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Highball and sashimi on an empty stomach are not good for the stomach, so I decided to go to a soba restaurant. This place also has a great location, just a 1-minute walk from Goryokaku Park. When I entered the restaurant, I was the only customer and the staff was not present. There were seasonal dolls displayed inside, but I wasn't very interested in them. I'm more interested in feeling the seasons through horse racing, like the Sakura Prize in spring and the start of the Hakodate horse racing in summer. I ordered the herring soba for 750 yen and a small bowl of rice. The restaurant has a history dating back to the 12th year of the Taisho era. The soba and soup were average, but the taste of the herring was excellent. There was plenty of seaweed in the dish. It was different from the herring I had at Hakodate Ferry Terminal last time, much tastier with no bitterness and bones that were not bothersome. I also had rice, so I ended up feeling full. Eating soba in a quiet space was a good experience. After the meal, I took my medicine and headed back to the hotel. Saturday is over. This restaurant seems to be crowded during weekday lunch hours. Thank you for the meal. Please stay tuned for more about my experiences in Hakodate.

Soup Curry Seiro - Soba Restaurant Ebisu-an The cold days continue. As you walk through the streets with your collar up, a cold wind brings a delicious scent from somewhere. A familiar scent for all Japanese people, the smell of soy sauce. Along with the soy sauce, you can smell bonito flakes. This easily lets you know that there is a soba restaurant nearby. Following the scent, you enter your favorite restaurant with a warm curtain. The cozy interior has long wooden tables in the center, two-person tables on the right, and a raised seating area on the left. The walls are decorated with Christmas decorations, creating a festive atmosphere. You take your usual seat and order the "Soup Curry Seiro," a special menu that you can't resist once you've tried it. The soba is served in a seiro, with a clay pot placed next to it. When you open the lid, there it is! A vegetable-rich Japanese-style soup curry with a strong bonito flavor made by a soba shop. Eggplant, okra, lotus root, carrot, shimeji mushrooms, shirataki noodles, potatoes, onions, boiled eggs, bell peppers, chicken, and more, a variety of ingredients. Oh, there's a new addition this time! It's... crab sticks! Wow, the ingredients increase every time you eat it! Thank you very much for the excellent service, sir. Now, you dip the soba in the curry in the clay pot. With plenty of ingredients, I tried wrapping the vegetables with soba. It has a satisfying texture and plenty of ingredients. Originally popular among foreign customers, the Soup Curry Seiro has become a service menu with a deficit, as they kept adding one ingredient at a time to make customers eat more. It is now popular among young and older customers, and there is always a line, thanks to the great value at ¥780 per serving. It is highly recommended for those who eat out often on business trips, as it is delicious and provides a good amount of vegetables. You can also switch the soba for rice, which is a nice option depending on your mood that day. Another delicious meal today. Thank you for the meal. Soba Restaurant Ebisu-an 1401 Honcho, Hakodate, Hokkaido 0138-51-2992 Opening hours: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM Closed on Sundays
