Visit date: Around 7:30 PM on March 26, 2021. On this day, I planned to revisit "○ru○tei" and have a set meal, but since they closed early, I decided to change to this restaurant, "Tonkatsu Tamafuji Chitose Store." It was actually my first time visiting Tamafuji. Unlike "Ka○ya" or "Ka○fu○" in Ebetsu, it seems that they do not have any donburi menu, which was surprising. I ordered the '"Aged" Pork Loin Katsu Set 160g (¥1881)' with the option to choose my favorite type of rice and miso soup, and I chose "Seasonal Five-Grain Rice" and "Clam Soup." The clam soup was not listed on the menu, so I remember it being a substitute for clam soup. Despite being dinner, the price was not cheap, almost ¥2000... The sesame and suribachi arrived first, and I waited for the food while grinding the sesame. I'm not a fan of sesame, but since it was provided, I decided to taste it as part of the experience. Then the pickles arrived. It was made mainly with burdock and other vegetables, showing the service spirit of the staff and the store's commitment to quality. The taste was refreshing and nice. After a while, the main dish arrived. It consisted of rice, tonkatsu, miso soup, and the pickles from earlier. The five-grain rice had a salty taste and was a delicious type. If you feel like plain rice is not enough, trying cooked rice or this option can offer a different dining experience. The thickness of the main tonkatsu was sufficient! Especially the way it was cut on the left side was large and full of volume. The batter was not too thick or too thin, and it effectively showcased the size of the pork loin meat itself. Grated radish, lemon, and mustard were provided, allowing for flavor variations when combined with the condiments on the table, offering a variety of tastes to enjoy. The crispy texture was satisfying on its own as tonkatsu, but since it was not tenderloin meat, having a bit more fat on the inside would make it even juicier and more delicious. The batter was not greasy, and the outer layer was personally to my liking, but the juiciness was a bit subdued. The tonkatsu I ordered this time was on the lighter side, so if you are looking for a juicier flavor, you may need to pay more for the "Toro Umami Pork Cutlet Set." I recommend eating the shredded cabbage with sweet sauce. (Although I was full and declined an additional serving, when my companion asked for a refill, the staff offered one, so I had a little more.) Despite not liking sesame, I tried the sesame sauce, but as expected, what I don't like remains... I wonder if I prefer spicy or sweet sauce over sesame. I have a few foods in the nutty category that I'm not good with, so I'd like to be able to enjoy the taste without any problems. After finishing the set meal, the staff brought warm tea, showing their attentive service. It felt like a restaurant that provides good service. It seems that Tamafuji has different menus depending on the store, so it might be fun to explore the differences between each store. Thank you for the meal.
