The shop run by an elderly couple. According to other people's reviews, it seems that the husband had recovered from an illness recently. I visited twice recently. The first time, the grandmother was alone in the shop. I ordered miso ramen. For a personal dining establishment, the miso ramen made by the grandmother had quite a lot of ingredients and came with a hearty, fatty chashu on top. The soup had a slightly burnt taste, and the oil used seemed a bit old... but I didn't mind and enjoyed it. I like the thick, fatty, and unseasoned juicy chashu that you don't often see in other shops. I dislike the dry and tough type, so I find this one easier to eat. There are some older reviews mentioning tough chashu, so maybe it's different now. Well, you can see the juiciness of the chashu I had in the photo. On this day, the grandmother gave me a piece of senbei as a souvenir, like giving a snack to a grandchild. I wanted to eat pork bowl on another day. This time, the couple was there together. The meat in the pork bowl was juicy and fatty, and the sweet and salty delicious sauce was poured over the meat in a way that retained moisture, making it a type of pork bowl meat that I like, free from dryness. The meat was incredibly delicious, but to be blunt, the rice was cooked terribly!!! If it absorbed a bit more water, it would have been porridge! The rice was so sticky and mushy, it was almost like rice gruel! However, the taste of the meat itself and the rich sauce were so delicious that I managed to finish the rice as well. On this day, as mentioned in other reviews, the grandmother gave me a boiled egg to eat before the meal. There were also days when she asked if I wanted tea or coffee after the meal, and she seemed to be the caring type who wanted to provide various extras even though they were not included in the set. However, it seems that she is getting quite old recently and things are getting difficult, as the table at the back of the shop was overflowing with items and one table for customers was unusable. Nevertheless, since they offer quite a variety of authentic dishes, I hope they can continue to do their best in a relaxed manner. *I also included a photo of the menu. The prices vary quite a bit, and there are some unexpectedly expensive items for a senior dining establishment, which surprised me a bit.

I saw a shop with a curtain hanging outside as I was passing by, so I happily decided to go in. The owner had been sick and hospitalized, but I heard that they had finally recovered and reopened the shop. I tried the yakisoba for 650 yen, with an option for a larger portion for an extra 100 yen. It was a huge serving with two portions of noodles. I ate it all in one go because I didn't want to feel too full, and it was delicious. I was pleased with the complimentary coffee and rice crackers. Please take care of yourself and don't overexert. I will definitely visit again. The curry rice in a large portion was delicious. I also enjoyed the boiled egg and coffee. The pork bowl in a large portion was tasty, even though the rice was a bit soft.

I visited Mr. Kinuemon's recommended restaurant for the first time. The name and interior of the restaurant were a bit impressive, but it was a very nice place. I tried the special omelette rice from Gomihachi. The owner was not there, so I think it was the owner's wife who made it for me. It was very delicious (๑´ڡ`๑). As a service, they also gave me coffee, boiled egg, and side dishes (^o^). The portion of the pork cutlet rice bowl was large. The taste was average. The person next to me had a cold soba with a huge rice ball as a side. I think it's a nice restaurant with good service. The soy sauce ramen was not a large portion, but it was a lot of ramen. I received a boiled egg, coffee, and sweet potato as a service. Thank you!! The miso vegetable ramen in large portion comes in a huge amount. It's better to avoid it unless you have a big appetite. I recommend the salt ramen.

I was really full and it was tough, but I finished it. The taste is delicious, not too spicy. I recommend trying it on an empty stomach.

It's a revisit. After seeing the reviews from bsccdesu and dahlian38, I thought, "Oh yeah, I haven't tried the miso ramen yet... and the cat seems interesting, too," so I decided to go back and check it out. At 12:00, there was one customer at the counter and two in the tatami room. Oh, it's like Ryohei and his mother. And there were two young men and a young woman as well (they weren't there before)! The men were also cooking. The "ginger set meal" seems to be popular. They were cutting slices from a lump of pork loin. The man at the counter brought me coffee after I finished eating - he's a regular! He was reading a manga. When two more male customers arrived, the woman said, "The curry is ready," and soon after, curry and curry soba were served to the two men (did they make a phone reservation?? lol). Wow, both dishes looked delicious! The curry had a boiled egg on top, salad on the side, and pickles. And the soba looked delicious too. The father and the curry man talked about fishing. Before long, my miso ramen arrived. "The chashu is fatty! (I like the dry, lean chashu from before)" There were plenty of vegetables. The miso ramen was just as dahlian38 described - it becomes slightly spicy as you eat it, similar to Kamui's miso. The noodles were medium-thin (similar to Shinba's Tsukemen noodles). When the curry man finished eating, he said to me, "Are you taking pictures with your camera!? lol." Me: "Uh, yeah..." Curry man: "??? lol" Me: "Do you know Tabelog (a restaurant review site)?" Curry man: "Are you going around to different places for Tabelog?" Me: "Sort of (it's a revisit though lol)..." Curry man: "Is this place listed on there? Who posted it? Did your brother post it?" He asked the cooking man, who shook his head. Father: "It's the customers who post." Curry man: "Does it say that the old folks are running this place? lolol" As I continued eating, another regular customer at a different counter asked me, "What's famous here?" Me: "Um... maybe the ramen? (There's only ramen listed lol)" Then the curry man said, "If you try the pork cutlet curry here, you'll be surprised! You might not be able to finish it without two girls." (Wow, I want to try it! dahlian38, you should give it a try!) After finishing the meal, things calmed down a bit, and the father started chatting with the regular customer next to him. When I asked the mother, "Is the cat doing well?" she said, "It's still here." Upon further inquiry, I found out that there are two more cats besides Dora, and they have to keep two of them inside because Dora starts fights. The names of the cats are "Sco" and "Mofu." I was surprised to hear "Sco" (Scottish Fold) from the mother. The video of them is really funny → https://youtu.be/EKIaTBK3BBk

I was planning to go to "Kanemori" but it was closed on Wednesdays. I tried going to "Haruyoshi" but it was crowded so I gave up. I decided to go to "Gomihachin" after a long time. I noticed that there were more young staff members (one male and one female) and the sticky tables were now clean. I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" and my wife ordered the "Gomi Vegetable Ramen". The boiled eggs before the ramen arrived were still there, my wife ate hers with salt while I peeled mine and waited. Soon, our ramen arrived. As usual, the portions were huge. My shoyu ramen had two slices of chewy chashu, stir-fried meat and vegetables, naruto, and menma on top. The noodles were medium-thin and there was about 1.5 servings worth, so ordering a large size was unnecessary. The taste was like a typical ramen shop, hot and delicious until the end. My wife's Gomi Vegetable Ramen was more like a Gomoku Ramen, with the option to choose the flavor. She chose miso. There was no chashu, but plenty of vegetables, a little pork, shrimp, and squid, making it quite filling. The taste was not too strong and easy to eat. This place is affordable and has generous portions, making it suitable for students. The customers were mostly regular middle-aged and elderly people, creating a homey atmosphere. The cat that was there last time didn't show up this time. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

"Five Flavors Eight Treasures" in Kitami, I was trying to complete the ramen conquest of all the restaurants. I thought this would be the final countdown, but unexpectedly, I chose this restaurant from my notes. Many of the restaurants listed on food review sites are already closed, and even today, five more were gone. I thought this one was also closed... But when I arrived, it was still there. I often pass by this place across from the driving range, where I used to practice, but I've stopped practicing now. I realized that practicing is just a waste of time as my recent results have been good without it. The curtain was hanging, so I decided to enter. If it wasn't for the challenge of conquering all the ramen restaurants in Kitami, I definitely wouldn't have gone in. Inside, there were four staff members and only me as the customer, creating a sense of pressure. Why does this place need four staff members? It must be a thriving establishment. There is an L-shaped counter, table seats, and even a raised seating area - it's like a cafeteria. When I looked at the menu, I thought they only served noodles, but there was more on the back. It's really like a cafeteria here. They gave me a boiled egg, which I appreciate, but it won't fit in my stomach. There were stacks of styrofoam and cardboard, and despite the number of staff, things weren't tidy. This place must not be a battlefield for you guys, right? I ordered the "Salt Ramen" for 600 yen. All four staff members started working at once. They were silent at first, but then they started chatting. After 12 minutes, the Salt Ramen arrived. The noodles were firm due to low water content. The chashu had a good chewy texture, and there were plenty of cabbage, carrot, narutomaki, and menma (bamboo shoots, salted). I like the old-fashioned style of having the vegetables in it. The portion was so big that I couldn't finish it all. The noodles absorbed the soup and started to blend in. The soup was salty, with a decent umami and richness. It's a shame, though. There was a slight smell that I didn't like. The 600 yen price is not bad, right? It's not about the smell. I decided to take the boiled egg with me since it was offered. I left some of the ramen uneaten... I'm sorry."

I went to the restaurant based on Ken's review. It was past 2 pm, so it was quiet. They were washing a large number of bento boxes (maybe they do catering?). The owner looked like actor Roppai Masanao, and the woman resembled Shizuka from Nankai Candies (maybe she's a part-time worker?). They called the owner "Master" as Ken mentioned. The tables were a bit sticky as Ken described. The mother took orders, cut green onions and char siu, and set up the rice bowls. The owner started stir-frying vegetables in a pan. A regular customer came in and ordered ginger pork without mayonnaise. It was a peaceful and slow-paced atmosphere with no background music or TV. The ramen was served with plenty of vegetables and a bonus boiled egg. Two slices of char siu were also included. The soup was cloudy but had a nostalgic taste. It was piping hot and delicious. The bamboo shoots had a slightly sour taste. Although it was only one serving of noodles, it felt like a lot. The noodles were thinner than medium thickness but had a firm texture. The ramen had a nostalgic flavor and was delicious. After serving the ginger pork, the woman started eating her meal in the back. The mother mentioned that the pickles were a gift from someone. The owner sat down and started reading the newspaper. Suddenly, a customer arrived, but it was a cat at the entrance looking in. It was a clever cat that didn't come inside. After finishing the meal, the mother offered tea, but the customer declined as they were full. It was a very relaxing time. The boiled egg was taken home.

◆November 2015◆ I had been curious about Gomihachin on Miwa Street for a long time. There is a shop called Gomihachin on Honshu, but it doesn't seem to be related. The interior of the shop is quite spacious, with an L-shaped counter, 4-person tables, and a raised tatami seating area. There are cardboard boxes and foam cases stacked up inside, and the tables are a bit sticky, not very clean. Some people might find it off-putting, but personally, it doesn't bother me much. The shop seems to be run by an elderly couple. It feels a bit lonely without any background music, so I think it would be nice to have a TV or radio playing. [About the Menu] They offer noodles like ramen, soba, and yakisoba, as well as rice dishes like curry, donburi, set meals, and omurice. The prices are relatively cheap. I ordered the miso ramen. The first thing that catches your eye is the two large slices of chashu. They look a bit pale, maybe they are chicken chashu? There are also menma, green onions, bean sprouts, onions, and naruto. The noodles and toppings are quite voluminous. There's probably about 1.5 servings of noodles. The soup has a slight acidity but is rich and spicy miso flavor. It's quite delicious, similar to Kamui's miso ramen. It's tastier than I expected. However, no matter how much I eat, the noodles seem endless. They also had a vegetable ramen, but I'm glad I stuck with the regular one. It was plenty of vegetables in the regular ramen. The lady was kind, offering a boiled egg as a service and serving tea. This shop must be cherished by regular customers. Now I'm curious about trying their curry rice and ginger pork set meal. I'll have to try one of those next time.
