One day late, I was able to celebrate my birthday with my partner. We went to Marukin Sushi, which is close to home but somehow feels far. It's been about 6 years since I last visited this place. We started with a bottle of beer and a complimentary dish of scallops and squid salted fish guts. We ordered sushi, oyster tempura, and sardine sushi. Everything was delicious, especially the sardines. The sushi and oyster tempura were also very tasty. The table seating allowed us to relax and enjoy our meal comfortably. In terms of price and satisfaction, this non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant may be quite affordable. Perhaps the place has improved with age, I thought.

Visit date: December 15, 2019 For dinner on this day, I visited Marukin Sushi with a companion. We arrived around 8:10 PM and found a few other customers already there. We ordered: - Jyo Namachirashi (deluxe chirashi) for 2200 yen + large size for 100 yen - Jyo Namasu (deluxe sushi) for 2000 yen The food was served in about 10 minutes. The Jyo Namachirashi included fresh and delicious toppings such as tuna, sea urchin, salmon roe, surf clam, crab, shrimp, scallop, salmon, flounder, yellowtail, flying fish roe, and egg. Each topping was very fresh and tasty. The rice was soft and the vinegar was not too strong. The sea urchin was particularly delicious with a refreshing sweetness and no fishy taste. The salmon was also very fatty and melted in the mouth. The Jyo Namasu included toppings like scallop, tuna, surf clam, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, crab, sea urchin, salmon roe, and egg. The rice portions seemed a bit large compared to the toppings. The wasabi was on the stronger side, so be cautious if you're not a fan. The sea urchin was really delicious. We also had miso soup with tofu, seaweed, gluten, and green onions. The silky tofu in the soup was a nice touch. They didn't accept card payments, but that was fine with us as it's better than getting a discount with a card. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

I went to a revolving sushi restaurant with high expectations for the best cost performance, but it was just okay. The oyster tempura was quite delicious. The sushi was decent, with the geoduck clam being the most tasty. Overall, it left a similar impression to other average sushi restaurants. I didn't feel the craftsmanship of the chef much, so I would rate it as mediocre.

Marukin Sushi (Kushiro, Hokkaido) I visited a sushi restaurant that was a hot topic among my acquaintances in Kushiro. It is located in a residential area, not in the city center, and it is quite difficult to make a reservation on weekends. I had high expectations, but the results were a bit disappointing... - Special nigiri Each piece of sushi was decent. Particularly, the sea urchin and botan shrimp were good. However, the rice was not good. It was quite soft, and the vinegar seasoning was too weak. Also, the rice was too big. Honestly, it was a disappointing outcome... - Otoshi Kushiro's tsubu (whelk) is indeed delicious. Well, it's just an appetizer... Marukin Sushi 11-17 Wakatake-cho, Kushiro, Hokkaido 0154-24-2759

I made a reservation the day before at the highly rated "Marukin Sushi" to try some non-rotating sushi for a change. The restaurant is located away from the drinking district, in a residential area. We ordered the Special (2300 yen) for 4 people, the Premium (1900 yen) for 2 people, and also ordered separately 2 pieces of mackerel, 5 pieces of salmon, and 3 pieces of flying fish. The ingredients were all fresh, with the salmon having a rich amount of fat. The sea urchin was different from others, with a deep and sweet taste, incredibly delicious. Personally, I thought the vinegar in the sushi rice could have been a bit stronger. Thank you for the meal!

Kushiro has fresh ingredients, but there are few places where you can enjoy them deliciously. This is a precious restaurant where you can enjoy delicious sushi. It's nice to sit at the counter and nibble on various dishes. The sweet shrimp is so delicious, a true delicacy. The uni and ikura are also served in small portions, a luxurious treat! The nigiri, such as the shrimp, was delicious. I would definitely like to visit again.

When I visited Kushiro, I wanted to reserve a seat at the counter, but there were only 6 seats available and I was told I would have to sit in a raised area. I was hesitant because it would be difficult to order at the counter, but then a customer at the counter finished their meal and I was able to sit there. I really wanted to enjoy freshly made sushi at the counter. The local specialties in Kushiro include hokke, matsukawa, mackerel, and salmon roe. It seems that saury, conger eel, and ark shell are sourced from Tsukiji Market. There are items that come with seasoning and items that you dip in soy sauce. The salmon roe is salted by fishermen on boats, so it doesn't have a strong fishy smell. Even so, the slight fishy smell is mitigated by grated daikon radish. These little tricks are delightful. The high-quality scallops are still alive, so they have a different sweetness and are best enjoyed with salt. The mackerel in Kushiro is juicy and melts in your mouth. They are bite-sized and you can keep eating one after another. When I paid the bill after eating to my heart's content, I was even more surprised by how affordable it was. It's almost on par with Gyoza no Ohsho, even though I didn't drink alcohol. Oh, how I wish there was a place like this near my home. The restaurant is located away from the city center and was bustling with local regulars. The chef and the hostess were friendly, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I will definitely visit again when I have the chance to go to Kushiro! Since I visited on a day before their regular holiday, they mentioned that there were fewer options available, so I am looking forward to even more on my next visit.

In a residential area in Kushiro, there is a typical town sushi restaurant... but... they manage to do things properly within the price range. It's a down-to-earth place with decent vinegared rice and quality toppings. They put effort into their sushi, the service is friendly, and it's always a fun time. The shellfish was particularly good this time. The vinegar in the rice seems to be on the milder side overall. Still, the mackerel and gizzard shad were just right, and they are well-prepared compared to other places in Hokkaido. The salmon roe and tamagoyaki are carefully homemade. The interesting part was the shark fin, which was tender and blended well with the rice. The miso soup was decent, and the teacups had a stylish touch typical of a sushi restaurant. If this place was nearby, I would definitely be a regular customer (laughs). Thank you for the meal. I hope to visit again. (Note: This review is from 2 years ago, and the special nigiri set with salmon roe, mackerel, gizzard shad, shark fin, and one tuna roll cost 3570 yen, including the premium nigiri at 2200 yen). I don't want it to get too crowded, but I've already written about it...

I went to Kushiro and wanted to enjoy delicious seafood, so I researched a few hotels and ended up choosing this one! (I wanted to go to all of them though.) It's located in a residential area, with parking for about three cars. When I sat at the counter and looked at the menu, I was surprised to see that the premium sushi set was only 2200 yen! The server explained the first few pieces, but then stopped... The fish was delicious, but I regret not knowing what some of them were like medium fatty tuna? Otoro? Is the salmon local? The sea urchin, salmon roe, button shrimp, and clams were all delicious! Miso soup was included too. The sea urchin tempura was also delicious. The conger eel was really good too. I recommend asking about the prices for your preferences. They also provide pickled ginger, tea, and other extras, so it was very reassuring. I want to go back again. Thank you for the meal!

There is a counter and a tatami room, and the interior of the restaurant is bright and clean. The menu has a variety of options, but I decided to order the premium fresh sushi. The price is very reasonable at 2200 yen, and the fish is all fresh and sweet. The sweetness of the shellfish in particular was outstanding. The sushi rice also has a good balance of acidity and sweetness, and is delicious. The sushi pieces are small but the perfect size to enjoy the flavors of the fresh fish, and the rice is just firm enough to be easy to eat. I tried scallop, medium fatty tuna, salmon (completely different from what I usually eat, it melts in your mouth), amberjack, spot prawn, surf clam, snow crab, salmon roe, sea urchin, and gizzard shad, and they were all delicious. The medium fatty tuna and salmon melt in your mouth, and each piece has a richness of flavor that sets it apart from ordinary sushi. The salmon roe was a bit too salty for my taste. The tamagoyaki (sweet omelette) that came with the sushi was perfectly cooked by a professional, juicy and without any eggy smell. I also requested a gizzard shad sushi, which had a great taste with the added flavor of sudachi citrus. I'm not sure if it was a service, but a shrimp miso soup was served. It had a gentle flavor with a hint of dashi, easy to drink and much appreciated during the cold season in Kushiro. I would love to visit this restaurant again. It was delicious. On a second visit, it was delicious as expected. And it's cheap. The highlight this time was the marinated mackerel. I've never had such a melt-in-your-mouth mackerel before. The mackerel I've had before was a fake, haha. It was a very satisfying dinner.

We used it on our trip to Hokkaido. It was the opposite of the bustling city, and when we arrived, we were the only tourists, just my husband and me. The customer next to us at the counter was with a companion. It seemed to be loved by the locals, so our expectations were high even before we ate. First, we had about four seasonal sashimi dishes. The saury and squid were very fresh and had a taste that we couldn't experience elsewhere. (Fresher than eating at the local market?) Next, we had the chef's choice of sushi, and every piece was fresh and extremely delicious. Since it was a season with fewer types of fish, we would love to visit again in a different season if we have the chance.

This time, I went to a restaurant in Kushiro that I really wanted to visit during my trip. Marukin Sushi! It has a nice atmosphere just like a regular sushi restaurant! There were two sushi chefs, the head chef and his son. The sushi case was filled with delicious fish from Kushiro. We had a chef's choice selection of sashimi and sushi. This place is seriously delicious! You can tell they are very particular about their ingredients. If there is one in your local area, it's a must-visit restaurant! I will definitely go there whenever I'm in Kushiro. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Tucked away in a quiet alley, this sushi restaurant in Kushiro is a hidden gem that regular tourists might not easily find. It offers truly delicious sushi that will satisfy anyone who knows good sushi. My friends Momoko and Atsumi always dine here for special occasions. When I was pregnant and couldn't go out in the winter, I would order their sushi platter. Whether I bring visiting friends or my parents, everyone raves about the food. I tried shrimp for the first time here and it was delicious. I used to dislike sea urchin, but after trying it here, I now love it. Atsumi's favorite is the salmon and salmon roe here, while Momoko loves the crab and salmon. Since it's mostly frequented by regulars, it's polite to call ahead. Parking is limited, so taking a taxi is recommended.

I visited this restaurant on a business trip at the end of last year. Even after 5 months, I still occasionally remember it, so I decided to write about it. It was located in a normal residential area with an unassuming exterior and a simple interior. The friendly owner was behind the counter. I tried various dishes, but the salmon was particularly delicious. It was sweet and melted in my mouth, definitely the best I've had in my 30+ years of life. The place was not very convenient or noticeable, so most of the customers seemed to be locals. I heard that in Hokkaido, it is common to eat sushi on New Year's Eve, and the neighbors were ordering one after another. I ended up going two days in a row. On the second day, a fisherman sat next to me and brought in a halibut he caught as a bycatch. The owner asked if I wanted to try the halibut's fin, and I immediately ordered it. That taste was also unforgettable. I really want to go back to Kushiro...

The appearance and interior of this sushi restaurant are quite ordinary, lacking any sense of luxury. However, the chef is friendly and the quality of the fish is excellent. You can enjoy a satisfying meal of delicious sushi for almost half the price you would pay in Tokyo. If I have the chance to visit Kushiro again, I would definitely revisit this restaurant.

When it comes to sushi, Marugane is the best. That's how it was at my parents' house. It's not a fancy place like those in Sakae, but my parents always say that the sushi here is the best! So, I think it's been ingrained in me since I was a child. The sushi is fresh and the portions are amazing. The most vivid memory from my childhood is when a huge pile of turban shell sashimi was served in the shell. It was so delicious... I wonder why it's so good. I want another one. Let's go back when we get home. Let's do that.

Sushi that doesn't go around. Not fishy at all! It's delicious. The sushi is said to be good because the head chef behind the counter makes it, so there is a scramble for it. It's a special treat.

I stopped by for lunch. I had a set of sushi, and the toppings were very good, especially the sea urchin was delicious. I also had a few other pieces of sushi, and the total bill was under 5000 yen, so I think it's a reasonably priced and delicious restaurant.
