This summer in Hakodate was unusually hot, and the restaurant was not very cool on this day. The Sapporo Classic here is always served in a frozen glass, so you can enjoy a nice cold drink. The abalone I ordered that day was very small, about 1/3 the size of what I had eaten before, so I was quite disappointed. However, the live squid was a decent size and enjoyable. I hope the next time I order abalone, it will be better.

I ordered the Fried Potato with Salt from Kibukawa Shi Sakari. In addition, I also tried the Octopus Kimchi, which was delicious. The atmosphere was lively, and the menu was extensive. It's a great restaurant in the Goryokaku area. There are still many more places to explore in Goryokaku! I had to rush because I had another restaurant to visit, but I would like to take my time and explore more next time.

When I visited Hakodate, Hokkaido, I was looking forward to trying the famous Hakodate specialty, live squid. While jokingly thinking in my head that I couldn't leave Hakodate without trying squid, I went to the restaurant with my coworkers and of course, my sister from Sapporo. We ordered: Live squid sashimi for 1,100 yen per cup, live scallop sashimi for 770 yen, fresh striped jack sashimi for 660 yen, boiled octopus sashimi for 550 yen, grilled shrimp for 660 yen, steamed flower squid shumai for 550 yen, pork skewers for 363 yen, and onigiri for 198 yen. The cost performance was amazing, right? All the sashimi was fresh and delicious, as expected in a seaside town like Hakodate. The live squid was especially delicious, with the grilled tentacles seasoned perfectly to go with alcohol. The shrimp had a satisfying texture, and the shumai was also deliciously firm. And not just seafood, but the pork skewers were also excellent. And ending the meal with onigiri was a nice touch. I didn't want to leave, everything was so delicious. A fantastic izakaya experience! On the second day of my business trip to Hakodate, we went to Kibarashi recommended by a colleague's friend. Three of us visited with clients at 7:00 PM. We made a reservation 15 minutes in advance without any issues. The izakaya had a variety of sashimi, fried dishes, stir-fried dishes, and more, with seafood of exceptional freshness and taste that you don't often find in Tokyo, and at a reasonable price. When dining in an unfamiliar place, it's easy to feel lost about where to eat, but I realized that it's a good idea to choose a local spot where locals go, where you can enjoy a meal without worrying too much. After enjoying the night view of Mount Hakodate, we had dinner at a izakaya near Goryokaku. It seems to be a place where locals gather, away from the hustle and bustle. At this restaurant, they offered seasonal dishes like fresh squid sashimi for 1,600 yen, tuna sashimi from Tsugaru Strait for 880 yen, and a rare cut of tuna sashimi called "otoro" for 550 yen. We also enjoyed other dishes like octopus and thread-sail filefish sashimi. It was a fantastic dinner experience at Goryokaku.

Popular restaurant in Honmachi. Kibarashi-san. It was the third round, so I forgot to take pictures. I vaguely remember having fun, but that's about it. I think the prices were cheap, but I don't remember. It was a good distraction. Thank you for the meal.

It's a popular izakaya. The inside is surprisingly spacious with private rooms, group seating, and a counter. The menu is extensive and the prices per dish are low. It's recommended for those who just want to drink beer and alcohol. Even if you order 3 appetizers, it's just over 1000 yen. The quality is average for the price. The kimchi at the beginning was good, as well as the stir-fried vegetables and miso dengaku. It might be a good choice when you just want to have a drink.

I was recommended to visit this restaurant by a friend who often travels to Hakodate. I went alone and found that the spacious counter allowed me to relax comfortably. I ordered the fresh squid that I couldn't try yesterday, and toasted with Hokkaido purple shiso shochu called "tantakachan" today. I couldn't help but notice the squid being grilled right in front of me, so I also ordered grilled squid. The texture and sweetness of the squid were incredibly delicious. And the soy sauce they used was amazing! I found out it was kombu soy sauce, which is commonly used here. It went so well with the alcohol! Trying to eat the squid guts was a bit of a challenge for me. It was also delicious. I wanted to drink a little more, so I ordered vinegar with oysters. Today's meal was a seafood feast. Looking back, I realized I had only eaten breakfast and had ice cream and dumplings, so I ate and drank a lot. The bill came out to be around 3000 yen. It was a wonderful restaurant experience.

I was a bit curious so I visited with a colleague. We ordered a few sashimi dishes we wanted to try, but each dish was served on a separate plate. The table got a bit crowded. The fried chicken seemed overcooked, the tamagoyaki was oddly sweet and burnt-smelling, and the hokke was dry and overly salty. They had a good selection of sake, and we tried a few. Overall, it was just average. Well, we got drunk cheaply. Thank you for the meal!

The ventilation is poor, the staff is inattentive, and when trying to order, no one comes over. There was no apology for the wait. I ended up leaving after just ordering a beer and appetizer (edamame) - which was also surprisingly expensive. Other customers were leaving as well. The menu was sticky and unclean, so be prepared. The food may be cheap and tasty, but the atmosphere was not welcoming.

And the cost-performance ratio is high. I tried comparing curry and a whole flounder sashimi for the first time. It's a popular restaurant that only locals visit!

Great value for money! A traditional, well-known restaurant from the old days!
