This was my first time visiting during happy hour. I had a draft beer with dried fruits, which was perfect as an aperitif. The relaxed atmosphere allows for a great way to unwind. I was only able to visit once during the Christmas season, which required a reservation, but towards the end of the season it was okay to walk in without one. I will definitely be back next season.

The couple next to us ordered a bottle of Burgundy wine, and they were served Burgundy-shaped wine glasses. The Bordeaux glasses were also top-notch. We had smoked oysters and carbonara with homemade bacon. The homemade smoked oysters had a rich flavor, just like the homemade beef jerky we had last time. The house white wine was a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile, which I've never tried before and had a strong aroma. They do charge a corkage fee, but you can bring your own wine if you prefer. I'll bring my own wine when I visit next year. They have displayed empty bottles from famous brands, so it's a good idea. Thank you for the meal.

As usual, I'm only considering the cost of food. I don't remember the exact price of the glass of wine, but it was around that range. I had my meal at a thick wooden counter. They served homemade dishes. - Beef jerky: The perfect seasoning and tenderness make it delicious. - Bacon steak: The crispy texture is amazing. - Sausage: Blurry photo, but it was also delicious! I also enjoyed the duck salad and pasta (Amatriciana). For dessert, I had Catanana, which is torched before serving. The whiskey selection is impressive, especially the ones from Kushiro. I tried the most recently released one, which had a floral aroma. It cost around 2200 yen for a shot. Even the ice was stylish. There was only one type of red and white wine by the glass, but the bottled wine selection was carefully chosen. The background music was from a CD played through a handmade vacuum tube amp and Tannoy speakers. It was a charming place with a captivating atmosphere.

I also visited another bar in Rusutsu at night called "Rodeo Drive". It's a small place that might be easy to overlook, but the bar visible from the outside gives a sense of security. I made a reservation before going. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats. It's small and feels like a hidden adult retreat. When I went, it was quiet with a foreign couple having dinner, but it might get a bit livelier during bar time. I prefer the quiet though. First, I toasted with a Sapporo beer! I heard that they are good at smoked dishes, so I tried the smoked salmon carpaccio. It was large, thick, and had no fishy smell. I was very satisfied. We also ordered a meat platter. I felt like having a cocktail, so I got a Cuba Libre. It was made with rum, cola, and lime, with a square ice cube that clinked when it was poured in, a truly bar-like cocktail. I felt so cheerful ❤️ For dinner, we had chicken steak and carbonara. Despite being a bar, the dishes were like authentic Italian cuisine. The smoked bacon was delicious. We each had two drinks and the total bill was around 7,300 yen. It's not super cheap, so I think it's better to avoid visiting with an izakaya mindset.

The warm atmosphere, delicious food, and drinks helped me forget about the cold weather. A trendy and cozy bar in Ryusuto! I will definitely visit again! <3

An izakaya near Rusutsu Resort. The owner seems to love Hokkaido and ended up living here for over 10 years after missing the chance to return to America. They sometimes go to a nearby elementary school to teach English, making it a kid-friendly place. They entertained my niece by folding origami and performing magic tricks. Most of the customers are from overseas, giving the place an exotic atmosphere.

I went on a ski tour to Rusutsu Resort in Hokkaido with four friends and had dinner. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and we were able to relax. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, much better value compared to the hotel restaurants. I would definitely like to visit again!

When going to Rusutsu for skiing, I always make sure to visit this restaurant. I went with 5 friends, and the place was already full of Australians, with us being the only Japanese. It's recommended to make a reservation in advance. We ordered smoked salmon carpaccio, ham and cheese salad, potato gratin, smoked spare ribs, and basil pizza with prosciutto and chips. The prices were around 800 yen for the carpaccio and pizza, and there weren't any items priced higher than that. Everything was really delicious, especially the smoked dishes which are handmade by the master. My favorite was the carpaccio. All my friends loved it too, so we always make sure to eat it when we visit. They have a variety of drinks like beer, cocktails, shochu, and sake. The atmosphere is perfect for leisurely enjoying food and drinks, so it may not be suitable for young children.
