黒毛和牛太
This is an izakaya located in front of Ohana Chaya Station! It seems that it used to be a completely Asian izakaya, but now it looks like they are gradually shifting towards becoming a more traditional izakaya. When I entered the restaurant, I noticed the owner, who had a Southeast Asian appearance, but apparently, he is Japanese, as it was written on his name tag, haha. While looking at the menu and asking questions, the topic of the restaurant's changes came up. It seems that the Asian menu is still kept for the previous customers. They no longer serve lunch, but on weekends, they open for lunch, which serves as a substitute.
I ordered a set of three satays from the Asian menu, but I found out there were only two left. I was about to give up, but then I noticed that the yakitori on the izakaya menu was also two pieces. I jokingly asked if they could swap the yakitori for the satay, and although the sudden request surprised the staff, they gladly accepted since it was near closing time. Encouraged by their willingness, I decided to place an additional order.
After waiting for the food to be prepared and bringing it home for the tasting, here’s how it turned out…
**[Three Types of Appetizer Platter]**
The original items included two pieces of chicken thigh yakitori, chicken wings, and a boiled egg, but I had the yakitori swapped for satay. The satay was delicious! It was spicy and had a different flavor compared to Japanese yakitori. The chicken wings and boiled egg were also good and the addition of bean sprouts felt like a nice bonus.
**[Stir-Fried Pork Offal]**
The offal had a good crunch while still being easy to eat, and instead of just filling it up with bean sprouts, they used a generous amount of offal, which I appreciated. The seasoning was nice and bold.
**[Satay Roll]**
Since I had just eaten satay on a skewer, it didn’t leave a strong impression this time. Sure, it had volume, but the peanut sauce didn’t really stand out for me.
Despite speaking fluent Japanese, the store owner has a striking appearance that makes him look almost foreign. I think I’ll come back next time to try their laksa ramen! By the way, they accept PayPay as payment.
