I went to have breakfast at the morning market. Since I was in an unfamiliar place and saw a flyer at the hotel, I decided to stop by while taking a walk. There was a shop on the other side, and an older man explained various things to me. So, I went into the restaurant thinking I would have a nice bowl, but in the end, I decided on set meals for breakfast. I had a cod fish marinated in miso sauce set meal and a set meal with belly and hokke fish. It was quite luxurious to have beer in the morning, how grateful. It's a day off. I was drinking beer with scallop butter as a snack when it arrived. Wow, it's amazing. The size is surprising! The taste is also surprising! There's no way it wouldn't be delicious. Thank you for the happy time.

It's been a while since I went to Hakodate Morning Market! Having a fun breakfast with everyone in the morning is delicious! We enjoyed grilled oysters, assorted sashimi, snow crab legs, uni-topped fresh oysters, herring sashimi, a 1.3kg live crab boiled on the spot, grilled Atka mackerel, grilled fatty herring, abalone, and crab miso soup. In the end, it turned into a big feast!! Thank you for the delicious meal!

5th stop on my Hokkaido food journey! Breakfast in Hakodate!! Went to the market, ate sea urchin, and felt so happy. Enjoyed a squid fishing event where I caught squid myself! They even prepared the squid I caught for me at the restaurant. There were endless squid flowing in the restaurant, and I couldn't stop thinking about it for a while. Overall: Loved it!!!

I went to this hotel because I heard you could change the breakfast to a seafood bowl. I chose the 3-color bowl where you can pick 3 ingredients, so I chose scallops, salmon, and salmon roe. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed. The ingredients were minimal and the quality was not great. I wonder if they were just thawed from frozen... It felt like a place for tourists, and honestly, I don't think I would spend money to come back again.

Passing by a seafood restaurant at the Hakodate Morning Market. It seems to be popular among celebrities as there are many autographs displayed. The restaurant is moderately busy during lunchtime. I ordered the seafood trio bowl and it was as delicious as I had expected. It makes me want to come back to Hakodate again.

On the second day of our trip to Hakodate, we visited Goryokaku in the morning, the final resting place of Toshizo Hijikata. We also saw the Aoi Blood Monument and the former residence of Takuboku Ishikawa, all with the help of a sightseeing taxi. Next, we visited Hakodate Market, located next to JR Hakodate Station. With so many dining options, we were worried about finding a good place to eat. Luckily, we had a 2000 yen voucher for Omiyage Sakae-ya as a special benefit from HIS, so we went on a hunt for the store in the maze-like market and found it. We had a pleasant conversation with the friendly staff and purchased some souvenirs. Across from Omiyage Sakae-ya, we stumbled upon Sakae-ya Yosakoi Shokudo, a sister restaurant. We decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious and affordable seafood dishes we ordered. We had scallops, king crab, squid rice (forgot to take a photo), sea urchin, and snow crab, all for a total of 10,022 yen. We left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. After that, we visited the former British Consulate in Hakodate, the impressive former Hakodate Ward Public Hall, and the former Soma Residence donated by Mr. Soma. We used a tour bus to explore these sites.

On a regular weekend, I went on a quick trip to Hokkaido! I went to the morning market for a slightly late breakfast. I had a 2000 yen coupon for this shop that came with my travel ticket, so I decided to eat here. The bowl was a bit small, and the price was a bit high, but I didn't want to be stingy on my trip, so it's okay! It's a shame that squid fishing wasn't successful due to poor catches.

I tried the famous squid fishing at the storefront and had some sashimi and a 5-kind rice bowl with the squid I caught. Squid fishing was easy as you just hook the needle onto the squid's ear and pull it up. The squid I had was transparent and chewy. When dipped in soy sauce mixed with squid innards and ginger, it was absolutely delicious! There was no fishy smell, just a rich flavor. The 5-kind rice bowl included sea urchin, salmon roe, crab, scallop, and sweet shrimp. The portion of rice was generous. The squid-flavored sprinkles on the table were also tasty. I couldn't resist buying them as a souvenir (500 yen).

I went to a restaurant with my hotel breakfast voucher. I think the train leaves for Sapporo at 7:40 am? It came with fresh squid sashimi. So delicious! ✨

The cut melon (200 yen) in front of the store is so sweet and juicy, it's delicious. The fishermen by the sea are really cool, aren't they?

The breakfast at Hotel Riso was a seafood bowl, which was included as part of a tour or service. It was decently tasty.

The food was fresh and delicious. The squid rice dish was especially flavorful and tasty. However, it was a bit pricey as it had tourist prices, and we ended up spending over 10,000 yen for four people.

In the morning before returning to Kyoto, I visited the rainy Hakodate Morning Market. I bought sea urchin and salmon roe as souvenirs. I also bought Matsumae pickles. The shop owner told me, "You look sexy." I felt like it was just because of my mini skirt and fishnet tights. Then I got hungry and went to another shop. I ordered a bowl with plenty of scallops and squid, which I love. Both were sweet and had a great texture, so I am very satisfied. Ah, I'm glad I came here.

On Wednesday at 8:30 am, I received a breakfast voucher at the hotel, so I went to this restaurant. First, I went shopping at the adjacent souvenir shop. It was quite lively, with friendly older men and young men who were good at talking and making jokes to sell their products. Around 9 am, I went to the neighboring restaurant. There was only one group of customers. When I mentioned the voucher I received from the hotel, they brought out a different menu from the regular one. It was not as impressive as the original menu, but considering it was a hotel breakfast (priced at 1000-1500 yen), it wasn't too bad.

After eating the Tsubodon at Kikuyo Shokudo, I went to Ekini Market to try squid fishing, but surprisingly it was already over by around 7:30. I wish they had prepared more squid! So, while wandering around the market and trying different foods, I ended up here. This place is located at the edge of the morning market, and it seems like they also offer squid fishing here. I had given up on squid fishing, but I didn't know it was available here, so that was nice. My daughter tried squid fishing, and although it was a bit of a struggle, she had fun. The squid we caught was prepared by the shop and we were able to eat it right away. The cooking fee was included in the squid fishing experience. We waited a bit at a table inside the shop, and then a plate of transparent squid sashimi arrived. It was spear squid, with a nice crunchy texture and good mouthfeel. It was delicious and lived up to expectations. While not necessarily cheap if you only consider the sashimi, I think the experience of fishing makes it worthwhile. (It's definitely cheaper than eating in Tokyo, though, haha!)
