This was my first time visiting during the daytime. I don't usually drink during the day, so it was a refreshing experience. I had draft beer and lemon sour to quench my thirst. The three dishes that came as a set were all delicious and perfect for snacking. I ended up staying longer than I planned. Thank you for the meal.

Located at the entrance of the food and drink street of Nijo Market, facing the Sojo-dori street, this open-air restaurant is a one-person operation where you fill out your order on a menu sheet. They offer an early bird special that is very affordable, with 2 drinks and 3 appetizers for 1000 yen (excluding tax). The beer and appetizers are delicious. It's also convenient that they are open on Sundays.

My wife and I crossed the Sozo River to meet up and have a light drink at this restaurant. My wife mentioned that she had come here for a solo drink before. The service from the waiter was very polite. Thank you. The oyster mapo tofu was delicious, and the various smoked dishes paired perfectly with the drinks. We had a great time. The bill was surprisingly reasonable. We will definitely visit again.

I finally got to visit the restaurant I've been curious about! I ordered the early bird special for 1100 yen, which included two drinks, Man'yō red pepper, edamame & peanuts, and skewered konjac. I also added skewers with daikon and tofu. They were surprisingly large! I also ordered the spicy wonton. The famous skewered konjac looked rich, but it was actually quite light and delicious. The flavors were amazing! The spicy wonton wasn't very spicy, but it was still delicious because I was craving something spicy. The owner was also very nice.

Before meeting up with friends for drinks, I used a special early bird discount to order beer. The konjac was delicious! I quickly finished my drink in 30 minutes, but I'd like to go back and enjoy a leisurely drink next time.

On this early day, I decided to go out for drinks in the afternoon since I had the morning off! There were only two other customers in the long and narrow interior of the cozy restaurant, making it feel almost like a private space. I ordered the "Early Bird" special for 1100 yen, which included two drinks and three assorted appetizers: bamboo shoot stew, boiled peanuts, and edamame that seemed to be smoked, as well as marinated herring roe. I also had beer and tomato sour. The surprise was the bamboo shoot skewers with miso from Nagoya, which were very flavorful and addictive. I also ordered daikon and egg from the oden menu, which were delicious! Sitting by the window, I enjoyed the snowy scene outside (even though it was the end of March!). It's a great place to relax and enjoy good food. Everything was so tasty - thank you for the meal!

Near Nijo Market, I couldn't find any open restaurants in the 4 o'clock hour, so I decided to try this one. A couple leaving before me said, "Ah, that was delicious," so I trusted their recommendation and went in. Long story short, it was amazing. The smoked dishes were outstanding - smoked tuna, oysters, chicken wings, all incredibly flavorful. This experience got me hooked on smoked foods. The stewed pork belly was also delicious, I even had seconds. Every other dish we tried was a hit too. And to top it off, the hand-cut soba noodles we had to finish were deliciously smooth. I definitely want to come back to this restaurant.

I visited Kintoto-san, which I had been curious about for a while. It was a second party, so I didn't think I would eat much, but I ended up eating quite a bit. I ordered Ume Suisho for 380 yen, Kintoto Yakisoba (spicy) for 880 yen, Hokkaido salted salmon for 350 yen, homemade pickled mackerel for 530 yen. I enjoyed them with beer and lemon sour. The smoked peanuts served as an appetizer were delicious. The goldfish on the wall and the daruma dolls facing in various directions are cute. I like the cozy and laid-back atmosphere. I will definitely go again. Thank you for the meal.

On a certain holiday, I remembered a restaurant I had never visited before, so I stumbled into a izakaya located at the entrance of a certain alley in Nijo Market for lunch. The interior of the restaurant was long and narrow, with table seating near the entrance and a counter at the back. It seemed like a fun place to visit at night in a different world. Although I was tempted by the shaved ice on the menu, this time I decided to try the "Mori Soba (700 yen)". The water in the glass was large and cold, very delicious. After a while, my order arrived. It looked quite authentic. I took a bite... Hmm, the soba noodles were gray, flat-cut, with a firm texture and a good flavor. The dipping sauce was a bit salty on its own, but when dipped with the soba noodles, it became just right, leaving a lingering taste of fish and dashi broth. Towards the end, I enjoyed adding the condiments of Myoga, green onions, and wasabi. Oh, and they even brought me soba-yu at the end. Suddenly, I found myself quietly enjoying soba noodles alone in Nijo Market on a holiday afternoon... What a blissful moment. To the owner, I hope you can overcome the difficult days ahead. Thank you for the meal.

On a Sunday, I wandered around the city and ended up on Tanukikoji Street. In the evening, I headed east looking for a place to have a drink. I stumbled upon Kin to To, a place I haven't visited in a while. They open at 3 pm, which is great for someone like me who prefers early drinking. The owner mentioned that there are people who want to drink during the day, and I agreed. Kin to To has become known for daytime drinking in the area. Their menu offers a variety of dishes, including game meat and seasonal ingredients. I opted for the Early Drinking Set for 1,100 yen, which included two drinks and three dishes. The smoked boiled peanuts and edamame, grilled eggplant, and miso-marinated dish were all delicious. I also ordered the fried smelt for 550 yen, which was crispy and flavorful. I paired it with a glass of Kiritan from Akita. The steamed egg custard with scallops, mushrooms, and lily bulbs was also excellent. The total bill came to 3,300 yen. As I left, I asked the owner how long they had been open, and they said only three years. I hope they continue to thrive in their business for years to come. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I had high expectations for the elaborate appetizers, but I was a bit disappointed. The lineup of appetizers is perfect for those who love Japanese sake and alcohol. The appetizers with an extra touch were nice. However, I was disheartened by the yakisoba that I ordered but wasn't available, and instead, I was served something unclear with a strange excuse. The fact that smoking is allowed meant that the smell of cigarettes lingered in my nose for three days. This place might be enjoyable for some people, but it didn't quite meet my expectations.

I was looking for a place to have a light drink in the evening and ended up at Nijo Market. I found a cozy place that seemed welcoming for solo customers and decided to go in. I ordered a beer and they brought out some smoked peanuts as a snack. The peanuts had a smoky flavor which paired well with the beer. I also ordered some tuna sashimi, fresh oysters, and instead of monkfish liver, I went with firefly squid. The fresh oysters had a lingering taste of the sea and went down smoothly. The tuna sashimi had a rich, fatty flavor that was delicious despite the presence of some sinew. After enjoying about three beers and the delicious food, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied.

"Although the self-restraint period has ended, the situation still requires caution... On this holiday, I wandered around Tanuki Koji hoping to find a place where I could relax and have a drink. I couldn't find any lunchtime spots up to 1st Avenue, but when I went to Nijo Market, I found a place that was open! It was just past 1:00 PM, so there was no crowd and no worry about the three Cs, so I entered right away. I started with the great early bird deal of 1,000 yen (excluding tax), which includes 2 drinks and 3 assorted appetizers. I started with a highball as usual, which was nice and fizzy. The appetizers included oden with konjac, edamame, boiled peanuts, and mozuku vinegar. The miso in the oden was rich and delicious. The boiled peanuts were also tasty. Since I had already eaten lunch, I didn't order any additional dishes, but I did order a second highball and enjoyed a slightly tipsy feeling. I was very satisfied with the leisurely daytime drinking experience after a long time! I would like to go back for a more relaxed drinking session once the situation with the coronavirus settles down. Thank you for the meal!"

◆Sapporo Kintoto "Early Bird Discount"◆ While walking towards Sapporo Station from Nijyo Ichiba, I came across a sign that said "Early Bird Discount" OPEN~18:00 ¥1,000 (excluding tax) for 2 drinks and 3 assorted snacks at Kintoto. This place is located along the Sosei River near Nijyo Ichiba. There are counter seats and table seats, but I chose a table seat closer to the outside for better ventilation. I enjoyed a Sapporo Classic beer with 3 assorted snacks including smoked edamame, which paired well with the drink. It's not exactly a "cheap drinking" deal, but considering you get 2 drinks and the total comes to ¥1,100 including tax, I think it's a good value set. It may be difficult for many to make it by 18:00, but as a starter, I think it's great.

"Kintoto-san" joined the pre-party 0th round before the year-end party, after hearing that their friends had already gone ahead! They started with the "Early Bird" set from 15:00 to 18:00, which was a great deal. It included 2 drinks and 3 assorted appetizers for 1,000 yen. Cheers with a highball served in a glass jar. It was a bit light, but the carbonation was refreshing. The lineup chosen by the friends was quite nice: - "Tuna brain sashimi @700 yen" - "Red snapper kombu-shime sashimi @700 yen" - "Homemade beef thigh corned beef @480 yen" The dishes were made with quality ingredients and had a touch of sophistication. The tuna had a good fatty texture that melted in the mouth. The red snapper with kombu-shime tasted even better with the plum sauce for the sake. The corned beef had just the right amount of saltiness, perfect for pairing with the highball. After leisurely savoring the highball set, it was time to head to the year-end party. There were many tempting items on the menu, and the "dote-ni" stew in front of them also caught their eye. They'll have to come back here again. Thanks for the delicious meal!

Sunday. As December approaches, work at the company gets busier. The image of the delicious dote-yaki I once ate comes to mind. I hesitated between going straight home or heading to the restaurant, but my feet took me to the restaurant. It's Sunday evening, so there are only about 6 customers. But this number feels cozy. At the counter, a woman in her 20s is drinking alone. There seem to be more women like her these days. First, a beer! The waitress kindly offered a set of 2 drinks and 3 snacks, but I politely declined. I ordered beef tendons, beef tongue, tofu, and ham cutlet. Let's see if they're tender. I had tried the food from this restaurant at an autumn festival before, and the tendons and tongue were surprisingly tough, not what you'd expect from dote-yaki. The sauce was delicious, but it was a shame. So, when I read a review of this restaurant recently that described the food as tender and melt-in-your-mouth, I couldn't help but be curious and came with high hopes. The beer was accompanied by roasted peanuts, lightly smoked and quite tasty. Now, the main event, the dote-yaki. First, the beef tendons... tough. Hmm... the same quality as at the autumn festival. The beef tongue... slightly better, but still not quite there. This is not the deliciousness of dote-yaki. Hmm, a disappointment... However, the tofu is very delicious, thanks to the tasty sauce. Hmm, too bad... And the ham cutlet is neither here nor there. It's thickly sliced, but I think it would be better thinner. One beer is not enough, so I thought about ordering a sake, but the price per unit is high. So, I had another beer and went to pay... but apparently, they can't provide a receipt for card payments. Is that even possible...? If they can't print it out, they could at least ask for an email address to send the receipt... Well, there's no point in dwelling on it, so I'll leave.

Sunday afternoon drinking on my first visit in November 2019. I'm wandering around, unsure of where to go. Maybe I should try something new at Sohseigawa East for a change. "Mokkiri" and "Heberake" are good, but a bit repetitive. How about trying a new place instead? I heard there's an early discount set at "Kintoto". It includes 2 drinks and 3 snacks. Starting with a beer, I ordered eggplant simmered in broth, smoked konjac with edamame and boiled peanuts. Oh, this is quite tasty. For the second drink, I had a cup of sake. I also added "Seared bonito with ponzu sauce" for a bit more. Maybe it was a bit early for it. I also tried "Radish and tofu simmered in broth" and "Salted squid" which were both delicious. It's been a while since I had a daytime drink on a holiday. The seafood menu looks good too, so I might come back again. Since it's a holiday afternoon drink, let's stop by another place.

Oh? Oh my? It's Friday at 12 o'clock, and I saw a familiar sign at the Kin Toto restaurant. After the customers left, I sat at the counter. In front of me was the shop owner, serving soy sauce ramen with egg topping. It's only available for a limited time. In about 10 minutes, the ramen arrived. The straight noodles were chewy and delicious. I really like this. The soup was also great, with a gentle and tasty soy sauce flavor. Of course, I finished every last bit. Thank you for the meal. I wonder if I can come back one more time before August 31st. The restaurant is open from 10:00 to 13:00.
