I visited "8TH SEA OYSTER Bar," located on the 7th floor of Solaria Plaza in Tenjin, Fukuoka City, around 1:30 PM on a Sunday with a friend. I wanted to enjoy some delicious oysters in the Tenjin area and found this place through Tabelog, which looked promising. The restaurant is bright, spacious, and open, with around 50 seats. The sofas are equipped with soft, large cushions, making it comfortable to relax. Upbeat female vocal pop songs filled the air as background music. I later learned that this restaurant is operated by General Oyster Co., Ltd., a publicly traded company.
I looked over the lunch menu and found the Oyster Pair Set for 6,028 yen (tax included) to be a good deal, as it includes fresh oysters, warm oysters, a salad, soup, and a choice of two main dishes. I chose today's oyster pasta and a gratin for the mains. The set includes:
- Seafood Platter
- Salad
- Oyster Soup
- Hot Oyster Plate (choice of two mains)
- Rich Uni and Bacon Carbonara
- Oyster, Bacon, and Okra Peperoncino
- Today's Oyster Pasta (Tomato Oyster Pasta)
- Oyster and Cheese Cream Gratin with two pieces of bread
- Oyster and Shellfish Risotto
Additionally, by following their Instagram and posting with a specific hashtag, we received a complimentary drink, so we ordered sparkling wine and yuzu sour to toast and enjoy. The sparkling wine was smooth and delicious, while the yuzu sour was sweet and refreshing.
The drink menu included:
- Sparkling wine
- Glass wine (red/white)
- Highball
- Lemon sour
- Grapefruit sour
- Plum sour
- Yuzu sour
Soft drinks:
- Coffee (hot or iced)
- Tea (hot or iced)
- Oolong tea
- Orange juice
- Grapefruit juice
First, the salad and oyster cup soup were brought to our table. The salad, made with lettuce, purple cabbage, and radish, was fresh and tasty, while the soup was warm and flavorful. Then, the seafood platter arrived, and it was quite impressive! It featured three types of fresh oysters along with mussels, shrimp, and crab, making it a generous serving:
- Okayama Prefecture - Mushiake Venus Oyster (raw)
- Hyogo Prefecture - Gaki Taisho Oyster (raw)
- Lemon sauce and salmon roe oysters (raw)
These carefully selected fresh oysters were creamy and delicious, and I happily enjoyed them with a squeeze of lemon. The name "8TH SEA OYSTER" refers to oysters cultivated in marine deep-sea water, which provides an ideal environment for growing oysters, differentiating them from oysters sourced from the world's seven major oceans.
Next came the Hot Oyster Plate, which was equally impressive. It included:
- Grilled oysters
- Garlic butter baked oysters with herb bread crumbs
- Fried oysters (served with tartar sauce)
The potato and oyster gratin that followed was served in a small dish filled with plenty of potatoes and cheese, along with rich oysters. It came with French bread. Finally, the tomato oyster pasta arrived; the pasta was al dente, and the rich tomato sauce paired well with the oysters, making it another delicious dish.
I left feeling completely satisfied after indulging in a feast of oysters. "8TH SEA OYSTER Bar" in Solaria Plaza, Fukuoka City, is bright, clean, and relaxing, offering a great selection of fresh and warm oyster dishes. I highly recommend it!
