I visited a souvenir shop on the 2nd floor of Asahikawa Airport in March 2022. It is located at the far end of the area where many souvenir shops are lined up. The specialty of this shop is the blue cheese and blue cheese cake from Etanbetsu. I was surprised that this information is not on Tabelog. The blue cheese from Etanbetsu is a blue cheese perfected by cheese artisan Shohei Ise from Etanbetsu, Asahikawa City, during his training in the Auvergne region of France. It is said to be used in the first class of JAL and ANA international flights. The blue cheese cake from Etanbetsu is a collaboration between this cheese and Chef Kanosuke Sajo of the restaurant chirai. The product is sold frozen. Ice packs and a cooler bag are available for an additional charge. ● Etanbetsu's blue cheese cake ¥2850 It should have a photo of the cut cake, but I couldn't find it. When cut, it is a small size that fits on a soy sauce dish. Should I call it a rare cheesecake? The soft cheese part is not as distinctive as I thought. The cookie part has a hint of cinnamon and black pepper. My friend also purchased it, and it seems to have been very well received by their family. I personally prefer the solid and dense NY cheesecake, so this one didn't quite suit my taste. I felt like it could have been a bit stronger in blue cheese flavor. The cinnamon scent in the cookie part was quite strong. If I have the chance, I would like to buy the blue cheese itself!

In Asahikawa city, this is the only place where you can find it... Azelia at Asahikawa Airport. I go all the way to Asahikawa Airport just for this♬︎ [Otaru Iro-nai Dori Fromage] ♬︎ My favorite baked confectionery from LeTAO♡ I love Langue de Chat type sweets, so I can't go without them for my usual snack (laughs). It will be appreciated as a souvenir too...♪*゚ I also bought some sweets that I have seen but never tried before♬︎ Since I wasn't in a hurry... I chose them while asking the kind staff about the taste of the sweets. I had time to spare, so they explained it to me in detail (laughs). Based on my memory and the feeling of eating, I added a little extra information. At this time of year... the world was busy, so there were few people and it was empty... In a way, it felt safe? (laughs) I leisurely visited and researched other stores (*^ω^*) I tried everything, but I still like Fromage the best...♪*゚ Thank you for the meal~( *ˊᵕˋ* )

At the renewal of Asahikawa Airport, several new shops have opened, including Azelia. Today, I bought some cheese from Furano Cheese Factory. While White and Wine Cheese are familiar, this time I tried Maison de Pierre. It is a white mold type cheese modeled after French Brie de Meaux. I have tried various Hokkaido Camembert cheeses before, but I still prefer the white mold type. When I tried it, the soft cheese was quite delicious. This one is really good.

This is one of the shops at Asahikawa Airport. Upon arrival, I checked to see if there were cakes from Le Tao, so I stopped by the shop on the departure floor and confirmed that they had them. However, I couldn't find any in the city, so I decided to stop by on my way back. As I walked around the floor, I found that our shop had Le Tao's classic Double Fromage for 1728 yen, as well as the seasonal limited edition Melon Double for 1728 yen. I decided to purchase them at our shop instead. When I got home, the cakes were still chilled and ready to eat. I immediately tried the Double Fromage, which had a comforting taste. The Melon Double also had a delicious melon flavor, making me feel happy.

"Azeria" was in Asahikawa celebrating my wife's birthday. We arrived at night and left early in the morning, so the inventory in Asahikawa did not increase. We received a coupon at the hotel, but it was a coupon unique to the hotel, so there were only a few stores where it could be used, and night stores were not included. My wife said, "There are stores at the airport where you can use it," so we went to Asahikawa Airport. Whenever we receive this kind of coupon, my wife always aims for beer. This time, too, she was targeting that, so when we arrived at the airport, she immediately started looking for a store selling beer. If I use the coupon at a different store, I have to pick it up myself, so I was choosing from a different store than my wife. When my wife said, "There's nothing to buy at this store," I was choosing, she called me over. She said, "Look, there's shochu made from Asahikawa sweet potatoes." I replied, "Oh, I remember hearing on the news that sweet potatoes can now be grown in Hokkaido and they've started making it." She said, "It's also a limited edition, and it can't be found in many stores. There are designated stores where it can be placed, and this store has it." I was impressed and went to see it. When I looked at the label, it said the production site was in Kagoshima City and they used sweet potatoes from Kagoshima. I thought to myself, 'What is she looking at?' It mentioned something about being sister cities with Kagoshima and some other details, but I found it too bothersome to read. My wife was going to buy it with her own coupon, so she didn't really need to call me over to show me this kind of rumor, but she called me over just to show me. She's still as scatterbrained as ever. She also bought a classic from Furano Vintage and managed to use up the coupons. The staff was very friendly. Beer, classic... My wife said, "It's different from regular classic," but I couldn't tell. It's definitely delicious, but maybe you need to do a taste comparison to understand. The live classic needs to be poured skillfully to taste good, so sometimes canned beer is tastier. In any case, it was delicious.

I haven't been to the airport recently. I used to fly on a plane every month. Suddenly, I had a strong craving for something. I really want to eat it. I thought, maybe I can find it at the airport!! So, I went. There are times when you suddenly have a strong craving for something, right? In the past, Asahikawa became an international airport and flights to Korea started. I took the first flight and went to visit my friend in Korea. I wonder when the Taiwan and Korea flights will resume. This time, my goal was here. Asahikawa Airport has become more beautiful, and the shops have moved a bit. I remember there used to be a pharmacy here, but it seems to have already closed down. I checked out the Azalea Asahikawa Airport shop, which has been around for a long time, but the item I was looking for was only available here. Otaru's Ratao. About 20 years ago, when I was in Tokyo, on my first trip to Hokkaido, I was asked to bring back Ratao. I had never heard of it. I wrote it down on a piece of paper and bought it at the main store in Otaru. The other day, I went to Otaru after a long time. But I didn't have time to go, and I didn't know where it was. Now, I can buy it in Asahikawa too. This is it, this is it. I don't usually buy sweets, but I remember this one. It's round with powdery stuff around it. I don't know what it is... but there is a similar one next to it. When I looked closely, it said "Maron Kabocha". What is this? It must be delicious when you eat it. It must be delicious, but I only need one. The big French cruller on the right, is it a cake? The one on the left is also called Fromage. It is said to be sandwiched with mascarpone. The one on the right is called Croissant Ring and uses black tea chocolate. Croissant here... this must be delicious too. This is amazing. Normal cakes usually have a shelf life of the same day. Well, when I buy it and take it home, I'll eat it the next day. But Ratao's products are frozen. This is amazing. That's why the shelf life is longer, and it's okay for souvenirs. It's not something you have to eat right away, but I thought about it. Double Fromage Ratao for 1,836 yen... it's expensive. Was it this expensive? But this time, I wanted to eat it so badly, so I bought this without hesitation. Now, let's eat... but actually, I'm satisfied with just one piece. I forgot... I couldn't eat it right away. Thaw for 5-8 hours in the refrigerator. Ah, I wanted to eat it now... Even though it can last until next year if it's frozen, once it's thawed, the shelf life is within 48 hours. I have no choice but to thaw it. Honestly, I don't need all of this. I wish there was a way to thaw only half of it or a quarter of it and freeze the rest again. If that were the case, I could thaw half or a quarter and freeze the rest again. I'll wait and read. Ah, I wanted to eat it now. But I can't eat it when it's frozen. Oh well, I'll have to wait 8 hours for it to thaw. In the meantime, let's read... It's done... 7 hours and 59 minutes left... I couldn't wait. I opened it after 4 hours, thinking it should be okay by now. Oh, it's nostalgic. This is it. It's been so long since I had this... about 10 years ago, maybe. It's hard... I managed to cut it with a knife. But it's still ice-like. But it's starting to soften. I remember thinking how delicious the two layers of cheese were when I had it before. I really wanted to eat this now. Oh... was it like this? It tastes like cheese. But... it's a bit different from what I imagined. I thought it was a bit more like rare cheese. Oh, maybe it's because it's not fully thawed. I took a bite and felt a bit disappointed. I went all the way to the airport for this. I waited so long for this. I spent so much money on this. Oh well, I should have followed the instructions. Next time I buy something, I'll try the croissant. Thank you for the meal. ⇒ ◇ It's become a popular souvenir in Hokkaido ◆

I have visited this souvenir shop at Asahikawa Airport a few times. They have a variety of products from this area as well as items from all over Hokkaido, some of which were featured on "Matsuko's Unknown World." I particularly enjoy the cheese selection, especially the "Aobie Cheese" made with sake lees from a sake brewery in Etanbetsu, Asahikawa. It's a blue cheese but surprisingly easy to eat, and apparently pairs well with sake. Since it's not produced in large quantities, it's a lucky find when you come across it. Highly recommended!

Starting the May journey of the 2022 JGC Series 35, this time we are in Shikoku. The restaurant is located in a hidden place, but they have a wide selection of drinks. Even though it would be nice to enjoy it in Hokkaido, I decided to buy some Abashiri beer. Also, the potato chips are amazing when you open the bag, the aroma is incredible. Just containing this aroma must increase the price, haha. While thinking about getting my boarding pass, I will leisurely enjoy my time here. Next, I will send you from Haneda Airport.
