I watched the World Cup too much and didn't get enough sleep, so today I decided to buy food instead of going out to eat. I visited a shop with a variety of anko (sweet red bean paste) options, and because the sizes were small, I ended up buying a lot. Personally, I was surprised by the Ramune (Japanese soda) anko as it really tasted like Ramune, and I quite liked it.

Visited around 2:15 pm on a Friday in November 2022 for a snack after lunch. Location & Parking: Located in a residential area about a 5-minute walk southeast from Exit 6 of Miyanosawa Station on the Tozai Line. There is no parking lot, so you have to find a place to park before visiting. Upon entering, the walls and counter are beautifully designed with custom-made orders. The showcase displays steamed buns with various flavored fillings such as red bean paste, all handmade by the owner's mother who makes around 120 buns per day. Menu: They offer around 40 carefully selected steamed buns with various fillings, with 15 available flavors. I tried the "Red Bean Paste + Cream," "Fine Red Bean Paste + Cream," and "Japanese Chestnut + Butter." The "Red Bean Paste + Cream" bun had a thick texture due to the red bean paste and cream filling, with a smooth and slightly salty taste that complemented the sweetness of the red bean paste. The "Fine Red Bean Paste + Cream" had a smoother texture without the graininess, providing a creamy and satisfying mouthfeel. The "Japanese Chestnut + Butter" bun contained chestnut paste and a thick layer of butter, offering a rich and decadent flavor with a hint of saltiness that enhanced the sweetness of the chestnut paste. I look forward to trying the Ramune-flavored steamed bun on my next visit.

I was curious about the combination of steamed buns and red bean paste, and the variety of red bean paste flavors available! I finally decided to go try it out. I went around 2 pm, but many flavors like matcha, ramune, and hojicha were already sold out. They usually have 10 or more flavors available every day, but there is a possibility that the flavor you want is sold out, so I think it's better to go in the morning. I chose pear cream, and my husband chose peach cream. The steamed buns were not very sweet, and the cream was also mild, maybe to enhance the flavor of the red bean paste. I could taste the texture of the pear, and the red bean paste I tried for the first time was a new experience.

When I came out of Mondo-san, I found myself here. Oh! We were neighbors in the same building. Let's go in then. A new sensation dessert with red bean paste sandwiched in steamed bread. There were many varieties available. The base comes in three types: plain, topped with butter, and topped with cream. From the colorful showcase, I chose caramel cream and grape. Grape red bean paste!?! The ingredients stacked vertically look great, but it's difficult to bite into with bare hands. It might be a bit challenging for those with refined tastes, so I recommend enjoying it at home with a bamboo skewer. I tried the steamed bread, red bean paste, and steamed bread separately. The caramel flavor was familiar, while the grape was unique. Interesting. The plain one had a shelf life until the next day, while the cream one had to be consumed on the same day. There are about 40 different products available, and the lineup changes depending on the day. Ramune flavor seems appealing, and I'm curious about red bean paste with Ramune. It would make a great souvenir! Thank you for the meal!

2022/10 Snack~(๑´∀`) Near Miyanosawa Station, newly opened in August 2022 with a new concept of sweet red bean paste desserts. The small shop may have a line outside during busy times. They offer 17 varieties of red bean paste in colorful spherical shapes, starting from 330 yen. - Smooth red bean paste cream 360 yen. This firm and sweet red bean paste cream has a nostalgic taste and is a safe choice. - Yuzu cream 360 yen. White bean paste with a yuzu flavor, also sweet. The steamed buns have a traditional texture, not too fluffy but not too dense either. They look cute and are great for gifts as well. Thank you for the meal! (^ω^)

On a certain weekday, I visited a confectionery shop bookmarked in the neighborhood, located in Hakkō 6-jo, Nishi Ward. They specialize in steamed buns filled with red bean paste and other fillings. There is no parking available, so be careful not to park in the building's parking lot next door. The shop is located in a semi-basement of a building, next to a soba restaurant. The interior is a compact Japanese-style space with two glass showcases. I chose the "Red Bean Butter Steamed Bun (360 yen)" from the menu, which consisted of a tube-shaped steamed bun with sliced butter and sweet red bean paste inside. The balance of the butter's saltiness was good, but the steamed bun itself was average and not very sweet, serving more as a supporting role. The size is a bit large for one bite and tends to crumble when eaten in small pieces. I also tried the "Ramune Steamed Bun (330 yen)" which had a surprising Ramune flavor with a hint of acidity, thanks to the white bean paste filling. The idea of filling steamed buns with red bean paste is brilliant, and I hope it becomes a trend. Thank you for the meal.

I happened to find a shop on Instagram with the name "Anko-do," which is such a wonderful name for those who love sweets! It was just opened during the Bon holiday, so I decided to visit according to the opening hours. When I arrived at the shop at 11:30, there were already 7 or 8 groups lined up. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was able to enter the shop. They sell steamed buns with various types of sweet bean paste fillings. Even though it was just opened, some items were already starting to sell out. The staff mentioned that they couldn't make a lot at first and will gradually increase production. I purchased a few items that caught my eye: red bean paste with butter, smooth bean paste with butter, miso with butter, hojicha (roasted green tea) with cream, and chocolate with cream. The red bean paste had a nice texture, and the smooth bean paste was smooth with a mild sweetness. The miso flavor in the miso bun was quite strong, but the combination with butter was good. The hojicha bun had a delicious roasted green tea flavor that paired well with the cream. However, the chocolate bun felt a bit lacking in integration between the chocolate paste and the cream. Overall, I would like to try more varieties of fillings in the future.

I found this shop on Instagram and was curious about it, but the operating hours and distance were a bit challenging for me, so I had given up on visiting. However, my friend wu-ta said he was planning to go, so I decided to join him. The shop had just opened, and there was a line of customers outside. The interior was small, so only 2-3 groups could enter at a time. We tried about 8 different flavors and shared our thoughts. The hojicha cream was the standout with a strong flavor, perfect for hojicha lovers. The red bean butter buns had a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. The chocolate cream bun lacked a strong chocolate flavor. The miso butter bun had a very intense miso flavor, like eating miso soup. Overall, the buns were a bit dry, but the cream buns were recommended. There were other flavors to try, so I look forward to visiting again. I'm glad I could join wu-ta on this unexpected visit to the shop. Thank you, wu-ta!

It's my visit on the opening day. It seems like because of the summer vacation, the page on Tabelog was completed on the fourth day (^^;) I forget so easily! When asked how I feel about anko, I would answer, "I like it!" without hesitation. So, I visited without knowing what they were selling. In the showcase inside the store, there were round colorful balls... (..;) It turned out to be samples of anko used in the products. They are a bit big, so it's easy to misunderstand (^^;) The actual product is a steamed bun-like dough filled with anko, served as shown in the first image. To be honest, it's a bit difficult to eat. You have to peel off the paper stuck to the bottom of the dough before eating, which is a bit troublesome. The anko is not as round as in the sample, which is a bit disappointing (^^;) But the taste is undeniably delicious! (*^^*)

The steamed buns have various toppings. It's a bit difficult to evaluate, but upon further thought, 370 yen seems a bit expensive.
