I was looking forward to the sardine ten-don. It seems like the amount of rice has decreased compared to before, but it was just the right amount for me. The sauce soaked into the rice nicely, and before I knew it, I had finished it all. Since it's a seasonal item, I guess I'll have to wait until next year to have it again. I hope they bring it back as a regular menu item along with the Genghis Khan bento and the grilled mackerel rice bowl.

Seicomart. A famous convenience store in Hokkaido. I drove along the Hidaka Road until it dead-ended and got off the highway. I arrived earlier than planned, so I decided to stop at the convenience store for a drink refill and a break. I remembered there was a convenience store around here, and I found Seicomart. They have a Hot Chef section where they sell freshly made bento boxes and side dishes, unlike the regular convenience store onigiri. In the past, when visiting the Hidaka region, it was common to struggle to find a place for lunch, but Seicomart was always a reliable option. Although there are some Seicomart stores in Honshu, when in Hokkaido, I prefer this chain over the bigger ones. I got a large onigiri this time. It may be a bit more expensive, but it's big, has a homemade feel, and unique ingredients. This time I tried the bacon and bonito flakes flavor. The bacon and bonito flakes were finely chopped and mixed in the onigiri. The seasoning seemed to be soy sauce-based with mayonnaise. Simple yet delicious. I wonder why other places don't copy this. I'd love to try it elsewhere, but at the same time, it's one of the enjoyable things about visiting Hokkaido, so I hope they keep it as it is.笑
