"I want to eat ramen!" So, I got off the bus and immediately found a izakaya called Mokkiriya, and the customer who said "Let's go here first" ended up sitting at the 5-seat counter. There was also one table seat. This place used to be a Mokkiriya with a focus on sake. The beer is the normal black label. The appetizer was "Udo vinegar miso," which I couldn't eat, so my partner had it. The owner then gave me "pickled Chinese cabbage." The interior of the restaurant is now much brighter. It smelled a bit like cigarettes, but my partner confirmed it later, so it wasn't just my imagination.
I ordered "pork skewers" and my partner ordered "shime saba," but the owner suggested getting the assorted plate for a better deal, so we went with that. The sashimi was decent, but the maguro wasn't to my liking. The octopus was average, but the shime saba was delicious. It was said to be homemade, and the vinegar wasn't overpowering. The pork skewers were a bit pricey for my taste, but the size and quality were good. My partner, who isn't as picky as me, said it was "delicious."
The oden had white konjac, daikon radish, egg, chicken, dog, monkey, and beef tendon. Except for the beef tendon, each item was 100 yen. The white konjac was large, the daikon was small, and the beef tendon was small. The black oden was different from Shizuoka oden, as it turned black from adding more broth. The broth wasn't overpowering, and the daikon was particularly delicious. The homemade tofu was a complimentary dish and was rich and delicious.
The owner may look tough, but he's a nice guy. He has a bit of a rough charm when he talks. We had 5 beers for a total of around 5500 yen, and my partner was satisfied."
