I wanted to eat curry udon after a long time, so I visited this restaurant, which specializes in udon and curry. This time, I ordered curry udon and scallop butter rice. After waiting for about 7 minutes, the dishes arrived. First, I tried the curry udon. The udon noodles were slightly soft and the way they soaked up the broth was very satisfying. It was excellent. After finishing the udon, I tried the scallop butter rice. It was delicious on its own, but when I poured the udon broth over it, it became even more amazing. It was incredibly delicious.

Curry udon + scallop butter rice for 1200 yen. The udon noodles are cooked in advance, so they come out fairly quickly and are on the softer side. The toppings include braised pork, tempura, scallops, and green onions. It's not very spicy and quite delicious. The scallop butter rice has a strong butter flavor and is tasty, although the rice is slightly soft. There are condiments like shichimi pepper, water, spoons, and chopsticks available at the counter. There are tissue boxes hanging at two spots behind the counter. Since the udon is splashy, they recommend wearing a paper apron. You'll receive a 100 yen discount coupon for your next visit. The ticket machine only accepts 1000 yen bills. The service is average.

The shop featured in Poroco's lunch special was selected by a popular curry shop owner from Sapporo, who was inspired by Nagoya's curry udon. The curry udon uses Hokkaido-grown wheat for the curry roux, which indeed gives it a Nagoya-style feel, but the udon itself is surprisingly soft, almost reminiscent of Ise udon. Personally, I prefer udon with more chewiness. #lunch #Sapporo #hokkaidolove #gourmet #EnoLog

I just started using Tabelog! Please follow me if you'd like! I will follow you back. Clam and scallop curry with plenty of clams - 1150 yen. A mild curry. Just the right level of spiciness for me, who isn't a fan of spicy food (more like sweetness). But more than that, the humidity inside the restaurant was unbearable. It wasn't a big issue during this season, but if it's like this in the summer too, it's not a place to enjoy a leisurely meal. Well, maybe it's not a problem, but it caught my attention.

It's the New Year and many shops are closed, but luckily this one was open early. I usually can't visit on Sundays when they're closed, so this was a great opportunity to try it out. I bought a ticket from the machine at the entrance and decided to go for the curry udon with a side of scallop butter rice. The curry udon had a delicious blend of spices with a hint of sweetness from onions and fruits, combined with a broth made from domestic chicken and bonito flakes. The udon noodles were chewy and paired perfectly with the flavorful soup. The tender chicken and crispy fried bits soaked in the soup were also delightful. The scallop butter rice was topped with bonito flakes, adding depth to the rich scallop and butter flavors. Pouring the remaining curry over the rice turned it into a tasty scallop curry dish. Both the curry udon and scallop butter rice were delicious, and I would love to visit again if given the chance.

At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, there are limited shops open, so I was grateful that this place was open early. The curry udon and scallop butter rice were delicious. The broth was flavorful, and the udon was soft and chewy. It was easy to bite through. The portion size was just right. It might have been a bit lacking without the rice. The scallop butter rice was so tasty... The curry udon has a Japanese-style taste, so of course, they go well together! The temperature difference between outside and inside was extreme that day, and the humidity was around 150% (not really). My hands were sweaty, the camera lens was fogged up, and even my phone cover was damp from the moisture in the air. It was so uncomfortable inside that I wanted to eat quickly and leave, which is a first for me. There was only one staff member, but the service was relatively quick. I'm glad I was able to eat here this time! Thank you, wu-ta-san!! (((orz

I visited "Uzu" for the first time on December 29th. Today, I had some business at Sapporo Station at 3:30 PM, but as expected, the underground parking lot at Sapporo Station in December was packed. I couldn't find a parking spot, so I parked at a nearby paid parking lot. The parking fee was 330 yen for 30 minutes (as of December 29, 2022). Along the way, I found a curry restaurant that seemed to specialize in curry and curry udon. As I entered through the flashy curtain, I saw a ticket machine on the left side. Based on the layout of the ticket machine, it seemed like curry udon was the main dish. I chose the simmered chicken curry for 850 yen. There were options for normal spiciness and extra spicy, both priced the same. Inside the restaurant, there was a counter with 9 tables arranged in an L-shape. There were 2 groups of customers already there. I handed the ticket from the machine to the kitchen staff. Today, there was only one female staff member handling everything. There were multiple pots in the kitchen, probably to accommodate different levels of spiciness and menu items. They informed me that rice was free and could be served in a large portion, but since it was lunchtime for me, I decided to stick with the regular size for now. After a few minutes of waiting, my food was served. The rice was a decent portion, about 250g. The curry sauce was on the watery side, and the spiciness was just right. The vegetables and chicken in the curry had a good flavor. The chicken was well-seasoned. The rice was the usual soft and sticky rice from Hokkaido. On the table, there were Fukujinzuke (pickles) and condiments for adjusting spiciness. The spoon provided was of good quality, a stainless steel spoon with a mirror finish. It felt different from the cheap spoons you find elsewhere. Next time, I might try the udon menu. Thank you for the meal.

Chicken curry stew for 850 yen, perfect for a work lunch (๑´∀`) Located at Sapporo Station North Exit, newly opened in July 2022. A curry shop where you can eat quickly. There is a ticket machine outside the entrance with only a few types of curry available. The interior is quite small with only a counter, and the ventilation is not great, making it quite humid. I ordered the "Chicken Curry" with the normal 300g of rice, and the large serving was free, but I didn't need that much. The food was served quickly, which is great for busy businessmen. The rich and thick curry was unexpectedly authentic and delicious! You can't choose the spiciness level, but it was medium or less. The tender chicken was small and a bit lonely. The Fukujin pickles were served in a jar, and there was plenty to eat. It's a good option when you're short on time to eat before heading back. Thank you for the meal (^ω^)

There was a curry and curry udon restaurant near Sapporo Station North Exit. A curry udon specialty store is rare, isn't it? The scallop curry with plenty of clams costs ¥1150. They also offer a large serving, but I opted for a regular portion. The curry had a unique flavor with a balance of sweetness and spiciness. It was very delicious. Although the lunch price is a bit high, it was tasty and satisfying. I would like to try their udon next time.

Yes, I really love curry. A new curry restaurant opened in front of Sapporo Station, and I had been aiming to go there. Finally, I was able to go. It's called "Uzu" as of December 8, 2022, with a rating of 3.14. It's a small shop with only a L-shaped counter. You order at the ticket machine. I'm not a big fan of it, but since I went early in the opening, there was no one waiting in line behind me, which was good. I ordered the pork belly curry for my friend and the simmered chicken curry for myself. They also had a curry with plenty of clams and scallops, which I'll try next time. Curry udon seems to be popular too, and I haven't had it in a while. So, next time, I'll have the curry with plenty of clams and scallops and curry udon. It's decided - a set with scallop butter rice (small). Thank you for the meal! I'll definitely visit Uzu again!

This is the third stop on the Sapporo Curry Tour held on the weekend. We arrived around 5:10 PM and purchased a ticket for the "Spicy" simmered chicken curry from the ticket machine before entering the restaurant. There were no other customers, so we sat at the counter in the back and handed over our ticket. We requested a smaller portion of rice. The curry arrived in just 2 minutes. It was described on the ticket machine as having a "strongly spicy" flavor and the dark curry reminded us of Kashmir curry. The hot curry had a slightly thick consistency and was moderately spicy. It was more characterized by the sweetness of onions and fruits rather than spiciness. The description on the counter mentioned, "A simple appearance yet a new, nostalgic, and always familiar taste that was achieved through trial and error using carefully selected spices, onions, and fruits." The curry had tender simmered chicken as the only ingredient, but there was a sufficient amount. The rice was Nanatsuboshi, but personally, I prefer it a bit firmer. This restaurant seems to be known for its curry udon, so I will try that next time I visit Sapporo. Thank you for the meal.

When I came to the Legal Affairs Bureau, I found this shop nearby. The female owner runs the shop alone. There are 9 counter seats. It's a curry rice and curry udon shop. I ordered the curry udon for 850 yen. They served a small rice as a service. The curry udon had tender chicken, flavorful fried tofu, and green onions. The spicy broth was delicious. Personally, I would have liked it to be a little thicker. The udon was soft without much chewiness. I mixed the rice with chicken and broth to enjoy it like a porridge. I left feeling full. I came across this restaurant on YouTube and decided to visit. It is a curry and curry udon specialty store. It is located near the chaotic Sapporo Station North Exit on the east side concourse, where construction is underway for the extension of the Shinkansen to Sapporo. It is close to a large 40-story apartment building on the north side of the station. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a three-story building. It is situated facing west towards the parking lot behind the First Joint Government Building. Upon arrival just before the opening time of 11:00, the curtain was already out and a sign saying "now open" was displayed, so I entered. Inside, there is a ticket machine right at the entrance. I hesitated a bit before deciding on the "Curry Udon and Scallop Butter Rice (small) set," which I believe is their recommended dish. However, from 11:00 to 16:00, you can get a free large portion of rice with curry rice, and a small rice is served with curry udon. Since it was my first time trying curry udon, I opted for that. I purchased an 850 yen ticket, handed it to the owner or staff, and requested a small rice as well. The seating consists of L-shaped counter seats only, and there were no other customers at the time. The interior of the restaurant is clean and decorated mainly in white. I took a seat at the counter, where I could watch the cooking process right in front of me. The soup was prepared in a small pot right in front of me. According to the "shop's commitment" posted in front of me, the soup is made with chicken and bonito broth, and finished with udon-specific spices. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes. Bonito flakes were sprinkled on the small rice. I started with the udon, which was more on the soft side rather than chewy. The soup reminded me of Maruchan's curry udon flavor. It was light and gentle yet spicy, which I actually quite liked. The udon had chunks of chicken and two pieces of fried tofu. Mixing the rice in at the end, it was delicious. The soup was light, so it might be a bit difficult to eat with the wooden spoon provided from the start. Towards the end, there were five people waiting outside. I'll have to try the curry rice next time. Thank you for the meal.

In August 2022, I visited a surprisingly good stand curry restaurant in the vicinity of Sapporo Station. Near the south exit of Sapporo Station, there are several stand curry shops such as "Cafe Essher," "Curry House Colombo," "Curry Specialty Store India Kita 2-jo," and "Curry Specialty Store India Ekimae." There is also a new stand curry shop near the north exit of Sapporo Station that opened in July 2022. In addition to curry, they also offer curry udon on their menu. I tried the "Simmered Chicken Curry" for 850 yen, which was spicy and flavorful. The menu is limited to chicken, pork belly, and clams and scallops. The curry is cooked in an electric pod and finished in a "Yukihira" pot, giving it a delicious taste. The ingredients are cooked individually and lightly reheated, making the curry tasty but slightly expensive. The chicken curry offers decent value for the price, but the clam and scallop curry, made with boiled frozen ingredients, felt a bit overpriced. I noticed that they offer a free extra-large portion during lunchtime, which could be a way to adjust the pricing. Overall, it was a delicious curry, but I would appreciate it more if it were a bit more affordable for a stand curry shop.

I usually post reviews about ramen, but occasionally I will share information about delicious soba and udon shops in Hokkaido. The 14th edition features "Uzu," a curry and curry udon restaurant located near Sapporo Station North Exit. ================================= ◉ Serving as a hub for Sapporo's curry udon culture! It seems that "curry udon" is quietly becoming a trend these days. When I looked into when this trend started, specific years like the 90s, 2003, 2010, etc., came up. Through my experience of exploring ramen, I have come to realize that trends tend to slowly move northward. With that pattern in mind, the next big thing in Sapporo might be "curry udon." With these signs in mind, I heard about a new restaurant specializing in "curry and curry udon" that opened last summer (2022). There are still relatively few places in Sapporo that focus on "curry udon." I believe there are only three shops in Sapporo, including this one, that specialize in "curry udon." So, I decided to visit the restaurant. The shop is located in Kita-ku, Sapporo, Kita 8 Nishi 3. Just a 3-minute walk from Sapporo Station North Exit, it's in a great location. Currently, Sapporo Station is undergoing major renovations, so it might be easier to use the east exit. There is no parking available, so those coming by car should use a nearby coin parking lot. I arrived at 1:30 pm and entered the shop through a flashy noren curtain. The interior was clean and mainly white, reflecting that it was newly opened. I checked the ticket machine near the entrance. The menu includes three types of curry rice and four types of curry udon. I decided to order the "Cheese Curry Udon" for 950 yen. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the Cheese Curry Udon, generously topped with cheese, arrived. The udon soup, based on a creamy curry roux, was hot, spicy, and delicious. The udon noodles were thick and chewy, perfectly complementing the curry soup. The toppings included green onions, fried ingredients, large pieces of chicken, and the added cheese. The combination of Japanese udon, Indian curry, and European cheese created a harmonious and delicious flavor. The owner of "Uzu" aims to create a culture of curry udon in Sapporo. With its convenient location near the station, it may soon become a hub for spreading Sapporo's curry udon culture. Lunch specials include free rice, so you can also enjoy curry rice at the same time. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. (Visited on August 23, 2022) (Posted on January 14, 2023)

Located near the north exit of Sapporo Station, this small "curry and curry udon specialty store" is a pre-opening establishment that does not offer curry udon at the time of visit. The store operates with a ticket vending machine system and has a counter-style seating arrangement, with a female staff member managing the place alone. The "Spicy" Braised Chicken Curry is priced at 850 yen. The curry is heated in a small pot over a low flame, requiring constant stirring to prevent burning. However, some may argue that using a hot water bath method could be safer. Nevertheless, the service is quick. The portion of rice served is generous, approximately 300g. The rice itself is well-cooked with no noticeable flaws. The curry roux has a dark color, which I personally prefer. It has a moderate viscosity, with a subtle broth-like flavor from aromatic vegetables, complemented by a sharp spiciness. While the spiciness may overshadow the umami and richness, it could appeal to those who enjoy a spicy kick. I find this type of curry more appealing than heavily garnished curry rice. It's a curry that focuses on subtraction. The chicken pieces as toppings are small in portion and add a bit of texture, although they may have a slightly peculiar taste. Since the toppings don't affect the flavor of the curry much, the visually appealing "Spicy" Clam and Scallop Curry with plenty of clams might be the most attractive option here.

☀️◼️Curry and curry udon - Pork belly curry with a spicy kick for 950 yen. Skipped the bento and had lunch at Sapporo Station ❤️ Discovered a new restaurant ❤️❤️❤️ A beautiful woman running the place by herself ❤️ I wonder if she's the owner? The clean interior with jazz music playing creates a nice atmosphere ❤️ Purchased a meal ticket from the machine and took a seat ❤️ The pork belly curry arrived immediately ❤️ Such a quick service ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Perfect for a short lunch break ❤️ Satisfied with the filling portion ❤️ The spiciness was just right, not too hot ❤️ The pork belly was incredibly tender, a pork belly lover's dream ❤️ However, for me, the seasoning on the pork belly was a bit too sweet... It would be great as a snack with drinks, but still delicious ❤️ Thank you for the meal ❤️.

The Pork Kakuni Curry (extra large serving for 1,050 yen) was absolutely delicious! This place is known for their curry udon and curry rice, but currently only the curry rice is available until the curry udon is introduced in mid-August. The curry comes in two types: normal and spicy, and this time I tried the normal one. The extra large rice portion was about 1.5 servings and cooked to my liking - slightly firm. The curry had a slightly thicker consistency compared to Sri Lankan or Indian curry, but with a light and smooth texture. It had a fruity sweetness, a hint of spiciness, and a good balance between Indian and Western flavors. The richness of the curry was exceptional! The chunky pork kakuni (2 pieces) was also delicious, with a tender texture and a strong pork flavor that complemented the curry perfectly. I was completely satisfied with this ideal pork kakuni curry. I can't wait to try the Scallop Butter Rice that will be introduced along with the curry udon in the future. This curry stand-style shop with a focused menu seems to be well-received in the office district location. I look forward to what this restaurant has in store for the future!

Counter seating only, with a simple interior design featuring white tones. Tickets purchased from the automatic ticket machine. Extra-large portions at no additional cost. The curry is without any ingredients. The spicy version is quite hot. Ordered the spicy braised pork. The curry is black but surprisingly light. If some richness is added, it might become addictive.

I had the simmered chicken curry for 850 yen, and it had a dark color with a spicy aroma and a fruity aftertaste, which I really liked. The simmered chicken was tender and juicy, and despite its appearance, it was quite filling especially with the free large portion. Other customers seemed like regulars, casually discussing menu options, creating a nice atmosphere. It was my first visit, but my expectations were exceeded, so next time I'll try the curry udon.
