The restaurant is known for its overwhelming popularity among the Tezukayama Madams, with a chef who has an absolute taste and has appeared on TV. It is a super popular restaurant that requires reservations for entry. The atmosphere was still relaxed when we visited with four members for dinner, but soon the restaurant was packed and bustling. The dinner course menu features two weekly changing menus using seasonal ingredients, priced at 6,800 yen and 7,800 yen, as well as the recommended special course at 12,000 yen. In addition, irregular courses ranging from 6,800 to 12,000 yen (tax included) are also available. This time, we ordered a la carte. We started with French fries and bottled beer as a prelude while waiting for the dishes to be prepared. The homemade French fries were delicious, crispy, and flavorful. We then moved on to the assorted sashimi plate, which actually had 6 types of sashimi instead of the advertised 5, all of which were fresh and delicious. The Genji special raisin butter was a standout dish, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the butter with the sweetness and acidity of the raisins. The fried taro balls with black pepper were hot and crispy, with a creamy interior that melted in the mouth. The seasonal vegetables in a Dutch oven with porcini cream were roasted to perfection, highlighting the natural sweetness and umami of the vegetables. The raw oyster in kejang-style sauce was a surprising dish reminiscent of Korean cuisine, with a perfect balance of spiciness and sweetness. The hot seafood sauce over crispy rice was flavorful and satisfying. The shrimp and yam gratin was a comforting dish with a creamy white sauce and crispy cheese topping. Overall, the dishes at "Genji" were delicious, reflecting the chef's years of experience and dedication to his craft.

I made a reservation for 11:30 and went for lunch. When I arrived a little early, everyone was waiting... It's really popular. I ordered the Genji bento with 10 items. There are various things included. Based on the pictures, the seafood gratin was the favorite among the three of us. You can have seconds of rice, and they serve it with pickled vegetables. We had two servings of extra rice. For drinks, we had one hot lemon tea and two hot coffees. It came with a small financier.

When it comes to lunch at Genji, "bento box" seems to be the go-to choice. I'm glad I made a reservation over two weeks in advance. We were seated at the counter. The lunch sets A and B that used to be available are gone, now there's just one option. You can still choose 2 items for the bento box, but the prices seem to have gone up a bit. Since it was my partner's first time, we ordered the popular 10-item bento box for 3000 yen. It was a bit busy so it took a while for the food to be served. The bento box came with incredibly delicious miso soup, rice, and pickles. The sashimi was plentiful and thick! The marinated cod roe and konjac dish was delicious. The gratin was piping hot! The beef stir-fry, tamagoyaki, scallop and cucumber in sweet vinegar, mapo tofu, and more. Everything was so delicious. We really enjoyed it! My partner said they want to try the course menu next time. Finally, I had the thick duck roast and finished my meal. It was a restaurant I would like to visit with my family if it was nearby.

We toasted with beer. The children had kids' lunches. They even prepared an allergy-friendly option for my youngest. The mini rice balls for kids are so cute!
