I discovered a monthly calendar for a special daily event, which might indicate some great deals on certain days. My companion ordered the "Seafood Bowl with Double Toppings" for 1,380 yen on a service day at the same price. I couldn't resist the "King's Bara Chirashi Sushi" for 1,500 yen, which was on the whiteboard menu, so I ordered it right away. My companion also ordered the Fried Horse Mackerel for 800 yen. We were filled to the brim and very happy. The chefs at the counter kindly showed me how to enjoy the King's Bara Chirashi Sushi. However, I ended up dropping some toppings, but I still had a wonderful time eating it. Thank you so much!

The sushi restaurant is located on the first basement level of the Brick Square at Kichijoji Station, and the main seating consists of a counter with two two-person tables. Consequently, it is not very suitable for groups of four. Many customers order individual sushi pieces along with drinks, and the age group seems to skew slightly older, with a noticeable presence of patrons in their 40s and above. My visit was made with a reservation, and I used the Tabelog V points, which made the check-in process quite smooth, something I appreciated greatly. I ordered the Bara Chirashi (1,500 yen), which was generously topped with salmon, negitoro (chopped tuna with green onions), maguro (tuna), and octopus, providing a satisfying portion. Although the dish itself is served in a small bowl, its depth allows for a good amount of food without feeling overly full. Since there are many toppings, I found that it was better to add a bit more soy sauce than I initially thought.

The soba restaurant I wanted to go to was closed. The nearby eel restaurant had a long line... and the Italian restaurant also had a queue in front of it. I was a lunch refugee before noon... That's what a weekend lunch in Kichijoji is like. I managed to get into a sushi restaurant right as it opened at 11:30. On weekdays, they have quite affordable rice bowl options. Since this was my few times visiting, I wanted to try the recommendations written on the board inside, which are delicious. So, I ordered the octopus wasabi and fried anglerfish from the board. The appetizer was oden with fish cake, sausage, and quail eggs. For sushi, there's a system where you write your order on paper and hand it to the staff. I first ordered a platter of assorted sashimi. It was okay. Finally, I tried the recommended fresh horse mackerel and live red clam in smaller rice portions. They were fresh! The ingredients were tasty. I had two pieces. I think the seafood bowl options on weekdays are more convenient here.

Barachirashi: 1,500 yen Highball: 390 yen Otoshi (Oden): 300 yen I visited on a Saturday just after 1 PM, and there was no wait for a seat at the counter. The interior was bright and clean, and the clientele varied—there were solo diners, couples, and families. Since it was lunchtime, many people seemed to be eating quickly and heading out. When my donburi arrived, I pondered how to eat it... it was a bit complicated! The central mound, made of nakaochi and kiriyaki, consisted mostly of tuna and salmon. First, I moved the ikura and salmon to a small plate. I started eating from the remaining tuna and other ingredients, and as that was reducing, I transferred some salmon back into the donburi. The amount of sushi rice in the donburi was quite substantial, and I was full! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I went out with my daughter to Kichijoji and took the bus from Chofu Station—it was quite a distance! We'll take the Inokashira Line back home. We visited a small restaurant located in the basement of a building. Even though it was lunchtime, we ordered a highball and a bottle of beer. The menu featured sushi, seafood bowls, and many appetizers, making it a good spot for drinks too. The tuna sashimi, which had a liver-like texture, and the shumai were delicious! I forgot to order my daughter's sushi without wasabi, so we ended up ordering it again, which hurt the value a bit. However, we received a scratch-off ticket on the way back and won a 1,000 yen voucher, so that was nice. I think the reason they didn't ask about the wasabi when we got there, despite being with my daughter, was because she was just too cute. We ended up getting a lot of scratch tickets and managed to hit the jackpot!

I was craving tuna in Kichijoji, and I found a restaurant where I could enjoy both sushi and bowls. This time, I ordered the sushi. I really loved the lean meat from the premium tuna from Oma. The salmon tartare was also delicious. I'm grateful to be able to enjoy high-quality tuna at such reasonable prices.

When it comes to "Magurojin" in Kichijoji, it's a popular restaurant that's always busy, located in the basement of Kirarina among other places. I think I visited for the first time in over 10 years. It should be next to the previous location. I remember ordering wasabi rolls to finish off my meal and shedding tears of joy. This time, I ordered the "Yuki Nigiri" lunch set for 2900 yen. Even though it was 12:00, I was the only customer at that moment, though a pair of ladies came in as I was leaving. The quality of the nigiri toppings was good, but I felt something off about the rice; it had a slightly powdery texture. The herring roe was overly salty, and the roe and sea urchin had lost their fragrance. The fatty tuna was delicious, but the lean tuna was a bit watery. Overall, it felt like just an ordinary sushi restaurant, which was a bit disappointing.

I thought there would be a strict atmosphere with no talking, but it was more relaxed and enjoyable than I expected. We used a counter seat as a family, but there were other types of seating available too. True to the name "Magurobito" (Tuna Person), the tuna was incredibly delicious! Also, the tuna was addictive with an amazing flavor. However, because of that, the prices were quite high.

It seems that "Kichijoji Magurobito Mogura" has reopened as a renovated establishment last November. **Name:** Kichijoji Magurobito Mogura **Address:** B1F Kichijoji Renga-kan Mall, 1-8-5 Kichijoji Honcho, Musashino City, Tokyo **Phone Number:** 0422-23-5739 **Business Hours:** [Weekdays] 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM / 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM [Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays] 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM **Closed:** None **Access:** A 3-minute walk from the north exit of JR Kichijoji Station With prices starting from just 80 yen per piece, it's very affordable! There was a wide variety of sushi available, especially featuring their specialty: tuna. Having enjoyed their fatty tuna a few years back, I had been looking forward to returning. To start, we toasted with some beer and ordered the restaurant's top recommendation: the "Magurobito Special Five-Piece Assortment" for 1,200 yen (which includes lean, medium fatty, fatty tuna, and raw tuna). However, my anticipation turned into disappointment—the tuna lacked the expected fattiness and didn't stimulate my appetite. I would recommend opting for the "Bara Chirashi" available only during lunch instead of the a la carte options. Honestly, I don't think I'll be returning.

I had the Bara Chirashi at a restaurant in Kichijoji for ¥1300. It's located about a 3-5 minute walk from the north exit of Kichijoji Station, in the basement of a brick building in the Daitown area. I visited for lunch and tried the restaurant's original Bara Chirashi, which was exceptionally delicious. The dish was overflowing with salmon, making it a must-try for salmon lovers. Beneath the salmon, there was a variety of other fish including tuna, squid, and sea bream. I'm definitely interested in going back for dinner. I will visit again. Thank you for reading to the end.

I had the special five-piece platter of tuna and the surprising negitoro bowl. The fatty tuna was definitely the most delicious! The fish in the fish broth was not fishy at all and was actually quite tasty. I saw what the person next to me ordered, and the katsushika maguro bento had a mountain of sashimi on it, which looked like a great deal! I will definitely order that next time!

I was able to get in without waiting during a weekday lunch. I ordered the Kichijoji Bara Chirashi for 1300 yen. As the reviews suggested, it was presented even better than the pictures on the menu, making it very visually appealing. While there was a lot of salmon, which was nice, I appreciated the variety of different seafood as I ate through it. However, I found the salmon to be not particularly delicious compared to what I expected. The staff were very kind and helpful; they assisted me when I was unsure about the menu and even asked if I was full when I was about to leave. I really appreciate their attentiveness. I just wish the fish had been a bit tastier.

I visited a long time ago, but this is my first time since the store transformed into a beautiful space. While I was leaning towards sushi, I decided to order the "Kichijoji Bara Chirashi." When I saw the bowl of the person next to me finishing up, I thought, "Wait, isn't that bowl a bit small? What if I'm still hungry?" A little nervousness crept in. However, when my dish arrived from the counter, it exceeded the photo on the menu, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow! Amazing!" It was piled high. "Please use the bottom plate as a saucer," I was told. Indeed, it seemed difficult to break it apart like this. I cautiously used a spoon and chopsticks to take off some salmon. Underneath, there was minced tuna, boiled squid, white fish, red fish, cucumber, and sweet omelet. The combination of the sweet omelet and the textures of squid and cucumber was delightful and kept me from getting bored. I continued adding the salmon to my plate as I ate. On top of the salmon, there seemed to be some masago (fish roe). It was smaller than ikura (salmon roe), but given the current times, ikura is out of reach, right? I left feeling completely satisfied and full.

At Maguro in Kichijoji, I highly recommend the Kichijoji Bara Chirashi for 1,300 yen. If it's hard to eat, the chef says you can use the plate below as a serving dish. The bowl itself isn't very large, but it seems to contain 250 grams of rice! The toppings include salmon, tuna, squid, egg, cucumber, ginger, and greens. I quickly removed the top salmon and the seared salmon to another plate, but even then, the portion was filling and delicious, and I finished it all! Additionally, there's a bowl of clear soup included. Note: There’s a glass door right after the entrance curtain! I accidentally bumped my head into the spotless, transparent glass. Thankfully, it didn't break! Please be careful of the glass door. ✋

I took my son (5 years old), who wanted sushi, to a restaurant over the weekend. It was clear that the place was still fairly new and very clean. My son ordered the special seafood bowl, while I had the Kichijoji tuna chirashi (scattered sushi). Not only was the presentation impressive, but it was also quite delicious. I felt that the best way to enjoy this place would be to sip on some beer or sake while snacking on the dishes. That was the impression I got. Thank you for the meal!

It's nearly 2 PM, and I'm wondering what to have for lunch. How about sushi for a change? At Ronron in Umegawara, there was a 19-person wait, so I casually stepped out and entered Magurojin from the Daira shopping street underground. I sat at the counter and ordered a green tea highball and chose the special nigiri sushi. After waiting about 10 to 15 minutes, they served two plates of five pieces each. In the photo, you can see I've already finished one piece from the plate on the right. The fish was fresh and delicious, but the rice was a problem. It's still warm! This is the basics of sushi, so please, get it right!

I've always wanted to visit this restaurant. I'm a huge fan of tuna when it comes to sushi, and I was able to enjoy it to my heart's content. I tried the five pieces of tuna sushi (five variations of tuna) and the luxurious three spoon bites (three different one-bite spoons), which I highly recommend. Since it’s a popular spot, I rushed to get there right after work at around 5:30 PM on a weekday, and I found myself alone in the cozy counter area. They offer a wide selection of Japanese sake that pairs perfectly with sushi, along with reasonably priced shochu and hot water options (both just 500 yen). I indulged in the delicious tuna and sushi while enjoying some creative and thoughtfully named appetizers that make for great drinking companions. As a result, the default is to have less rice, which caters to those who want to try a little bit of everything, satisfying the desires of a woman's heart ❤️. The restaurant has a counter and two tables; it’s not particularly large and is located in a basement of a mixed-use building just a three-minute walk from Kichijoji Station. The service is impeccable, and there’s a warm distance between the sushi chef at the counter and the patrons, allowing for pleasant conversation. Nowadays, many sushi restaurants use digital ordering through iPads, so the warm atmosphere reminiscent of a small eatery adds to its charm. It’s easy to keep enjoying drink after drink on such a luxurious solo night out. The bill came to about 5,500 yen. There’s a great lunch menu available, but I definitely recommend going for dinner. Thank you for the meal. I’m looking forward to visiting again soon!

After finishing yoga, I was thinking of having a fish lunch, so I headed to an izakaya where the daily lunch special didn't appeal to me. The nearby Korean restaurant had a long line, so I ended up wandering around looking for a lunch spot in Kichijoji for the first time in a while. In the end, I chose Magurojin, located in the basement of the Renga-kan building. During my last visit, I had the special nakaochi-don (fatty tuna bowl) and thought the tuna was delicious! This time, I was quite thirsty, so I first ordered a non-alcoholic beer and the daily special delicacy for 550 yen. It was bakurai, a type of salted delicacy made from sea pineapple and fish guts. Even though it was 550 yen, it was quite a small portion. I collected myself and ordered a seafood bowl (Ume) for 1,380 yen with small rice. My plan was to eat the remaining beer and sashimi first. When the seafood bowl arrived, the sashimi was more ordinary than I had expected. It included shrimp, squid, surf clam, tuna, and negitoro (minced fatty tuna). It seemed pre-cut for the bowl. I could tell that the tuna my neighbor was eating was definitely of a different quality; there’s probably a price difference. I think for lunch, it would be better to go with sushi pieces instead. However, they have increased the variety of sake snacks on the menu, and they mentioned that they can prepare dishes not listed on the menu if possible. I guess I should start by becoming a regular customer. The service was good. I feel worried about the lack of energy in the basement of Renga-kan.

I visited Magurojin, located in the underground Level 1 of the Brick Building Mall in Kichijoji's Diamond Street, and ordered the "Kichijoji Bara Chirashi" from the weekday lunch menu. The height of the dish was about three times what I imagined! (laughs) It was much larger than the picture on the menu. There were various toppings, but mainly salmon. There was an incredible amount of salmon!! (laughs) When I was a child, salmon was my favorite fish, but for some reason, I haven’t eaten it much as an adult. The bowl was genuinely filled with salmon, without any tricks like rice being piled high or a false bottom. I got so much salmon that I might not want to see it for a while! (laughs)

The two locations of Magurojin have merged and started operating under the new name "Kichijoji Magurojin Mogura." Personally, I find the name Mogura a bit strange as I don't really understand its purpose. The Maguro Zamanai Don is literally topped with lots of tuna, which is delightful. However, the quality of the tuna didn't seem that great to me. The fatty tuna was delicious with rich flavor, but the lean tuna was somewhat lackluster and not very tasty, feeling a bit coarse. Considering the price, I would recommend trying the Kichijoji Barachirashi instead.
