You can reach it via a connecting passage from Otaru Chikko Station. There is a café lounge with spacious ocean view windows in a commercial facility called Wing Bay Otaru located under the Grand Park Otaru hotel between AEON Otaru and Otaru Chikko Station. This time, the seats were full, and we were guided to the waiting area for about 20 minutes. While waiting, decide what you want to eat from the showcase at the entrance. I had a "Puyi Damour," which is a dessert that I can't forget even though it's been a long time. It looks like a disc or a spinning top, but it has a generous amount of rich custard cream in a triangular cone-shaped pastry shell. It is topped with hardened candy and sprinkled with powdered sugar before being torched like a crème brûlée. The surface is quite hard, so you need to break it with a spoon. The smooth and rich custard cream was really delicious! The pastry shell was also firm and tasty. I've never seen or eaten a Puyi Damour in this shape before! My companion had an "Ichigo no Cream Parfait," I think? It's definitely Instagram-worthy. Well, I can't comment on the taste because I was engrossed in eating the Puyi Damour (^o^;) I visited twice after that, but I didn't see the Puyi Damour. Did the pastry chef change? Was it not popular? (The taste is good, but I can't tell by the appearance), or is it a cost issue? I really want to eat it again (^o^;) It's a café with an ocean view, but the seat we sat in was close to the sea but oddly had a limited view of the ocean. The seats one level up seemed to have a better view. Well, we didn't have a choice as it was full. It was wonderfully delicious, spacious, and pleasant. Thank you for the meal (^人^)

During my stay at Grand Park Otaru, I had a coffee break in the afternoon. The cafe is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel with a glass interior that offers a beautiful view of the yacht harbor outside. I ordered an iced cafe au lait and enjoyed the rich milk flavor while relaxing at the spacious table. The cakes at the nearby patisserie were also very tempting with beautiful designs and affordable prices compared to the hotel lounge. The cafe is not very crowded, so you can have a quiet and leisurely time there. I highly recommend this lounge for hotel guests.

This hotel, which used to be a Hilton, is now operated by a resort company based in Singapore, and has become a casual hotel where you can stay at a reasonable price. They have reduced services that require manpower, such as carrying your own luggage and having fewer staff at the front desk, in order to keep prices low. Maintaining and operating such a facility must be quite challenging. However, the building itself, being a former Hilton, still retains a high quality in terms of its architecture and furnishings. The entrance hall, with its atrium made of marble and wood, exudes a timeless beauty. As you ascend the gently curving staircase from the entrance on the 1st floor, you can see the marina in Otaru with white yachts floating in the blue sea from the lounge on the 2nd floor. In front of the lounge, hotel-made bread and cakes are sold, and the cakes in the showcase look very delicious. Among them, the "Crème Brûlée" limited to 10 pieces a day caught my eye, priced at around 500 to 600 yen each. I bought one and tried it in my room. And it was incredibly delicious! The Crème Brûlée had a crispy pie crust filled with layers of creamy filling that melted in your mouth, with a rich vanilla aroma. The caramelized crispy outer layer added a nice texture. The combination of caramel and cream melting in your mouth was heavenly. This dessert was worth more than its price. The peach tart was also delicious with fresh fruit, but the Crème Brûlée was outstanding. It's definitely worth a visit to Otaru just to try it. I would give the Crème Brûlée a 5-star rating. I would love to go back just to have it again.

On December 23, 2010, a Wednesday holiday with light snowfall, I went with two friends to the Bay Lounge at Grand Park Otaru in Wing Bay Otaru for a lunch buffet. It cost 1500 yen with unlimited time from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. We arrived a little after 12 pm and found many customers already enjoying their meals. The spacious interior with plenty of seating made it comfortable for us. We headed straight to the food section, which had a decent variety including pilaf, pizza, pumpkin gnocchi, roast beef, daily fried chicken, clam pasta, sweet and sour pork, shumai, and tom yum kung. There was also a salad bar, dessert corner, and an ice cream section that attracted kids. A highlight was the chocolate fountain where we dipped pineapple, grapefruit, and banana. The sweet chocolate was delicious! The sweet and sour pork and tom yum kung were particularly tasty. The pork was tender with just the right amount of sourness, and the tom yum kung had a spicy kick with coriander that made us cough but crave more. Other soups like vegetable and Chinese were also available. Despite the limited selection, the view of the yacht harbor through the large windows made the 1500 yen worth it. I recommend going on a sunny day with a group of friends for a great experience!

I visited here during my trip to Hokkaido because I wanted to have something sweet. I thought the hotel lounge would be a safe bet, so I ordered the cake set for 1000 yen. It seemed reasonably priced considering the great view from the hotel lounge. However, adding a coffee to the cake set for 1000 yen was a bit surprising, especially since cakes alone were priced in the 300 yen range. The coffee was just average and so was the service. The cake was decent, not too sweet, and seemed like it could have been split into three pieces. The lounge was spacious, which was nice as there were a lot of group tourists using the buffet area and it was a bit noisy, but the view made up for it. It felt like a large food court area, but the highlight was definitely the view. Overall, for 1000 yen, being able to enjoy the view while leisurely sipping tea made it a good deal. Plus, the free 5-hour parking was a nice bonus for wandering around the area.

On the second day of the trip to Hokkaido on November 14, 2008, we visited the Ginga Waterfall and Ryusei Waterfall in Sounkyo, then went to Asahiyama Zoo to see cute animals. After being healed by the adorable animals, we indulged in a strange optional lunch at Fukuyama Pass, and then enjoyed the beautiful hills and Tokachi-dake at Biei and Shinsei no Oka before arriving in Otaru in the evening. There, we had a grateful "Otaru Sushi and Taraba Crab Set" for dinner. It was a meal that didn't disappoint, considering it was included in the budget tour package. I wish we had free time for dinner in Otaru. We quickly finished our meal in silence, returned to the bus, and arrived at our accommodation for the day, Hilton Otaru. The day's itinerary was completed. My partner suggested going for a snack, so we wandered around a nearby shopping mall but found nothing. Just when we were feeling disheartened, a poster for "Hilton Patisserie" appeared in front of us. I remembered seeing special cakes on the Hilton website! We hurried to the patisserie, selected cakes from the showcase, and enjoyed them in the lounge. I chose the "Caramel Pear" cake, which had a poached pear on top and a gooey caramel center. The cream around it was subtly sweet and elegant. My partner ordered the "Strawberry Mille-Feuille," which was also mildly sweet, with delicious strawberries. The Darjeeling tea served in a pot was quite tasty, and the hot milk was scalding, causing my partner to exclaim "It's hot!" The waiter apologized for the hot milk, although my fingers were not burnt. I thought the prices might be high since it was a hotel lounge, but when I checked the bill later, it was only \1000 for the cake set. The service was polite, the snack was satisfying, and \1000 was reasonable. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant, with few customers in the evening. The next morning, we had a buffet breakfast in the same place. It was a bit crowded, but the spacious table layout and the view of the yacht harbor outside made up for it. The food selection was limited, but my partner enjoyed the croissant. The staff promptly cleared the empty plates, showing attention to detail. Enjoying breakfast while looking at the yacht harbor was refreshing.

At Hilton Otaru. I missed breakfast and headed here to satisfy my hunger, only to find out that they only had cakes as it was between breakfast and lunch hours. Disappointed, I reluctantly chose a chestnut Mont Blanc from the Hilton Patisserie showcase. Enjoyed it while overlooking Otaru Marina. The chestnut flavor was rich and the cream was not too sweet, showing Hilton's elegance.

When I went to the dessert buffet, it was just the time when spring had finally arrived in Hokkaido. The cakes were colorful and not too sweet as usual for the season. They even had chocolate fondue and macarons. However, when you eat too many sweet things, you start craving something salty. That's when crispy potato chips and sandwiches become a welcome treat. The salty snacks tend to disappear quickly compared to the cakes that keep coming out. It's important to spot and grab them early. I can't forget the taste of the consomme simmered baby cabbage. I remember feeling quite disappointed when I realized it was already gone.

At Hilton Otaru. There are no light meals, but there is cake. The Mont Blanc is very delicious. It's the Hilton Patisserie's chestnut Mont Blanc. While many Mont Blanc desserts use chestnuts, this one uses Japanese chestnuts! You can taste the rich chestnut flavor. The location is great. The view is also amazing. It might be recommended for those who want to relax a bit. Since it's a top-class hotel like Hilton, experiencing that might be nice too. However, going all the way from Tokyo just to eat there might be a bit much. But it could be good when you're tired and want to unwind.

Perhaps some of you may already know, but the hotel that houses this bar has completely changed its management from January. It has been relaunched as the Chinese-owned "Grand Park Otaru." First of all, I was surprised by how reasonable it is. Considering that it was originally part of the Hilton chain, they are starting with plans starting at 5,500 yen per night. For business trips, the difference in price can be used to enjoy a drink at the bar. However, it must be said that the hotel's grade has fallen out of the "high-class" category. As for the bar, it has never been impressive, even during the Hilton era. I have never come across a good bar at a Hilton hotel in Japan, so perhaps it is not a bar to have high expectations for. Despite the change in management, there doesn't seem to be any change in the bar. The cocktails are still lacking finesse. From my memory, it seems that the bartender has not changed either. The atmosphere in the lounge bar is quiet and there are few people at night, with a large atrium overlooking the yacht harbor, creating a fantastic ambiance. However, it is disappointing that the content does not match the quality of the setting, and at times it can even feel dismal. Will the bar be reborn with the change in management? Looking forward to the future.

This location offers stunning views from early morning to late at night, with the Otaru Yacht Harbor right below. However, the taste of the food and drinks may be a bit disappointing, especially for those looking for a more refined experience. The hotel offers breakfast and lunch at a reasonable price, but the bar and lounge may not live up to expectations. It's a shame that such a beautiful setting doesn't have more memorable offerings. The early closing time can also be a drawback for hotel guests.

It is located on the 2nd floor of Hilton Otaru. It is a dessert buffet only available on Sundays and holidays. The variety and quantity of food to eat here are truly amazing. And the best part is, it only costs 1,400 yen. First, start with the pizza, there are several types available. They are popular and sell out quickly, but new ones are constantly being made. There are also bread, salad, pasta, and more, which will usually fill you up. The main focus is on desserts. You will definitely need a separate stomach for this. Recently, they introduced a chocolate fountain where melted chocolate flows down from a tower, and you can dip various ingredients in it. Chocolate lovers will surely love this. Lastly, enjoy cakes, puddings, ice cream, and other desserts in moderation to avoid stomachaches later. You can sit by the window and enjoy the view of the sea while indulging in sweet treats to your heart's content.

Wing Bay Otaru is located on the 2nd floor of Hilton Otaru, and the atmosphere is excellent as expected from Hilton. The high ceilings create an open and spacious feel, and the effective lighting adds a sense of calm to the space. The dessert buffet is highly recommended. You can enjoy the hotel's flavors for only 1400 yen. It's hard to find a buffet with such great cost performance elsewhere. The cakes are small in size, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors. They look beautiful and taste great. The flavors are rich and satisfying... For example, if it's chocolate, the chocolate flavor is strong. You can also enjoy all-you-can-eat light snacks, salads, and more, so it's a good deal for those who are a bit hungry and visit during lunchtime. Overall, it can be said that it is the best buffet.
