On the 29th, we had our usual meat dinner for Meat Day. Since it was 8/29, we decided to go for yakiniku and made a reservation at "Yakiniku Kimuraya." I met up with my husband after work and headed to the restaurant. As we climbed the stairs to the second floor, we entered a stylish space that felt more like a cafe. Each table had a duct above it, and a tabletop gas roaster was placed on each table. They offered a drink all-you-can-drink option for 1100 yen (tax included) for 100 minutes without beer. We ordered the meats we wanted to eat, and here's what we had:
- Kalbi & Special Sagari: Both were tender, but I personally prefer Sagari over Kalbi.
- Rare Cuts Assortment: This included sirloin, rump, zabuton, ichibo, and tsurami. The marbling was beautiful, and the quality of the fat was exquisite. The portion was just right, not too heavy.
- Special Liver Yakiniku: This was delicious, and I almost finished it all by myself. It was fresh, well-prepared, and tasted amazing with sesame oil and salt.
They mainly use Japanese beef, so the quality of the meat is good. My husband felt a bit heavy after eating the cuts with a lot of marbling. Surprisingly, he didn't eat beef tongue this time! (We should have ordered beef tongue before the assortment of rare cuts...) However, there were two points that I hope they improve on:
1. Lack of condiments: There were only sauce and table salt as condiments, and I didn't like the sweet miso sauce that was already in the condiment dish. When I asked for lemon juice, they said it would cost an extra 100 yen. If condiments are charged separately, it should be clearly stated on the menu.
2. Egg soup taste: When my husband ordered egg soup as the finishing dish, it was too bland, almost like a light broth. For 500 yen, I expected more flavor. The meat was delicious, but these two points left me feeling unsure.
Overall, I don't go to yakiniku restaurants often, but maybe trying their bibimbap for lunch would have been better. They also have affordable course menus, making it suitable for dates or girls' night out. Thank you for the meal!
