I visit this place once a month. There is a refrigerated case at the counter, like a sushi restaurant, with the ingredients of the day displayed. You can point at them and say, "Oh, grill that salmon!" That's how you order at this place (laughs). On top of the case, there are baskets of vegetables, and you can ask them to make a dish using those vegetables. They have eggplant, bell peppers, asparagus, and more. I always order the "fried eggplant," which is like fried tofu but with eggplant, and it's really delicious! I don't drink alcohol, so I usually have grilled fish, grilled chicken, or other dishes with rice. Sometimes they make Sanpei soup, which is also worth trying. The owner is a skilled bear hunter from the local area, and there are pictures of the bears he has caught on the walls. The heating in winter is done by a "wood stove," which adds a nice touch (laughs).

It's an izakaya in Fisherman's Wharf. They don't have a menu, but if you ask for something delicious that day, they will bring it out. You can enjoy fresh fish, as well as dishes made with Ezo deer and bear depending on the season. They offer sashimi, simmered dishes, soups, grilled dishes, and more upon request. The friendly proprietress manages the place, and there are many regular customers, so first-timers may feel a bit confused, but the proprietress will take care of you.
