I recently visited Fujitaya, a Japanese-style eatery that has opened just off the back alley near the large jewelry and tea utensils store, Hoendo, next to Machida Station on the JR Yokohama Line. It's a small restaurant, but even on a Saturday at 11:30, there was a line of people waiting, indicating its popularity. During lunch hours, they offer set meals. I ordered the Fujitaya Set for 1,500 yen, which I assumed would be impressive since it bears the restaurant's name. When it arrived, I was taken aback by the lavish presentation! It included two types of fish dishes (sashimi and grilled fish) and two meat dishes (stew and chicken dumplings), which were all substantial enough to be main dishes in their own right. Additionally, it came with rice, miso soup, and pickles. When I tasted everything, I was equally surprised by how delicious it was! The sashimi was perfectly fatty, the grilled fish had no off-putting smell, and the meats were tenderly simmered. Even the rice was delicious! The miso soup was also excellent! I couldn't believe how fantastic the meal was. I enjoyed every bite until the end. The only downside is that the place is so small that it's difficult to move when it's at full capacity, but I can't complain otherwise. I can't wait to go back!

Another visit! Today, I chose "mackerel in miso." Of course, I also ordered the standard raw egg. After a short wait, the food arrived: fluffy rice and hot miso soup. The mackerel in miso was lightly seasoned, tender, and the ginger and green onions provided a nice touch. Before I knew it, I couldn't stop eating and ended up ordering a large rice refill. For the last bite, I mixed in the raw egg with the rice. It was such a satisfying meal! Next time, I might try the ginger pork.

I had been curious about this place for a while after seeing reviews, but the timing never matched up… finally, I was able to go. As rumors suggested, it was quite delicious. 1. **Sashimi**: The sashimi included fatty tuna and grilled white fish. The fatty tuna was rich, probably medium fatty, and it was delicious. 2. **Saikyo-yaki**: This was grilled yellowtail with a unique miso flavor that was quite tasty. I highly recommend it. 3. **Simmered Dish**: This dish had pork, daikon radish, and carrots. It was also quite tasty. 4. **Simmered Dish 2**: This consisted of chicken meatballs, napa cabbage, and shiitake mushrooms. It had a lovely thickness to it. The broth was very delicious. If I had to say something, I found the chicken meatballs a bit peculiar. They were soft, but had a slight oddity. Given how delicious the broth was, I think simple chicken meatballs would have been better. That said, it was still quite tasty… (Am I being picky?!) 5. **Pickles**: The seasoning was quite unique, so tastes may vary. Personally, it was a hit for me. I even wish they would sell just those. 6. **Miso Soup**: This was a delicious miso soup with a rich broth. The ingredients were tofu and green onions, and I thought it was tasty. The main dish of rice was also delicious, and I went for a second helping. Overall, the way they extract the flavor from the broth seems to be done very well. I was satisfied. Given the portion size, I think the cost performance is good too. For beginners, I recommend starting with the Fujita-ya set meal to experience the restaurant's taste. I will visit again!

The meat is tender and the seasoning is just right. Although it may not look like a large portion in the photo, it’s definitely enough to feel satisfied. The other small dishes are also very delicious. However, for those who prefer a stronger ginger flavor, the dish may seem a bit mild. But for those who want to experience the natural umami and sweetness of the pork, it could be perfect. Also, the fried chicken is served in a half size.

I visited again on a weekday afternoon, and it's quite empty today. Last time, I had the "Fujitaya Set Meal," so this time I went for the "Chicken Nanban Set Meal," and I also added a raw egg for a rice refill. After a short wait, my food arrived. The chicken was generously topped with tartar sauce, and the cabbage on the side was coated in a flavorful sauce. It was a hearty meal, and I couldn't stop eating the rice. The pickles and the stewed pork with daikon made for nice palate cleansers. This time, the miso soup was piping hot, which was great. I finished off with a rice bowl topped with the raw egg! Thank you for the meal! Next time, I might try the grilled fish set meal.

Two skilled chefs create dishes with great care. You can feel their attention to detail in everything, from the appetizer to the finely shredded cabbage. Anyone who cooks at home regularly will surely appreciate this. Everything is delicious! The chefs also provide thoughtful explanations about the food and drinks from behind the counter. All of it is delightful!

I found this restaurant while looking for a meal set. The name, "Dolonabe Gohan" (Clay Pot Rice), caught my attention. It was a weekend lunchtime, and the place was almost full. Fortunately, a single spot at the counter was available, so I was able to sit down. There were various meal sets that seemed to go well with rice, but I decided to order the Fujitaya set, which offered a variety of dishes. Since I could get a rice refill, I added a raw egg as a topping. The meal set featured a good number of dishes and generous portions, including sashimi, grilled salmon with Saikyo miso, meatballs in sauce, stewed chicken with radish, miso soup, pickles, and plenty of items that paired perfectly with rice. Each dish was carefully prepared, and the grilled salmon was particularly delicious! I definitely had to get a rice refill for that. In the end, I enjoyed it as a rice bowl with the raw egg. It was a satisfying meal set that allowed me to enjoy meat, fish, vegetables, and rice. The other meal sets also looked delicious, and it seems like it would be a great place to use for a night out as well. I definitely want to visit again!

I visited a new restaurant in Machida, and even though it was just before lunchtime on a weekday, it was already quite busy. The first floor has counter seating, while the second floor has tables. This restaurant is known for serving rice in a clay pot, and the best part is that you can have unlimited refills! I ordered the "Fujitaya Set Meal" and added a raw egg. They have a trendy QR code ordering system. After a short wait, my meal arrived, and it was packed with a variety of dishes! The sashimi included yellowtail and tuna, and the grilled fish was miso-marinated salmon. Additionally, there was pork braised in soy sauce, meat and potato stew, and pickles – a truly luxurious selection. The miso soup was a bit lukewarm, though. The rice was on the softer side but had a nice sweetness that paired well with the side dishes. I ran out of rice midway through my meal and requested a refill. Everything was delicious! I was really impressed and will definitely be coming back!

I had a mackerel salt-grilled set meal. The rice cooked in a kamado (traditional Japanese stove) is unlimited. I highly recommend the rice! It’s fluffy and shiny, and I couldn't help but ask for seconds. I could eat as much as I want. The grilled mackerel is bone-free, so I can enjoy it without worrying about bones.

I went around 11:30 on a holiday, thinking it would be relatively empty at that time. While there was no wait, I was surprised to see that quite a few tables were occupied. Even while I was eating, more and more customers kept coming in, indicating it is a popular restaurant. I ordered the Fujita-ya set meal. Everything was delicious, and I was very satisfied. The miso soup had a taste that seemed a bit instant, but I can't be sure. Ordering was done through a QR code, which was convenient, and I appreciated that I could choose to have less rice.

I recently visited "Doniwa Gohan Shokudo Fujitaya," a new restaurant along the tracks in JR Machida, where you can enjoy quality izakaya-style dishes ranging from sake snacks to sashimi and clay pot rice. On this weekend visit, I went with a friend for a meal. Planning to end with rice from the clay pot, we started looking for some appetizers to go with our drinks, and the menu was filled with tempting choices perfect for drinkers. Since it was our first visit and we had no prior knowledge of the place, we ordered whatever caught our fancy. ▫️Appetizer: Stewed vegetables and squid - The flavors were well-absorbed and delicious. ▫️Wasaabi Mixed Surf Clams - A nice little nibble to cleanse the palate. ▫️Fujitaya Potato Salad - I tend to order potato salad at izakayas since each place has its own take on it. This one included boiled egg and smoked daikon, topped with bonito flakes for an added umami kick. ▫️Tuna Sashimi - The tuna sashimi included red and medium fatty cuts and was aged to perfection, fulfilling our expectations. ▫️Dobin Mushi - A comforting seasonal dish. ▫️Tempura of Sea Bream and Mushrooms - Served with salt and sauce. The mushrooms (shiitake, maitake, and eryngii) were aromatic. Since the clay pot rice takes about 30-40 minutes to prepare, we ordered it a bit early and added one more dish in the meantime. ▫️Spicy Mentaiko Omelet - A filling dish with eight pieces, delivering a well-rounded spicy flavor. ▫️Clay Pot Rice with Salmon and Ikura - After a bit of a wait, our clay pot rice arrived. The rice was cooked in broth, topped with salmon and ikura, which were perfectly balanced in flavor. They even provide takeout containers so you can pack up any leftovers yourself. Overall, it's an upscale Japanese restaurant and izakaya aimed at adults. It's suitable for both dining and drinking. On this particular day, the second floor had many couples, but the atmosphere is relaxed enough that newcomers can order a la carte without feeling out of place. The first floor has a counter, making it comfortable for solo diners, and the second floor has table seating for groups, making it quite versatile. Thank you for a lovely meal! This day’s drinks included: ◇ Bottled Beer ◇ Sato: A refreshing barley shochu ◇ Gakki Masamune: A slightly sweet, smooth Tokubetsu Junmai Ginjo from Fukushima, with good acidity and a clean finish.

On a weekday night, I visited the restaurant with a friend after making a reservation. The appetizer, a warm simmered dish, had a gentle and rich dashi flavor, building up our expectations! We ordered various dishes, and I was so engrossed in the food that I forgot to take photos. The rolled omelet was fluffy, with delicious dashi and a mild taste. There were many types of rice cooked in a donabe (clay pot), and after some deliberation, we chose the classic "Salmon & Ikura" and the unusual "Aged Bacon and Nagaimo Cheese." Both were delicious! I was especially surprised by the aged bacon dish, where the nagaimo had a great texture and the overall taste balance was excellent. They've mentioned that they don’t stick to a specific rice brand; instead, they choose varieties that suit donabe cooking at the time. Although I don’t have pictures, the fried tofu and potato salad were also tasty. For drinks, there was sake and shochu available, and it seems like there are some options not listed on the menu, making each visit exciting. For three of us, we ate and drank our fill for 28,000 yen. It was a delightful experience with proper Japanese cuisine, and it’s definitely a place I want to visit again.

Located just a 2-minute walk from JR Machida Station, the newly opened "Doonabe Gohan Shokudo Fujitaya" serves as a set meal restaurant for lunch and transitions to an izakaya-style eatery at night. There are not many traditional Japanese dining spots in this area, so I had high hopes when entering. They offer a variety of set meal options centered around fish. This time, I ordered the Fujitaya set, which included sashimi, grilled salmon, braised pork, simmered sweet potatoes and fish, pickles, miso soup, and rice cooked in a donabe (earthen pot). Each dish was expertly prepared and delicious. The donabe rice is refillable as well.

I heard a new restaurant opened, so I visited right away. Every dish, starting from the appetizer, was incredibly delicious. I'm definitely going to return! The main dish, the clay pot rice, was of course excellent. The way they fried the tempura was outstanding, and the sashimi was all very fresh. Among all the places I've eaten in Machida, their sashimi was the best. The mentaiko (spicy cod roe) egg roll was also so fluffy and packed with flavor, it was amazing. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I had lunch at "Donabe Gohan Shokudo Fujitaya," which opened on October 9 near Lumine Machida (^ - ^ ゞ). I ordered the Fujitaya set meal, which included sashimi, simmered dishes, grilled items, small bowls, miso soup, pickles, and rice cooked in a clay pot, all for 1,580 yen, tax included, with free refills of rice! The rice was fluffy, had a sweet flavor, and was delicious (^_^)v. Every dish was tasty, so if I weren't trying to diet, I would have definitely gone back for more rice (^^;). I'm curious about their other menu items, so I’d like to visit again ( ☆∀☆). By the way, from October 9 to 11, they had a campaign where you could get the set meal for half price if you brought a flyer. I went to get the flyer on the 8th, but when I tried to go on the 10th and 11th, there were long lines, so I had to give up. I was glad to have a chance to try again!

I originally went for lunch and enjoyed the delicious rice cooked in a donabe, so I decided to visit during the evening for a drinking party with my colleagues. We chose the highest course for the all-you-can-drink option. It was unique to have Maru-Efu draft beer, which was easy to drink, and the food was reasonably good, but the braised pork belly we ordered outside of the course was really tasty, so it would have been even better if it had been included in the course. It was a bit disappointing that we had to wait a little after arriving.

Fujitaya's set meals have a lot of main dishes, which makes me happy. The simmered pork was especially delicious. It would be even better if they offered omelets as a paid add-on.

Everything was delicious. It feels like everything is homemade and has a special touch. The small dishes were tasty, and of course, the main dish, chicken nanban, seemed to have homemade tartar sauce as well. You can enjoy unlimited servings of the rice cooked in a clay pot.

There is a restaurant located on a back street near JR Machida Station. I often visit this street because there are many places that suit my taste. - **Food and Flavor**: The appetizer was oden, and the daikon had absorbed a lot of flavor, making it delicious. The potato salad I ordered had a nice depth of flavor from the iburi-gakko (smoked pickled daikon). Every dish I ordered was quite delicious. I couldn't try the signature earthen pot rice, so I definitely want to come back for that. - **Service**: I sat at the counter, which made it easy to interact with the staff. It was relatively quiet, and the timing of the food and drink service was good. - **Atmosphere**: The place is cozy and has a nice ambiance. However, the counter seating was a bit cramped. - **Cost Performance**: The prices were not too high or too low, and I felt they were reasonable for the quality offered. - **Alcohol and Drinks**: There were some Japanese sake options that weren't listed on the menu, so if you like sake, make sure to ask the staff. The selection and prices were generally decent.
