Today, I am grateful to have some Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue). There are various theories about the origin of the name Genghis Khan. I always thought it was named after the Mongolian leader Genghis Khan, so I was wondering why it's related to sheep dishes. He was the emperor who united nomadic tribes in Mongolia in the early 13th century to create the Mongol Empire. There is another legend that suggests someone exaggerated the story of Genghis Khan being Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a Japanese warrior, and connected it to Genghis Khan barbecue. Well, it's delicious, so I don't really mind, but I'm curious to hear from someone who knows the truth.

The Genghis Khan in Malta has a moderately light and quite pleasing sauce. I bought the lamb shoulder loin Genghis Khan, which came in a 500g pack, allowing for a generous portion. I enjoyed it as a side dish with stir-fried vegetables for drinks on that day. While other stores sell Genghis Khan with a strong flavor, this one is just right and satisfying. Unlike the Golden Genghis Khan I had before, this one uses tender shoulder loin meat. The meat slices were small, perhaps due to the small size of the sheep, but the taste was excellent. When eaten with delicious stir-fried vegetables, it makes for a great side dish.

I ate raw hormone that I bought in Malta and it was so delicious, so next time I'm going to try seasoned lamb. Hormone and lamb have different flavors and textures, so I'm really looking forward to it. The chewy hardness of hormone and the tenderness of lamb meat. The miso flavor of hormone versus the soy sauce-based flavor of lamb. I have a Genghis Khan pan, but if I cook it while eating, even if I ventilate, the house will smell, so I stir-fry it with plenty of vegetables in a frying pan. Lots of vegetables and lamb Genghis Khan pan. It's so delicious that beer and rice go down easily. It's a waste to just have beer, I want to eat it with rice. I was satisfied.

It's rare to come across lamb offal for yakiniku. It's already seasoned, so you just have to grill it and eat. I don't eat Jingisukan hot pot often, but my image of it is lots of vegetables. It's a good value and delicious. I can't forget the lamb in Susukino, Sapporo. There are a few places in Kashiwa as well, but it's somehow different. So this time, I made Jingisukan at home. I bought 500g of offal from Meat Mart, so you can eat plenty. Unlike lamb, the more you chew, the better it tastes, so you don't need 300g or 400g per person like with lamb. You can enjoy it multiple times with just one pack. The seasoning is great. It's a spicy miso flavor. I devoured it with rice.

This season, I had my first outdoor Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) experience. I decided to buy and compare the "mutton roll" and "lamb roll" from this restaurant. The sauce was the traditional Bell sauce. The price of the lamb roll has gone up. The Genghis Khan here is not stuck together, making it easy to separate and cook each piece. This time of year, the Ainu leeks add a nice flavor.
My friend bought a Genghis Khan pot with slits, so we did a taste comparison between the mutton and lamb rolls. Preferences vary, but I like both of them.
For this mutton and lamb roll taste comparison, we used a slitted Genghis Khan pot. The charcoal flavor really enhances the taste of the meat. I still prefer the mutton roll. I also tried the miso hormone this time. The spicy hormone was thick and chewy, and the accompanying spicy miso was also good.
After planting sweet potatoes at my friend's house, we decided to have Genghis Khan for dinner. So, we bought mutton and lamb rolls from this restaurant. By reserving in advance, we were able to purchase without waiting. Both were priced at 148 yen per gram. We purchased 1kg of mutton roll and 1.5kg of lamb roll. We grilled them in a Genghis Khan pot over charcoal. Since they were not frozen solid, they were easy to separate and cook. The lamb roll was tender and delicious. The mutton roll was slightly tough but had a satisfying chew and was tasty. We enjoyed both. We grilled onions, bean sprouts, and Ainu leeks as vegetables. Ainu leeks go really well with it. And of course, the Bell sauce is the best choice. Next time, I want to try grilling them in a slitted Genghis Khan pot. The slits allow the charcoal flavor to infuse, making it even more delicious.

This place is located in Chuo-ku, at Minami 22 Nishi 9 along the tram street. You can easily confirm the exact location by checking the map on Tabelog as usual. I visited this shop for the first time based on information from someone who mentioned that you can buy "mutton slices" here, which are no longer easily available in Sapporo. Upon entering the shop, I didn't see it in the refrigerated case, so I looked at the menu posted on the wall. I decided to order 500g of "mutton slices" and 500g of "lamb slices" for comparison. The staff sliced the meat from a frozen roll, weighed it, and I also bought two bags of bean sprouts before leaving the shop. Back at home, I took out all the meat, took a photo, and divided it onto plates. I used "Bell's" Mongolian barbecue sauce and a famous spicy miso from a well-known Okinawan barbecue restaurant as an accent. I heated the Mongolian barbecue pot on a portable stove, melted the fat, and cooked the bean sprouts first, then grilled the "mutton slices" and "lamb slices." I adjusted the heat by adding sauce to the edge of the pot to prevent it from getting too hot. The "mutton slices" had a strong lamb flavor, while the "lamb slices" were tender and easy to eat. It was a great experience to enjoy the mutton slices at home with my favorite drink, just like the time I had them at a certain beer hall.

In May 2015, "Naganuma Jingisukan Niku no Maruta" is a meat shop established in 1971. This year marks its 44th anniversary as a long-standing store. Naganuma Jingisukan is marinated in sauce. I visited "Naganuma Jingisukan" after a long time. The shop is located in the Yamahana area of Chuo Ward, Sapporo, along the Nan 22-dori street. The shop has a compact layout. In addition to Jingisukan meat, they also sell ham, sausages, and dipping sauce. They also sell outdoor equipment such as portable pots, charcoal, and gas canisters for stoves. The shop offers three types of homemade Jingisukan and one type of hormone. From the Naganuma Jingisukan menu, my companion chose the "Lamb Shoulder Loin Jingisukan" that they like. The "Naganuma Jingisukan Lamb Shoulder Loin Jingisukan" is marinated in the shop's original sauce. The thickness is about 1 centimeter. Despite being thick, it is very tender with a moderate amount of fat. Unnecessary fat and tendons are removed during preparation, making it easy to eat. The sauce does not contain preservatives or additives, so the shelf life is short, but it has a natural deliciousness. Due to its short shelf life, they do not offer online sales, it is only available in-store. It has a well-balanced flavor, not too salty. Price: 500g for 900 yen (including 8% consumption tax). The "Naganuma Jingisukan Lamb Shoulder Loin" from Niku no Maruta is as delicious as always. The tenderness of the meat is indescribable. Because they remove excess fat and tendons, it is easy to eat even for women and children. It is truly a delicious Jingisukan. I think I'll choose the "Lamb Shoulder Loin" again next time. It was a delicious meal.

This is a shop that has been around for a long time. I was happy to see it on Tabelog, so I decided to write a review! It's a retail store, so I use it for home-cooked meals or barbecues. It's located along the main street, and it's run by a husband and wife. The sauce is homemade, and it's really delicious! The Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) doesn't have any unpleasant smell, it's tender and really tasty. The second-generation owner seasons it with a secret sauce. My mom loves the miso-flavored hormone (offal) here and often buys it (laughs). It goes well with alcohol. I sent it to some distant relatives, and they asked me to send more!!! Delicious food, right? I'll be relying on them again this summer.

It's been about a year since my last purchase. I contacted them in advance and then went to pick it up. I bought 1.5kg of lamb rolls for 268 yen per 100g. The price has gone up slightly since last year. The charcoal-fired, slotted Genghis Khan pot is made of iron. First, enjoy grilling just the meat. Then, place bean sprouts, onions, and chives on top of the pot and steam-cook the lamb rolls on top to enjoy. The sauce is bell pepper. I enjoy it with garlic and homemade chili pepper. The meat is not frozen, so it comes off cleanly and is easy to cook and delicious. (August 2023)

It's been about 2 years since my last purchase. I made a reservation in advance and went to pick it up. I asked for 2kg of lamb slices in 500g packs. The weather is nice, so let's start a fire outside. We're using a slotted Genghis Khan pot for cooking. For vegetables, we have bean sprouts and onions. Onions are expensive, aren't they? The lamb slices are easy to peel and cook nicely. They are a good thickness and easy to eat. However, it seems like the price might go up again soon. (June 2022)

For dinner, I wanted to eat delicious Jingisukan, so I visited this restaurant that I was curious about (*'ω'*). I ordered the Lamb Shoulder Loin Jingisukan (500g: 1150 yen) and as expected, the shoulder loin was thick yet tender~! The seasoning was just right and to my liking♪ There was plenty of sauce, so I enjoyed it until the end by mixing it with the udon noodles for the finishing touch (*'ω'*). I think it's great that you can choose different types of Jingisukan, such as lamb with lots of fat or thinly sliced lamb with less fat, in addition to the seasoned one. They also had lamb slices that are not commonly seen in supermarkets these days♪ I will definitely visit again~(*'ω'*)

I want to eat Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) so much. I drove my bike to a restaurant 20 kilometers away and bought 500g each of mutton for 178 yen and lamb for 188 yen. The meat was sliced by the staff and when cooked, the lamb was tender with a mild flavor, while the mutton was a bit tougher with a stronger taste. We ended up finishing 1 kilogram between the two of us because it was so delicious. When cooking frozen meat, keep in mind that it will lose some moisture and fat during the cooking process. So, it's best to order a bit more than usual to account for this.

Genghis Khan is a must-buy at this shop. I make a reservation in advance. I choose to have it divided into 500g portions. I buy 5 rolls of lamb (500g each) and 1 roll of mutton (500g). They are not frozen solid, making it easy to peel off and cook. The lamb rolls are small, tender, and have a mild smell. The mutton roll is larger, has a unique smell, and is a bit firm, which I like. Grilling them on a charcoal grill with slits in the Genghis Khan pot makes them even more delicious. *Wear a mask* (2020.08)
