Today, I enjoyed a café au lait and a Basque cheesecake. The cheesecake had the perfect balance of a crunchy texture and a creamy, dense feel, making it really pleasant to eat. It was incredibly delicious! The café au lait was generously served and had a wonderfully smooth taste, and the café art was beautiful. I’m looking forward to coming back for lunch next time.

I chose to sit at the counter knowing this situation, so I understand that it might have been my choice, but it wasn't very pleasant. Additionally, the three female staff members were chatting quite a lot, which was a bit distracting. While I could rate the flavor higher, I feel that improvements could be made, so I’m giving a lower rating for the overall ambiance.

I had cheesecake and orange juice. It was rather average, nothing special. My friend ordered curry, which was very delicious and seemed to have a lot of thought put into it. The interior of the restaurant was cute, with a concrete design that I really liked. It looked great for photos.

Upon entering the shop, I was surprised by the various types of furniture, which feature a mix of mid-century design, tables made from Indonesian driftwood, and Scandinavian-inspired decor. It’s a beautifully crafted space filled with attention to detail. Their signature dish is a European-style curry that emphasizes spices, intriguingly named “The Curry I Finally Arrived At.” They also have options like “Just Try It Carnitas Tacos”! You can even add cilantro as a topping. Everything was delicious, and the time just flew by. I was also shocked at how handsome the owner was!

On Tuesday, July 18, 2024, I only had work in the morning and decided to take the afternoon off to have lunch and head home. I heard that a new curry restaurant opened at the south exit of Chofu, so I decided to check it out. It's called "CHAPTER9." Currently, it's open with irregular hours and no holidays. The interior is surprisingly small, with one sofa table for two, one table for one, and four counter seats. There was a mention of "today's deli," so I asked what they had. The staff explained that they make lunch boxes for a nearby care facility, and if there are any leftovers, they offer them as daily specials. Unfortunately, they said there wouldn't be any extras available that day. So, I ended up ordering the "finally arrived curry" and a Heartland beer. I'm not quite sure where I had arrived at, but there was also an option for "almost there curry." Did I finally reach Chapter 9 of CHAPTER9, or am I still on my way? First, let's talk about the Heartland beer. Surprisingly, it was cheaper than most other soft drinks, meaning the beer was actually a better deal! (laughs) Here’s the finally arrived curry. An arriving customer after me ordered it without eggplant, and they were offered a choice to replace it with more vegetables or chicken. It seemed like they were regulars from the food truck days, so they likely knew there would be eggplant in the dish. I asked for the curry to be spicy. It had a thick consistency and quite a bit of salt. The spices felt like they featured cardamom prominently. They only provided a spoon for eating, which made it a bit tricky to get to the eggplant and sausage. Overall, the curry itself tasted great. I thought about getting the Basque cheesecake as well but was too full since the rice portion was quite generous. (A curious note: “Last four digits!?”)

Now they have opened a brick-and-mortar store that’s just a short walk from the station; it's located in a quiet area with a stylish appearance! Great job, guys! The curry on the menu is called "The Curry You’ve Arrived At." Did it mean they’ve arrived from the food truck? (˙꒳​˙⋆͛‪‪ ) The chic interior and the incredibly talented lady cooking, along with the friendly staff, create a welcoming atmosphere in this lovely place associated with a nursing home called "Chapter9." Of course, the handsome guy from the food truck "SCENES" was there too. If you're looking for a lunch or BAR spot in Chofu, I highly recommend this place! ✨ The curry in the picture has no eggplant, so I had chicken substituted; it’s the Chicken Curry You’ve Arrived At version. The Basque cheesecake was rich and satisfying ( •̀ω•́ )و✧ and definitely worth trying with its gorgeous presentation. I also managed to grab a freshly baked scone. The bacon scone, topped with maple syrup, had a perfect balance of sweet and salty, and it was still delicious the next day. If you see it at the store, be sure to give it a try! ✨

You could really sense the owner's commitment to good ingredients and presentation. As I left the café, I thought I would love to try the Basque cheesecake along with some coffee next time.
