On the last day of August, I went on a tour of 100 famous restaurants to collect Eat Log medals! The day before was in the north, and today is in the south. I visited Shin Fuji Main Store, which I had bookmarked beforehand. The address of Shin Fuji Main Store is 2-3-5 Senbon Minami, Nishinari-ku, Osaka City, a 6-minute walk from the Nankai Main Line "Kishinosato Tamade" station. It is a long-established Western-style restaurant in Nishinari, selected as one of the top 100 gourmet restaurants on Eat Log, with a history of over 60 years.
I arrived a little before 11 o'clock, relying on Google. Closed on Wednesdays. Business hours are 11:00-14:00 (L.O 13:30) and 16:00-19:00 (L.O 18:30). It is a popular restaurant where lining up is a must, but luckily there was no line outside at the opening time on a weekday. I found out that regular customers enter before the curtain is raised, so when I opened the door, I was directed inside before the opening hours because it was hot outside. I got permission to take photos and sat at the counter. There are 5 counter seats, 2 4-seat table seats in the back, and a tatami seat further back in the historic interior.
The menu ranges from light meals to double Japanese beef steak. Sets and lunches come with rice, but other items do not. I ordered the husband's A set (large shrimp fry, hamburger, tonkatsu, roast ham, and rice), miso soup, and changed to a large rice. The total was 2,300 yen, including the A set for 1,850 yen, miso soup for 400 yen, and an additional 50 yen for a large rice.
While waiting for the food, I enjoyed the retro atmosphere of the Showa era, listening to the sound of tonkatsu being fried. The food arrived. Each dish was served on a large plate, with a large shrimp fry placed vertically, surrounded by hamburger, tonkatsu, roast ham, Neapolitan pasta, and salad. And a large serving of rice! I started eating. The hot miso soup was served with a spoon as it was too hot to hold. It was full of ingredients and voluminous! The pork was particularly delicious, with sesame oil and egg giving it a Western-style flavor. The hamburger was a meaty type packed with meat! The demi-glace sauce was rich and not too sweet, enhancing the flavor of the meat. The tonkatsu was a loin cutlet! It was tender, with a slight sweetness from the fat, and the demi-glace sauce was delicious. It was a nice touch to dip it in the mustard provided. The large shrimp fry was large and had a crispy coating, with a plump shrimp and the acidity of the homemade mayonnaise complementing each other well. The roast ham, Neapolitan pasta, and salad were colorful with shredded cabbage, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and more! It was a luxurious lunch for adults.
I had plans to visit several more places today, but I was full and satisfied with the delicious food! Customers kept coming one after another, and the warm hospitality provided by the family-run business made everyone feel loved. I hope they continue to operate energetically for a long time. After paying the bill, I thanked the staff at Shin Fuji Main Store and left the restaurant. Husband, thank you for the meal! It was delicious! I will come again! Thank you for reading until the end. I hope this information can be of some help for your gourmet adventures.
