The previous week, when I went to eat soup curry for dinner, I spotted a banner for Okinawan soba next door from the window. I had always wanted to try it but had completely forgotten about it until then. Okinawan soba was something I had never tried before, so I was excited to finally have the chance. This place also served Okinawan dishes, which caught the interest of my companion, Nocchimu. So, the following week, we decided to go for lunch. We arrived a bit late for lunchtime, and the parking lot was almost full with one group of waiting customers ahead of us. We waited for about 20-30 minutes before being seated. We checked the menu and decided to start with the Okinawan soba, which came in two types: Rafuti and Soki soba. I ordered the Rafuti as a single item, and for the soba, I chose the W Soki soba with both regular Soki and cartilage Soki. Additionally, at Nocchimu's request, we also ordered the Goya Champuru as a single item. The W Soki soba had a clear soup made from kombu, pork bones, and chicken, which was light but packed with flavor that warmed the body. The noodles were not the flat type typically found in Okinawan soba but round noodles known as Yaeyama soba, smooth and easy to swallow. The Soki was well-cooked, tender to the point of falling apart, with the cartilage Soki becoming melt-in-your-mouth soft. Both were delicious. The Rafuti (single item) came with a fried egg and salad. The Rafuti was well-cooked to the point where the fatty parts melted in your mouth, with the savory taste of pork and sweetness of the fat blending perfectly with the sweet and savory sauce. It would have been perfect with rice. The Goya Champuru (single item) had a crispy texture and a mild bitterness from the Goya, complemented by the saltiness of the Spam, the softness of the tofu, the taste of soybeans, and the flavor of the egg. It was delicious. It was my first time trying Okinawan soba, and it was delicious. The Rafuti and Goya Champuru were also excellent. I would love to come back again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.
