I visited the newly opened An Horumon Yakiniku Hachioji, located just near the Don Quijote at Hachioji Station North Exit, just before noon. This restaurant follows a ramen shop, an Indian curry restaurant, and a meat-wrapped skewer shop. All the staff on the floor appeared to be from the mainland. Upon entering, I noticed they didn't have a lunch menu available, so I ordered the Jumbo Harami Set for 2,035 yen based on a photo taken outside. The soup and rice are unlimited refills.
Although it took quite a while to prepare the charcoal, my order of rice, soup, kimchi, one piece of Jumbo Harami, two cuts of Ultimate Horumon, and a charcoal grill was served in about 15 minutes. I started by grilling the Horumon, which was generously coated with miso. After grilling, pairing it with gochujang made it delicious. The Horumon set might also be a great option.
Next came the Jumbo Harami, which had a nice hidden cut pattern. It weighed about 120 to 150 grams and had enough thickness to be considered steak meat. I decided to grill it whole instead of cutting it, and when it was cooked to medium-rare, I cut it in half with scissors, then into three pieces and placed them over my rice, adding gochujang gradually to create a mini Harami bowl. The rich juiciness of the meat was amazing, followed by the savory taste of gochujang, and then the spicy kick of gochujang hit next, making it a perfect accompaniment to the rice. This was delicious.
Before moving on to the second serving, I refilled my soup and savored my mini Harami bowl, thoroughly enjoying my meal.
