I visited Moto-Yama, which has been a topic of conversation since last autumn. It feels less like a high-end sushi restaurant and more like a casual izakaya where you can stop by easily. This makes sense, as it was originally a yakitori shop before being renovated. I first ordered the daily specials: tempura fava beans and a three-piece sashimi platter. They were quite tasty. I then added grilled squid tentacles with ginger soy sauce and a thin noodle dish, which were really delicious. After feeling reasonably satisfied, I wrapped up with sushi of my choice and a miso soup with shrimp paste. While it may not match the quality of a luxury sushi restaurant, it's a highly recommended spot for a casual sushi and drink experience.

The sushi restaurant, run by the owner and his wife, is located just a minute's walk from Kitano Station. The interior features a counter and table seating, creating a family-friendly atmosphere. We ordered the special nigiri, a half portion of tempura, sashimi assortment, and wagyu beef sushi (among other items). Every dish was delicious. The fish, likely well-prepared, had no unpleasant smell or texture, which was impressive. Additionally, the portions were generous and satisfying. What stood out to me was the ikura (salmon roe), which had a subtle sweetness and lacked the typical slimy texture, making it incredibly delicious. By the way, the gari (pickled ginger) was also sweet and tasty. The tempura was rich and oily; I wouldn't recommend eating a full portion alone, as it would likely lead to an upset stomach. For most people, sharing a dish with 2-3 people would be ideal. While it doesn’t outshine the sushi, the tempura is still quite good. Out of curiosity, I ordered the wagyu beef sushi and wagyu yukhoe as well. The wagyu sushi, when placed in my mouth, melted like butter—it was practically a beverage! However, due to its rich marbling, just 1-2 pieces felt like the perfect amount. One or two pieces brought me immense happiness! The service was excellent, making it a highly recommended sushi restaurant. It's a great spot for a treat or to enjoy some quality sushi.

Last time I went to try Uwajima Tai-meshi, I decided that for my next visit, I would have a sushi lunch since the sushi looked so delicious! While Tai-meshi is tasty, I wanted to try something other than tai (sea bream), and I generally prefer sushi over Tai-meshi. The sushi lunch was filling, with large pieces of fish. The 10-piece set included a generous tekka maki (tuna roll). I didn't expect it to be that big, so I took a bite of one piece before I remembered to take a photo. Next time, I want to take pictures after everything has been served. Although the Tai-meshi was delicious, the sushi was also fantastic, and the omelette was big and tasty as well.

The new restaurant that opened nearby was delicious. It's great because it's a place we can easily go to with kids. The ankimo with ponzu sauce was really well done, and the richness was just right—smooth and tasty. When I asked about the daily specials, I was told that the grilled tuna belly was recommended. It was delicious! The eel, served both with sauce and salt, was also fantastic—the eel was rich, fluffy, and very tasty.

Early December on a weekday. I took a break in the afternoon and arrived in front of Kitano Station. To my surprise, the "Yakitori Hatsu Raigyo" that I hadn’t seen for about a week has transformed into a sushi restaurant! It’s an illusion that could make even Princess Tenko astonished∑°°(Дノ)ノ It was just after 2 PM, and I managed to arrive just in time for lunch ε-(´∀`;)ホッ The last order for lunch is at 2:30 PM, which is quite convenient (´∀`*) I took a seat at a nicely decorated counter. When my review friend ちぃ visited, they had ordered the 12-piece premium lunch sushi, so I decided to try the 10-piece lunch sushi (税込1,800 yen). By the way, every Monday is Ladies' Day, so female customers can enjoy a 200 yen discount on lunch (#^.^#) Since it was after lunchtime, there was only one family of two in the restaurant. While waiting for my order, we had a little chat ( ‐ω‐)b I even got permission to take photos♪ It turns out that the previous yakitori restaurant was actually another business by the same company. No wonder the transformation happened so quickly ( ˙◊˙ )ホォー I was told that a flower arrangement to celebrate the opening was sent from Jun-chan Sushi, a popular sushi spot near Yamata Station, because the president is friends with Jun-chan.ヽ(*^ー^)人(^ー^*)ノ About 10 minutes later, my garnished sushi and soup arrived♪(⊙ꇴ⊙) At first glance, the footed plate looks extravagant, but compared to the premium lunch sushi, it feels a bit lacking. Nevertheless, the bluefin tuna sourced from Toyosu Market was indeed delicious (*´ч ` *) and the negitoro was tasty too (*^^*) The fish soup had a strong flavor and was quite hearty with plenty of fish pieces!♪(⊙ꇴ⊙) Since a sushi restaurant has opened right in front of Kitano Station, I hope it maintains its presence in the area, so I'd like to make a small suggestion (* 'ᵕ' )☆ With this quality, a price reduction of around 300 yen would make it more appealing for repeat visits. Also, it would be great if the staff refilled the tea when it runs out. Thank you for the drink!(´・ω・)っ旦~ ((^o^))ァリガトォ♪ I wish for the restaurant to be loved by the local community for a long time, and I’ll wrap up my review here. Thank you for the meal〜(^-^)/

I visited Sushi Motoyama, which opened on November 1st in front of Kitano Station in Hachioji City. Rather than being a completely new restaurant, it seemed to have renovated an izakaya into a sushi place. There were two sushi chefs and two staff members from the izakaya handling orders, alcohol, serving, and cleaning up. When I arrived on Saturday at just past 11:30, there was a woman already there enjoying a draft beer while waiting for her sushi to be prepared. More customers came in, and the place gradually became lively. I ordered the special lunch sushi set, which includes 12 pieces for 2,800 yen. I considered getting the 10-piece lunch set for 1,800 yen along with some sake, or the opening celebration bowl with sea bream, tuna, and sea urchin for 1,980 yen, but decided to go for the special lunch sushi set since I was treating myself. About 10 minutes later, the 12 pieces were served on a wooden tray. On the top tier, from left to right: two pieces of fatty tuna, one piece of tuna, and one piece of squid. In the middle tier: shrimp, horse mackerel, salmon, and sea bream. The bottom tier included: fatty eel, salmon roe, sea urchin, and rolls of negitoro and pickled vegetables. The pieces of fish and rice were slightly larger than average, and both the fatty tuna and sea urchin were delicious. Since the 10-piece lunch included salmon roe, I felt the extra 1,000 yen for the sea urchin and fatty eel was reasonable. It was a quick and tasty meal, and I enjoyed it very much. There were also flowers delivered from Jun-chan Sushi.
