Welcome! I visited this facade wanting to breathe in the air of Showa era in Iwamizawa city in September 2014. If only the usual customers come in, what would be their reaction at first glance? A cheerful "Welcome!" greeted me as I entered, with a questioning tone at the end. It was still early (around 7pm), with only one other customer sitting at the corner. I was told to sit at the opposite corner. There were 7 seats in between. When asked "What would you like to drink?", I didn't hesitate and ordered a beer. The appetizer case contained sashimi, but the color looked a bit off. I started with red turnip and cucumber in sweet vinegar, which paired perfectly with the alcohol. Sweet vinegar was surprisingly a great match! Next, I listened to the popular scene of grandpa's banquet unfolding. It seemed like they changed the appetizer based on age. There weren't many options besides the initial appetizers. It felt more like a drinking place than an izakaya, popular among the elderly as a second round spot. Thank you for the meal.
