Third stop on the bar hopping in Temma. My feet are tired and I want to relax with a drink. Osaka really has a lot of places where you can drink during the day, it's impressive. Temma is probably a bit intimidating if you're alone. A renowned restaurant in Temma, called Arukaruto. The curtain looks nice. The moment I entered, I knew I made the right choice. It's always been like that. A cozy and well-crafted delicious restaurant. It feels like home cooking but something you can't make at home. A comforting and delicious place. First, I had shochu. The restaurant had corn shochu from Ise, called Stella Kounen. The waitress said, "This is the only shochu we have." I replied, "Alright then." When mixed with water, it was incredibly smooth! It goes down like water. But it's 25% alcohol. As someone who doesn't handle strong alcohol well, I took it slow. The appetizer was seaweed and yam. It brought back nostalgic flavors. Being from Tokushima, I used to have fresh crunchy young shoots and seaweed every day, so eating the refined seaweed at the restaurant was a treat. It's good for you, healthy, and super delicious. I felt like having some warm dishes with my drink, so I ordered sukiyaki and eggplant dengaku. The large eggplant, piping hot and juicy, was delicious. The rich miso sauce paired perfectly with the tender eggplant. The sukiyaki was chicken sukiyaki. The sweet and savory sauce, with a strong soy sauce and a coarse sweetness like brown sugar, complemented the plump chicken and tasty shiitake mushrooms. It's a small pot, but you can tell a lot of care and effort went into the dishes. The two ladies serving us, who could be described as "older sisters," seemed to want us to enjoy the food at its best, and their kindness was evident. You could sense their meticulous nature, but I like that. I usually cook my own dinner, but I always try to eat warm and cold dishes at their best. Watching the ladies, I was reminded of my mother back home, who would always cook fresh fish from scratch even when I came home late from work. Sometimes, I found it annoying, but seeing their meticulous nature made me wonder if I've become like that too. At Arukaruto, I enjoyed leisurely delicious food and drinks. Each meal felt like a feast.
